Day 213 - [Accidental Video / Open to Action]

[The video clicks on when Roxas starts awake, hitting it accidentally. He's not in his room but on the couch in the living area, the TV on and just beginning to scroll through the credits of some movie. After his exposure to film at his birthday he thought he'd try renting something to help pass the night. He must have drifted off at some point and been woken by the finale.

He turns the TV off, regretting it as the reflection in the screen shows him a face that isn't his. Yesterday, he thought it was just another nightmare, but now he knows better. It's unsettling, but he's trying not to freak out.

Turning away from the screen, he notices Axel sprawled nearby as if watching, too. Or at least, he thinks it's Axel, but the SFC shows nothing there. Roxas tries to smile.]

Couldn't sleep either?

[But the figure isn't moving. And then he notices the wisps of black coming off of his friend, dissolving into nothing.

Like when he died.

Already on edge, a panic seizes him now. Something got to Axel. Something from these nightmares hurt him and now he's... Roxas tries to reach him, but trips over the coffee table and falls. By the time he scrambles back up, Axel's nearly vanished, and then... gone.]

Roxas! Roxas are you okay?!

[ Sora had been kept away by his own nightmares. Maybe it was a spot of good luck that he saw the video. ]

[Roxas is slow to respond. He didn't realize the SFC was on so the voice comes out of nowhere, making him tense up again. He ignores it for a few moments as he stares at where Axel used to be.

Finally he goes over to find his SFC in the couch. It's dark in the room but his eyes look moist.]

A-axel's...

Axel's fine Roxas...he's probably just in his room.

B-but I saw him...

Saw him where? Roxas no one else is there...

Because he's... gone... now.

[ Sora frowned. ]

Roxas...I've been watching you since you got up from the couch...no one else was there...you had a nightmare or something.

[Staring.

First at the screen and then back over where Axel was. Where he thought Axel had been. Then Roxas presses his free hand to his face, inhaling sharply.]

...it wasn't him...

Roxas....

[ Sora frowned wishing he knew what to say seeing as how his own fear seemed to be very similar. ]

Want me to come over?

[Roxas switches it to voice-only but even then Sora can probably hear a few sniffs before he says anything.]

...okay.

Just hang tight Roxas!

[ A few moments later at Sora's at the door. No point in knocking he just lets himself right on in. He heads straight to the living room, hoping Roxas is still there. ]

Roxas?

[He's still there, sitting on the couch now holding a pillow to his chest. He loosens his grip on it as he sees Sora, looking a little embarrassed about it but mostly just trying not to look upset.]

H-hey.

[ Sora waste no time in heading over to Roxas and wrapping him into a tight hug. He doesn't say anything, just holds his brother close. ]

[Roxas tenses up for about a second before just relaxing into the hug, not saying anything more either.]

[ Sora had no intent of letting Roxas go any time soon. He just held him to let him know it was okay and that whatever it was, it was nothing to be afraid of. Maybe by now Sora was doing it a little for himself too. ]

[Roxas shifts a little to hug him back, closing his eyes so he can't see his shadow or the reflection in the TV.]

Everything's okay. Right?

Yeah, everything's still okay.

[ Well as okay as things could be living underwater in a bubble. Sora made the mistake of looking up over Roxas's shoulder. His own fears melded with Roxas's and he saw Riku standing there with that same black aura surrounding him as he faded away. Sora shut his eyes and pushed his face into Roxas's hair. So that's what he'd seen...only it must have been Axel instead of Riku. ]

[Roxas feels Sora hugging him tighter, and for the first time he thinks... maybe it's not just for him.]

...

You wanna stay here a while?

[ Sora nodded. Going back home alone didn't seem like a good idea. ]

Yeah...I'd like that.

Okay.

I guess- your place is a little lonely, huh?

[ Sora nodded again. ]

Mickey and the animals are there but...

[ He didn't mind staying with the king, but on nights like tonight? It just made him miss Riku and Kairi all the more and he was grateful for Roxas being here. Besides none of the animals in the apartment were his. ]

Maybe you should come over more often.

Um.. we could have sleepovers or something.

You sure that would be okay?

[ Sora was friends with Axel too, but this was Axel and Roxas's space and they were best friends. Sora didn't want to be a third wheel. ]

Yeah. Axel likes you, I don't think he'd mind having you around sometimes.

[But if he ever does ask Axel out, he's not inviting you along. :|]

[ Sora smiled softly and nodded. ]

Okay, I'd like that.

[ No worries there, he understands the meaning of bro times. ]
