Ah... I seem to have gotten a handle on this device... I think...
[Ioder peers closely at the SFC in his hand, head tilting slightly to the side thoughtfully. For all his confusion, he looks slightly bemused. His first couple of weeks in Vatheon have been... interesting, to say the least.]
My cousin, Estellise, informed me that I should make an introduction here. My name is Ioder and-- I've never kissed anyone, not in the 18 years I've been alive--
[The bemused expression is gone in a flash, replaced by wide green eyes and hands over his mouth, voice coming out muffled behind them]
O... oh... so this is that curse-- Sometimes when I'm alone, I sing silly songs to myself to pass the time, because days in the palace were just that lonely--
[His hands clench tighter, eyes closing. Eventually he manages enough composure to reach forward...]
Perhaps I should do this another time...
[and turn the device off before it gets any worse]

[There's a long pause before he types again.]
Normally this city works just fine, even with its quirks. I don't mind it. But things like this curse - things that mess with who a person is and how much they want to lie about - make me question why we're all here in the first place and what kind of bastard would take such pleasure in causing people embarrassment and pain without their consent..
Re: [Text]
It leaves me to question if it's even possible for a person to be behind this all. At least a person as you and I might know them to be. Because humans can be awful, but I've seen things that put human horrors to shame.
[Text]
Even ordinary people can be mad enough to avoid any reason behind their actions. Enough so that wars are started and lives are pointlessly taken for their selfish cause. And they wonder why people like me pursue revenge.
Ah. Anyways. The coral in the middle of the city is what most people point to as the source of all this. The local citizens are pretty religiously attached to it, and it does seem to have a lot of power. I'm just hesitant to say that it's the cause of everything - I've already dismissed Auldrant's religion due to spite, and I have no interest in getting involved with another.
[Text]
[okay, for all the things he's seen, he has to admit that actually sounds a tiny bit ridiculous. But he's not going to question it.
Out loud anyway.]
I understand what you mean, though. About ordinary people becoming unreasonable and reacting completely on instinct. My world was nearly destroyed because of similar actions and to this day I hate how truly powerless I was through it all.
[Text]
I sincerely try to think the best of those I come across. But I'm not so foolish as to assume that all men intend for good, or that man can't be behind much larger things. My homeland was destroyed and my family murdered because of the directions of one man, after all.
Well, I'm sure neither of us want to dwell on any of this for right now. Besides, I haven't introduced myself yet, have I? The name's Guy. Short for Gailardia.
Ah. But please. Just call me Guy.
[Text]
[he says nothing of the confessions this time. It's probably better, seeing as neither of them are really saying them of their own volition.]
Guy then? Alright, Guy. It's nice to meet you.
[Text]
I'll have to introduce myself properly after this whole mess is over... Ioder, right? This is really a messy way to meet new people, haha. I hope, in the meantime, you're able to find yourself a place to stay and companions to confide in.
[Whoa. He made it through a text without confessing anything. This is a welcome relief.]
[Text]
Yes, Ioder. And I agree with you whole-heartedly about what a mess this is.
[it's text, so of course Guy can't see it, but Ioder is chuckling to himself on the other end.]
My cousin has actually given me a place to stay until I can find my own. It's quite a bit of luck that she's here as well.
[Text]
[Whoops, that was short lived. And rude. Ouch.]
[Text]
But... Ioder's more than willing to be forgiving because of what's going on.]
I probably am lucky, yes. Though I feel terrible for not realizing she was missing in the first place, and she doesn't even know.

She had a rather unique way of dealing with the curse, if I remember correctly...
[Text]
[Text]
Ah. And.... tell her to remember to shut her communicator off if she's going to try it again.

[Oh, hello curse. Nice to see you again.]
[Text]
Although, honestly, I'd prefer that she's comfortable this time. Our last talk wasn't under the best of circumstances.
