Video; A Little Bit Lost

[The first thing that shows on this video is the ceiling--it looks like Matthew dropped the SFC, and that's why it clicked on.

And then there's a crash as something hits the wall, and then he kicks the SFC until it spins and clatters against the wall.

He's a bit of a mess, expression pained and voice hoarse, and he clearly doesn't care if he's seen or not.

and then he falls to his knees and draws himself back to rest against the foot of the bed in the room.]

...Damn you, Vatheon.

Fine. Fine. You win!

[A shuddering breath and he looks away, staring out the window.]

...You win.

Ah! When did you get so bossy?

You'll be a terror at this rate!

[But he accepts the tea, peering at it thoughtfully.]

[aspiring]

Must've gotten it from you.

[He sips at his own.]

Bossy? Me? You've got it all wrong!

I'm a loyal servant, after all.

[He sips the tea, nodding.]

Hey, this is pretty good.

[aspiring]

Bossy loyal servant, then.

[He rolls his eyes.]

Thanks. Were you expecting otherwise?

Just a loyal servant.

[Chuckle.]

Serra is the bossy one.

[...hmm.]

Well...! I wasn't sure if your talents extended to the kitchen.

[aspiring]

That loud, annoying girl, right? I kind of remember her.

[...]

You do learn to pick up certain skills when you're on your own, you know.

...Yeah.

You do.

[A pause, and--]

How long have you been on your own?

[He just...quietly sips his tea.]

[aspiring]

... About five years. You?

[redcloakedthief]

[...is it finally past-sharing time? It might be past-sharing time.]

Parents...? I couldn't tell you. They're not dead, just...somewhere.

[...]

How long have I been alone...? Ha. It'd only be a month back home now, I think. 2 years, thanks to this place.

[aspiring]

... Somewhere? That's awfully vague.

[redcloakedthief]

[...a slow shrug.]

They couldn't support all of us. They could barely support themselves.

I ended up in Ostia...you know, with my sticky fingers.

[stealing to survive as a kid, that sort of sob story; he doesn't see the need to delve into it.]

They're probably somewhere in Lycia, some village...I was looking for them before [Leila died] I came here.

[aspiring]

[He stares, incredulous.]

So they just abandoned you?

[redcloakedthief]

[...shrug.]

Something like that. You sound surprised, but it's not all that uncommon, really.

At least...not in a place like that. My home's...nothing like this place.

[aspiring]

... I guess not.

[He's silent for a few moments, before, with all the wisdom of a 19-year-old, he states—]

Your world sucks.

[redcloakedthief]

[An arched eyebrow and he laughs.]

You say that even before hearing about the megalomanic trying to summon dragons to destroy all human civilization!

[aspiring]

I... what?

[He vaguely remembers Saya mentioning dragons once, but...]

Seriously, do you come from some kind of fairy tale?

[redcloakedthief]

It's okay. The dragons were a fairy tale in my world too.

[He shrugs.]

Your world sounds kind of dull, to be honest. No magic? No dragons. No pegasi and wyverns? How boring!

[aspiring]

I happen to like the peace, thanks. And we have technology, which is good enough for me.

[redcloakedthief]

...Yes. The technology here is incredible.

If I were to miss something from here--

[...ha.]

I suppose that wouldn't be the only thing, now that I think about it.

[aspiring]

... Yeah. I can think of a few things I'd miss about this place too.

[Or, well. Mainly just one now, isn't it?]

[He's a little touched despite himself.

And it's rather sudden but--]

D'you want to move in with me, Billy?

[An uncharacteristic fumble with his words.]

Ah, well. I mean. It would be safer, in future Vatheon induced insanity...

[aspiring]

[... Unfortunately, Billy happened to have been sipping his tea.

And so, when Matthew brings up the question, Billy chokes, coughing and spluttering into his hand before he stares at Matthew.]

I—wha—?

[redcloakedthief]

[alksdnals d-don't look at him that way.

He clears his throat.]

Just a suggestion, that's all...

[aspiring]

[He looks away, a bit red.]

I... I...

[Ground, swallow him up now.]

I, uh, well—I mean, I guess I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to it...

[redcloakedthief]

[...heh. A faint grin and he nods.]

Good. It'll make things better, I think.

[just...that little bit.]
