[Ky studies the SFC seriously for a moment, second-guessing whether or not he ought to filter this away from certain people. Still, he'd chosen not to for reasons that seemed to make sense, and he'll allow those reasons to stand.]

I know most of you already, perhaps even well enough to not ask this question.

[He's probably barking up a useless tree, but he has to try, because what if their end is coming, what if they manage to live but are returned to their homes without remembering anything that happened here? What if he doesn't know what to account for in the future?]

But is there anyone here who can hear a confession?

In some ways, I suppose you could say that. A priest attains a level of holiness I can, and is therefore better positioned to serve God.

So he just- let's god know what you did and that you're confessing? What's that do then, exactly? I mean, you still did whatever you're confessing about.

Being able to truly regret and ask forgiveness is an important step towards repenting for what I've done.

I'm not a Catholic, but I've read the book about Jesus and God, and we've talked about them before. I can talk to you, if you like. Not as a confession, but just a conversation between friends.

[Sufferer settles himself at the table, folding his hands in front of him.]

Are you all right, Ky? You look troubled.

[Ky moves to make the pot, finding it much easier while he has something to do (but then, that's his whole life).]

I am certainly that. But it's...not really anything that would affect other people, just me.

[So it's likely not worth Sufferer worrying about.]

Be that as it may... it's still troubling to you, right?

[Sufferer glances over, his expression earnest and open.]

So why not unburden yourself? If I wouldn't be affected by it, then you have nothing to lose by talking about it with me.

[Ky still considers for a moment as he waits for the leaves to steep.]

This place, with the curses, has a way of warping our behaviour. Sometimes I do things I think I wouldn't if it weren't for that influence.

You're not the only one. I think we've all done things like that.

[Sufferer shrugs.]

I got in a fight with my moirail and tried to hit him in the face with my horns during a curse once. However, we both understood that it was a curse that made me act that way, and we laughed about it once it was all over.

Perhaps the larger problem is that...I don't regret it as much as I should.

I'm not really sure how I feel about it, in fact.

[Which scares him. He can make himself regret it, at least, but only when he can step back and think about it objectively.]
