[ Hey, guess who's on the video this time? A certain blonde angel - or someone whom others don't know who is an angel, sitting on his bed, while a self-levitating, strange-looking, purple sword slowly rotates in place, the point of the sword pointing downwards. Mithos glares at it, as if having a silent conversation with it. ]

You really can't take us home, can you?

[ Mithos accuses, while the sword makes no response. Why is he talking to it? Does it even talk back? Who knows. ]

[Oh Mithos, Dhaos is pretty sure he just said that was exactly the case. Still, it looks like a long explanation is in order. He takes a moment to collect himself before beginning his tale.]

Derris Kharlan's Great Tree died due to a war, so I went in search of a seed. It...took a very long time, but I finally found Aselia, and with it Yggdrasil and its guardian, Martel. As the use of Magitech threatened the tree, just as it destroyed our own, I sought to convince the leaders of the nearest kingdom to cease building the weaponry at the very least. ...I came away from my encounter with the project lead with the label of "Demon King" and the first of may attempts on my life. ...And with my only allies being monsters and true demons, what could I do but attempt to stop them by force?

[He closes his eyes.]

I'm...not ready to divulge the details, but a band of "heroes" rose to fight me. Twice they forced me to jump through time. Their summoner must have made a pact with Origin, for the third and final time they fought me, the swordsman was wielding that very blade, though it looked just a bit different.

[ Mithos definitely didn't remember any kind of "demon king" in the Kharlan War, and this man was most certainly not of Niflheim. That could only mean... ]

So, Magitechnology did return. I knew it. Then reuniting the worlds really was for nothing.

[ All the while missing the point of Dhaos' explanation. ]

Just answer one thing for me. Was I the one using the Eternal Sword against you?

That would be impossible. You died nearly four thousand years before my birth.

[ Woah, wait. Wait. ]

I... I did?

[ Colette never told him that! Well, okay, she did, but Mithos purposefully ignored it. ]

[And it is only now that Dhaos remembers that other people have more regard for their own lives than he does. Guilt sets in once again.]

Ah, well, that's only on my timeline. As you're still alive from when you're from, you may yet live. Time...is not set in stone after all. It would make me an impossibility otherwise.

[Again, Dhaos doesn't quite seem to understand the consequences of implying time travel is a perfectly achievable goal. It's a far to easily ability to abuse after all.]

Don't lie to me!

[ It all makes sense now. Why Colette and Raine were so kind to him. Why Zelos avoided mentioning anything related to his future. How the worlds were rejoined, something he wouldn't even begin to think about doing without Martel and a plan in place to stop magitechnology from coming back. The way Dhaos greeted him ("You must be Mithos Yggdrasill," as if an angel wouldn't know who he is).

It was because he died. It was because he failed, probably in both of his life-long goals. Mithos drops to his knees, the SFC dropping out of his hands and landing face-down on the ground. The only thing heard is Mithos doing something between sobbing and hyperventilating. ]

I'm not lying. [His tone is firm, almost angry at the accusation.

The moment the SFC falls though, it startles him.]

Mithos...? [The question is much softer, more tentative. His face falls at the sound of sobbing. He hadn't meant to make Mithos cry; hadn't meant anything more than to answer Mithos' question truthfully. And now... What do I...? How do I...? Dhaos can admit that he doesn't know what to do. Feelings aren't his forte by any means. But perhaps...

He gets up and makes his way out into the living room, still cradling the SFC with a rather lost and guilty look on his face.]

...Zelda?

[Zelda is, as usual, at work at the coffee table, various papers on what they know about the Lamufao (and THEORIES about said coral) laid out neatly. She's blessedly unaware of what's going on with Mithos on the other end of the communicator as she looks up to Dhaos curiously.]

Yes, what is it?

[...oh my. He doesn't look well...]

...I... Mithos is crying...

[If it were anyone else, he would have closed himself off. To her though, one who knew what he had done, yet did not condemn him for it... Only she was allowed to see just how helpless he felt in this situation.]

[Mithos... Zelos would surely be angry with her, but what else is she to do? Zelda squeezes Dhaos's shoulder gently, taking his SFC. When she speaks, her voice is soft but clear.]

Mithos?

[ He finally hears a voice. It sounds at first like his sister, but quickly remembers the SFC. He gingerly takes a hold of it, but doesn't look into it; only pulls it near, placing it right-side up, so that he at least shows that he's listening. His sobbing slows a bit, as well. ]

What is it, Mithos? What happened?

[Zelda knows that he's a tyrant who is thousands of years old. She knows he's committed terrible crimes. He's nothing like the young boy he appears to be, and yet... she sounds genuinely concerned for him. Someone facing that level of despair is something she just can't ignore.]

[Dhaos remains silent, for he's pretty sure anything he says would just make it worse right now, and...Mithos really doesn't deserve that. He'll just let Zelda handle it for the moment.]

[ All of that initial sadness is starting to boil over into rage. Quick, defuse it. ]

I failed. Now the half-elves of my world will never be free of hate.

What do you mean, you failed? Did someone tell you the future? Many timelines converge in this place, it is possible that the future you have been told of is not the one you will go back to face. I have met someone from my world who claims to have died at the end of our fight, but I know that in my timeline, he survived...

[Oh, it hurts to speak of Link like that, but it's true. Hearing "the future" means little in this place, not without confirmation that it is indeed your own timeline that you're hearing.]

[Hesitantly, Dhaos speaks again.]

I...did not intend to upset you. I just...I sometimes forget that most people see there as being a definitive timeline. There is... If time were an unchanging thing, I would not be able to traverse it...

[He looks to Zelda uncertainly, as if hoping for a sign that he's on the right track with his words.]

[ He starts trembling, shaking again. ]

Then... I need to kill them.

[ Before they have the opportunity to get stronger. ]

[Almost as if to contrast his renewed trembling, her voice firms. Still, it remains kind.]

No. It will do no good here, the coral simply revives those who have been slain five days later. It would be best if you could come to some sort of understanding, but I know that may be difficult... perhaps even impossible. Even so, open hostilities will harm everyone, yourself included. There is no point in violence if your enemies cannot be eliminated, it will only cause grudges.

It is possible that none of the people gathered here are from the same timeline as you, anyway... if you do not recall perishing, it may not even happen. The future is full of infinite possibilities.

I can't fail my sister... I can't.

[ It's like he's not listening. ]

[It's times like this that Zelda wishes Zelos was a little more open. She knows part of the story at least, but she can only fumble around half-blind while trying to calm him. Hadn't he said that the Chosen system was created to bring someone back to life...?]

You haven't failed anyone, Mithos. The fact that you have shown up here can be considered a blessing. The knowledge of so many worlds is gathered in this place, you may be able to find a way to revive her properly - in her own body.

[It's preferable to using the bodies of the Chosen if he hates humans, isn't it?]

It's not just that.

[ Honestly, if she became a Summon Spirit, it wouldn't be that bad. It wasn't what he wanted, but it's better than the alternative. ]

She had one last wish before she died. A world without discrimination against half-elves.

[Does... he honestly think a world filled with brutality and fear at the hands of half-elves will cause them to be accepted?]

Wouldn't it be better if you could work to create that together?

[Martel, wherever you are... your brother is crazy. Please show up in Vatheon and control him.]

Why, so humans can just kill her again?

[ Mithos shook his head. ]

I do want her back... more than anything. But I don't want to lose her again, either.
