In Unova, there is a tale told of a special musically gifted Pokemon named Meloetta. Meloetta was said to dance so lightly and beautifully and sing with such a spectacular voice that it brought joy to all who saw and heard it.

But sorrow darkened the world, and no one was spared from it, not even Meloetta. With this sorrow, it's melody was lost, and so were the special red shoes it wore.

Meloetta's song became a legend in and of itself, though, and once the melody was played, Meloetta remembered who it had been and the song, and joy was returned to the musical Pokemon.


Recent talk of music and talents reminded me of this story. I, however, am not musically gifted nor do I have the ability to recall a melody just by hearing it once.

Is there anyone capable of teaching some one to play an instrument here?

... What precisely are Pokemon?

Creatures native to the world I come from. They come in many breeds and kinds, and have fantastic abilities.

Do you tame them and use them in battles against one another?

Er... No. No, not really. By which I mean not at all as far as I know.

My world revolves around the catching, training and battling of Pokemon. I once thought it to be a terribly cruel thing, but I've since learned that not all trainers are abusive. It's been a difficult thing to change my mind on, since I was raised to believe all were like that, but I met several trainers that taught me many have an amazing connection with their Pokemon.

I still don't particularly find the idea of battles appealing, but I'm not about to try and stop anyone who enjoys them anymore. And they have other uses, as well. Some team up with their trainers to perform certain tasks that couldn't otherwise be done by humans.

... I'd just as soon rely on machines. They're more reliable and just as cute if you build them right.

There are Pokemon that are the results of machines being introduced in to the world, hinting that humans shape Pokemon evolution far more than was previously believed.

That said, from what I understand, entire economies revolve around trainers and gyms, so it would be difficult to replace such a thing entirely with machines or anything else for that matter.

That... Kinda scares me.

Yes. There are ones deliberately created, and others that are simply bi-products of man made products and activities.

... I guess I don't see it? I mean, there's sentient gynoids and androids where I'm from, but they're not self-reproducinating animals or the like...

Sadly as much as I've studied even I havdnt been able to come up with a conclusion as to how the phenomenon continues or even began. its a mystery of our world.
