Look what I found!

[That sure is a guinea pig Link's holding up to the SFC. The guinea pig, to its credit, seems pretty chill - it twitches its nose at being picked up, but is otherwise rather relaxed. Link sets him down again in his lap, readjusting the SFC a little.]

I found him in my closet this morning. But I don't know what he is or what he eats or anything, and I think he's hungry.

[These are the eyes of a sad, hungry guinea pig who's just spent the night in a closet. Someone help?]

If anyone knows anything about them, let me know!

[A short while after that broadcast, Link can be found in the kitchen, offering the guinea pig different treats to try and see what actually... works. Said guinea pig is happily chilling on the table on a tea towel, watching Link in something that could possibly be bemusement.]

It's not a rat! ...I don't know what it is, actually.

[Whatever he is, he's getting scooped up and shown to Zelda.] See? He's pretty cute! I found him in my closet and the SFC is saying that lots of animals got out, so I guess he got lost...

[Sniff, sniff. The guinea pig twitches its nose at Zelda.]

I see. Well then, let's take him back where he belongs now.

[Is that something Link was trying to feed the animal or a little poop on the table? Please say it was something he was trying to feed it.]

[It's a raisin! No fear here. The little poop is in the tea towel.]

[Also, he deflates a little.] Oh... do we have to...?

[Ahh, no, don't look so sad Link!]

Well, that is... he would be happier at his home, don't you think? We don't even know what he is or how to take care of him.

That's why I asked! So I can learn. Besides, I didn't know anything about chocobos at first, but Asi's fine, right?

Yes, but Asi stays outdoors so it is not a problem.

[Ugh. Why is she incapable of saying no to Link? He just looks so excited about it, though! Zelda kneels down to peer at the guinea pig closely.]

Look at its teeth. It probably eats similar food to a rabbit.

[She straightens up.]

If you want to keep it, you will have to build it a hutch outside until you're positive it's absolutely litter trained! If this sort of animal can even be trained.

Okay! I guess it's not like the weather's bad, huh? [He gives her a grateful smile, then tucks the guinea pig under his arm and goes to the fridge.]

Rabbits eat carrots, right? I saw a picture of one eating a carrot.

Yes, they do. I would offer it a variety of vegetables and plenty of water. We can ask Duke what it is, he knows quite a bit about animals.

[He'll probably even have a conversation with it. Maybe having it around won't be so terrible.]

Okay. Hopefully he'll like them! [Now, what do they have... collecting a carrot, some lettuce, and a few grapes.]

[Hmm. That is a pretty big carrot in comparison to the little, little guinea pig... Link sets it down on the tea towel again, and chops a bit of carrot off.]

Have you seen any of the animals around? I saw a lot that I didn't see in Hyrule.

[Now, what would be a good-sized water bowl...]

Really? I think I might have seen a pony and a goat, but nothing unusual like this... thing.

[Not that goats were all that common in Hyrule, but they were present in the world - just not that particular country (yet).]

It is to be expected, though. Vatheon is connected to many worlds, we will see lots of animals we are unfamiliar with.

A guinea pig, huh? [Link jots it down on a piece of paper ('giny pig', good luck with that, Link) - he'll head to the library after this.] I've already given him some lettuce and carrots since Zelda said he looked a bit like a rabbit, but grass should be easy too!

[Said guinea pig is getting held up, and Link carefully makes him wave one paw.] Thanks for telling me! Have you see many before?

No. Not really. We have a lot of work so I don't think anyone in the Family would keep them as pets... unless... _{[he makes a face.]} ...Jolly had one or a few of them.
