Well, Martin is more along the lines of "I'm not afraid of anything" than Karkat's... whatever it is.

I don't see why he's so adamant about it, he really is such a polite boy.

Karkat's just grouchy cause he ain't really all that grouchy and he knows he ain't which makes him grouch.

Maybe he's just all pretending that he ain't scared of nothing so you won't be scared of nothing.

...That would make sense. The-- the pretending part.

[Man oh man, has she had to do that for her children hundreds of times. The plow, the cat, moving the house, losing Johnathan - all kinds of horrible times where she couldn't panic or cry in front of her kids.]

Lots of peeps all like to up and be pretending about things in front of other bros. Ain't all get why, but if it gets their glad on, it's chill, I guess.

But you also gotta be trusting in your peeps and letting them know how you feel, right? Else they can't be helping you with stuff what up and troubles your pan.

Well, in some cases, you can't be relying on them when they're already relying on you. When you're raising children, you need to be strong enough to protect them, no matter what.
