They have some nice, hot tea at a small cafe, but it's not doing much..

[There's disappointment in his voice, it seems. And coldness. He's definitely shivering and he doesn't like this. HE GREW UP IN A CITY OF SNOW HE'S TOO OLD FOR THIS

According to some others... with it being a curse, physical contact is needed to provide warmth.

It appears I'll have to freeze to death, then.

I suppose there's some... morbid comfort in know that if you do freeze to death, you'll return. And likely after this curse is over.

Optimism is a hard way to put it, given the circumstances.

I'm at the cafe near the Central Plaza.

I will be there shortly then.

[Jade can be found in a dark blue turtle neck and slacks with a scarf around him to attempt to ward off the cold. He's got his arms crossed and his hands tucked under his shoulders to try to not freeze.

In front of him, there is a large set up of tea.]

[Hubert is in his usual uniform, plus a scarf that seems rather out of place with it. But it works, at least a tiny bit.

It doesn't take him long to find Jade, and he waves from the door before making his way over]

[Jade waves back to him politely, and there's an empty chair for Hubert across from him.]

One of these days, we'll get a handle on these curses, I hope.

From what I understand that would require swapping one power source for another, and one that works at that.

[Hubert takes the empty chair, sitting down and pulling at his scarf a little.]

Unfortunately so, and the scientists are far more liable to keep things as they are.

[He sips his tea, expression thinly veiled irritation.]

They do enjoy their odd, disturbing status quo...

If any of us were in that position, I'm sure we'd have far less qualms than we do now

[Hell, if he was allowed to do human experimentation with no consequences, he'd be all for it, ok.]

It's a fact of human nature that we crave power and rule.

[His words are somewhat dampened by his shivering.]

I would have thought human nature to be more faceted than that. I'm not arguing that at the base that is a craving, of course.

[Jade chuckled.]

In my experience, it's few and far between that are truly content with their lot in life.

[Sneeze.]

I don't disagree, but I can't say that I've seen the majority go after just power and rule. Some simply attempt to elevate their current position to something more satisfying. A worker becoming a business owner, for example. Certainly it comes with some power, but not as lofty as you seem to make it sound.

Then our worlds must be different.

[A small smile at that. In his- albeit pessimistic- experience, his view on humanity was somewhat tainted by some of the more unfortunate people he had met. Very few hadn't demanded something above their station in life.]

Or I haven't met the right people. Either scenario is entirely plausible.

[Hubert wasn't nearly as optimistic as his brother, but he wasn't exactly a pessimist either. If anything he fell closer to 'realist', but even he knew that his experiences were colored by a somewhat privileged upbringing in a place where there were very few who found reason to strive for beyond what they were capable of handling.]

T'would be fortunate.

[They were from different worlds, but many of the worlds seemed similar, despite the odds of that happening.]

But it is fascinating, different worlds and all that.
