Experiment 002 [Video]

[After getting her assignment from the Defense Force, a certain little red-head wants to check out the quadrant she's assigned to. So far, what she's finding is interesting to say the least. A pirate ship is always interesting.]

Well, this fills my ominous places quota for the day. So, a pirate ship. I haven't seen one like this in quite sometime. Though I suppose it does make sense. We at the bottom of an ocean so it's only natural there are shipwrecks even down here.

[She tilts her head up to stare at the rigging of the ship and frowns a little before shaking her head.]

I wonder what brought it down here.

Shipwrecks!? Are there skeletons, zombies or monsters around them?!

Where are they, lady!?

Well aren't we eager~. They're in the south-west quadrant. So far, I'm not sure if there are any skeletons, but it does look like there might be ghosts.

Ah? What's a quadrant?

Luffy's currently hanging upside-down from a tree.]

[....It looks like she's going to have her hands full with this kid.]

[Give her a few minutes before she sends him a map with a giant arrow pointing to where she was.]

[A map was something he could work with. Luffy stretched his arm out, hand grabbing a tree branch which he held onto and pulled himself higher with.]

Anyway, lady--what's your name!? I'm Luffy!

I'm a rubber man. [As if this was normal. Luffy was really just used to being asked that question at any speed.

He stretched once more, held on for a moment and then let himself get shot towards the clearing by the quadrant Washu was in.]]

Do ya have an interest in buccaneers or jus' the ship getting in? [Studying what he could see from the feed.] Don't think anyone knows what drew that in. Might have been the giant squid that brought it or the change with the bubble. It was a might bit before my time here but my bucko was around.

A bit of both really. I'm curious somewhat curious about other pirate cultures, but mostly its curiosity about how the ships got here.

[Pause, did he say giant squid>]</small How big of a cephalopod are we talking about?

[Yup. GIANT SQUID] It couldn't fit inside the dome. It did get it's legs in to make a mess of the city. It came a little more than a year ago, but a bit after the ship.

Did it? How exactly did it get it's legs in the bubble? Do you know?

Not a clue. Just stuck 'em through I suppose. We were too busy trying to take them out. It took a banjo being played right before the thing stopped it's attack. Might also be the reason that particular instrument isn't available in normal shops.

A banjo?

A banjo, lass. Stringed instrument that is round at the bottom. [Best he can describe it.] My mate is the one who played the right notes to pacify the creature.

I know what a banjo is. I'm just surprised that's what pacified the beast. I've heard of a flute or a harp doing the job before, but not a banjo.

In case ya haven't noticed, this whole place is a bit of a special case.

[A pause as he tapped the table thoughtfully.] Been exploring the caverns up at the top district? Deep in there is where the banjo was found.

I hadn't noticed.

I haven't been there just yet. But, if that's the case I may have to nudge it closer to the top of my list of places to check out.

Bad weather, probably. Are there cannonball holes in the ships?

There might be. I haven't taken that close of a look yet.

That's another possibility. We may have to get a better look to make sure.

[ In less than a minute, Mithos was walking up to her. Way too fact to have gotten there by foot. Mithos looked over the ship before looking at Washu. ]

Indeed. And also an effective one. He has a surprisingly competent understanding of machinery, for being entirely self-taught.

Self-taught huh? I may have to borrow him sometime just to see how good this kid is.

While he might object to the notion of being "borrowed," I'm sure he wouldn't mind showing off.

Oh well~. I'll just have to ask when he wants to do a little showing off then.

[Hello, Washu. Here's another crabby person, if not for the hair. Mostly the hair's just a mess, aside from being home to horns, not to mention the various other trollish features below on his face.]

You're lucky enough that I'm one of the few who's been around long enough to have been here when that showed up. Almost two years ago this ship showed up in the middle of the night, and kind of split the city for moment until it righted itself, I guess is the only way to put it. That's how the coral split in half.

The ghost pirates, assbiters that they are, also liked to attack at night. But eventually, some people gathered together, went into that rickety fucking maze of a ship, and destroyed something in there - it's been too long and I wasn't involved myself, so I don't remember what - and that ended the whole ghost pirate attack.

[Another troll huh? Well Darkleer did say there were several of them running around.. so which one was this one? She'll find out soon enough!]

I guess I am lucky enough to get the attention of someone knowledgeable about this place~. All sources of information are wonderful resources.

Are there still ghosts lurking around and how did something incorporeal affect the physical plane? Do you know what kind of pirates they were? Or were they somewhat generic?

If I'm knowledgeable, it's only because I've been here longer than most and I actually give a fuck to learn what I can.

You'll find the ghosts in the ship if you care to look - fair warning that it's basically a maze in there - and I have zero clue how they affected things. Do I look like a ghost scientist?

You might also notice that I am emphatically not human. I guess I'd say generic, but I know basically nothing about earth pirates or how to classify them.

Of course I noticed you aren't human. Troll right?

Since you've been here that long, I would love to sit down for tea and hear any history about this place you can tell me. You could say I'm a bit of a scholar.

...And what kind of maze are we talking about? Stationary or does it change on its own?
