[Maybe the problem isn't that Ky has too much spare time, maybe he simply hasn't formulated the right things to do to fill his time. Clearly cooking is a skill that many people have that he lacks -- although he's not sure it's one that he can really obtain, since he recently tried and the fact that Sol lives above him makes him even more self-conscious than usual when Ky starts to be making his own smoke.
It has become clear to him that simply taking up more patrols with the Defense Force isn't ideal, and he can and has exercised but even that leaves him wanting something more.
And, well, why not? If he ends up not remembering or retaining anything from here then it's not really a loss, and if he does gain a skill then it can help him.]
What sort of things have people been able to learn that they consider useful? Not so much magic that can't be taught, but, for instance, how to stitch a wound, or fire a bow?
You don't have to be able to teach it...although I suppose it would help me if you could and were willing to.

Assume it works due to intention to phrase own learning in ways to manipulate own source of power, rather than attempt to learn a new energy source.

Magic is actually one of the things I can practice on my own, however. I'm more interested in other skills.

I've also been around a bit and I've learned quite a lot about how to get along in the world.

I've been a Knight myself, although from a different world I'm sure, but I have had an opportunity to learn much of what you're suggesting.
[Even if he still might have a ways to go on the 'how to get along in the world' route.]

Martial arts of various types. Computer maintenance and hacking. If you're looking to pass the time, there's chess, checkers, or go...

You work with [black]tech?

In a manner of speaking. I doubt the type of interface I'm used to with exists here.

...I am uncertain of how compatible our forms of magic are, but if they stem from a similar source, I believe I might be able to teach at least some basic spells. If not, I am open to teaching a style of unarmed combat.
I...definitely thought I responded to this. I'm so sorry.
Oh, that might be good. Most of what I know has to do with armed combat, after all.
Figured that was the case since I've done that before. No big deal. :>
I am free most any time, so I am open to scheduling our first session whenever is most convenient for you.

[He doesn't know Ky's hangups with cooking. And... yes, he had to learn laundry. Shoosh, he's a noble! He had people to do that for him!]

[ Ky's quite neat, and wearing a uniform makes laundry somewhat easier. ]
And there was a time when war was most of what there was. I'm grateful we've made it past that point, of course.
[ But he still sacrificed his childhood to it, and that makes it hard to figure out how to do something different. ]
