[Equius goes out on the porch to wait for LIly.]

[Lily takes a swig of her strengthening potion and then apparates to Equius' front door with a loud POP! She's about to knock on the door when she sees that he's sitting on the porch. She takes the few steps to him, arms open.]

Oh, Equius, love.

[Equius gets to his feet and takes a few steps towards her, then pauses.]

You took your potion? And it's working?

[She nods and holds out her hand.]

Shake my hand, if you want to make sure.

[No, he trusts her. He just wanted to make sure.]

[Equius crosses the porch in two large steps and wraps Lily in a hug, lifting her off her feet as he squeezes her to his chest.]

[Even with the potion, the action pushes the air from Lily's lungs in a heavy sigh. She wraps her arms around him and squeezes tight.]

I'm so sorry, love.

[He really appreciates this hug, Lily, you've got no idea.]

It's so hard...

[She pets his head as they hug.]

I know. I'd only just gotten to meet Harry. This place is not always kind to us.

[Equius shakes his head against her shoulder.]

They shouldn't be allowed to mess with us like this!

[She squeezes him tighter for a moment and sighs again.]

I know. I know, love. Try to think of everything this place has given you, though. Don't forget that. I'm still here. Karkat and Gamzee are still here. Your ancestor is here.

[Sniffle.]

[Does he ever. He's dead back in his own timeline, so whatever this place throws at him, it's infinitely preferable to that.]

[She pets his head and makes soft shooshing sounds.]
