[There is absolutely no sense in not acknowledging that something has happened, all the polite worries of "I don't want to be a bother" aside. This is a big change, and though Maka is not going to let it break her down, it still hurts like hell.

[That final confirmation reassures herself, falsely or not. Yes, he will come back, giving up hope is the absolute last thing she should be doing right now.]

A question that remains on her mind, however, is not how anyone could do gestures like this so easily. She always has. That's one thing she can thank her parents for. It's the fact that it's Kid she's doing this with. It should have sunk in by now, but she's still amazed at how determined he was to patch up their friendship, and how it evolved to something beyond that.
