[Tatsumi is sometimes able to unable to sleep at night, but he doesn't need that much sleep anyway. During his latest walk he noticed the coral is not glowing as bright as usual, but maybe it's just him? Either way, he might as well ask, because maybe someone else might confirm his suspicion.]

Good evening, Vatheon residents. Has anyone noticed the coral's glow has grown fainter since yesterday? Maybe I didn't notice it before, but I'm pretty sure last night it wasn't as bright as usual.

Oh another subject. Zelda told me about the defense group you have in the city. I would like to offer my services, in case you need them. Alternatively, I also have experience working as a secretary.

The glow does seem to be a little fainter, doesn't it? And all these flowers... many people are acting strangely.

Yes, it seems fainter... And I a couple of people acting strangely around the flowers, but I thought they were usually that way...

It's not natural. I was near one of the flowers myself recently and I felt a significant boost in mood.

[Considering the fact that her housemate is dead and rotting and may not be coming back... that's not natural.]

I wonder if this is a plot to distract us from something else. Like the coral being fainter...

I was thinking the same thing. We are its power source, after all. If there's trouble, they would want to keep us complacent rather than risk us taking action while it's weakened.

Well that makes perfect sense, of course. It could also mean someone wants to steal the coral's power while keeping us otherwise occupied.

There have been theories tossed around that the coral may be being used to power something other than the barrier around this city. The natives of Vatheon are at war with something. If that is going badly, the drain would be more apparent.

A war? I didn't know that... You think this might be related to the war? Is that why this world pulled us in? To fight their war?

That's hard to say. Here, read these for yourself. They were recovered awhile back. This one was recovered from the old church...

[She sends him a copy.]

This is all very interesting information. So what Mr. Phantomhive said about us being an experiment has some truth to it...

[Ponders.] The conflict situation is delicate, and it seems our being here strengthens the barrier, am I correct? Or is this not yet certified? [He sighs.]

What is your theory about all of this?

"All of this" is a rather broad topic, isn't it? At the moment, I'm favoring the theory that the war has made the surface uninhabitable - something in the air.

[Zelda undoes just the very top of her dress, revealing her mark.]

These marks connect us to the Lamufao, but the locals do not bear them. The papers make it sound as if something the coral gives off allows us to survive both down here and on the surface. It's not too strange, the natural role of coral is to purify after all. Unfortunately, being connected to it has some side effects and they are not willing to expend their own people on it just yet.

Oh, well, I mean there is a lot of fragmented information on those papers. That theory you have highly likely. Otherwise, why bother to experiment with an underwater city? It does not seem very convenient, because most of the people here require air to breathe. Should the bubble fail...

[He looks at his own mark.] I had wondered about these... [Sighs.] Well, what a nice way to find out if it works or not... I suppose most of the residents don't know any of this?

You would be surprised at that. I think that many of them know a great deal. They give us anything we need for free if we merely show them the mark, after all. They seem very... grateful.

You mean the locals? I'll keep that in mind, I haven't had much contact with them, to be honest.

What about the other foreigners, do they know?

There is no concentrated effort to inform people, no. Most seem... disinterested.

[It doesn't stop Zelda from making "public service announcements" anyway.]

I understand. That explained why everyone was so easily distracted with the flowers. I almost got caught in the euphoria myself, to be honest.

[Zelda sighs exasperatedly, but there's a bit of fondness to it as well.]

Someone keeps delivering them to me. It's difficult to not be affected by them, to be honest.

He probably means well. Besides, it's to be expected with such a beautiful Lady. You must have a few suitors. But yes, it's hard not to be affected, as well as to turn them away. Unless you don't mind being impolite to the person who delivers them.

Oh... no, I don't take offense. I just... hadn't thought of it, I suppose. Marriage would not be out of the question, even here... especially if the workings of the coral can be uncovered.

[And especially if she can help Hyrule at the same time. Looking for a king in Vatheon? Well, it's a little distasteful, but so were the options at home.]

[She returns his smile, though it's more than a little shy. Relations of that sort had been pushed to the back of her mind since arriving here. A husband, is it...]
