Well, now that we all seem to have gotten over that... curse (an interesting one to say the least), I'd like to ask a small favor. Should anyone see Vanitas in the next few days, please wish him a belated happy birthday. I know you may have some differences with the boy, but I'd appreciate it; it isn't every day one turns eighteen you know!

Ah, which reminds me now that I started thinking about anniversaries and the like; for those of you who have been here for a year or longer, how have you coped? Do you still get homesick? Are you happier here with the friends you've made or would you rather be in your own world? Frankly I'm a bit torn--while I do miss Amestris from time to time, this place has actually started to grow on me. I may not be completely free here, but it's by far better than the alternatives. Though I'm not sure if I can imagine being here for another year...

It sounds like you may be coming down with a case of Stockholm Syndrome. Is that common here?

I have no affection whatsoever for our captors, I assure you. I'm sure there's plenty of people who do have something similar to that however but it doesn't affect my decisions in the long run.

Fair enough. I'm still trying to get my bearings here and you're virtually the first person I've come across to volunteer any opinion other than clawing at the walls.

[Granted most of his contact has been with people intending to find a way out or with new arrivals. He has little experience with those who are comfortable here. Well, there is Jet, but he's a bit of a special case considering what he would have to go back to.]

It's far better than the alternative of my fate in my world. It took me some getting used to life here but I've grown accustom to it--I've seen things here that I'd have never gotten the chance to before.

How long have you been here?

About two weeks. I can't imagine being here for over a year.
