caughtinanetwork | Fifth promise; accidental video

[If you're in the Lower District today, somewhere between the dividing line between the Middle and Lower Districts and the forest, you may have seen Rinoa running full speed. And if you have quick eyes, you might have seen why; she's been chasing after one of these little guys. This particular bugger got a hold of her SFC, and she's been in pursuit since he nabbed it right outside her home.

The video is accidentally kicked on when Rinoa manages to pelt something at the Unversed, knocking her SFC out of its grip. It clatters to the ground, spinning on its back. The camera lens is facing a random direction, but Rinoa can be see in its very periphery.

She ducks suddenly, just before the Flood launches at her. It doesn't move like a normal living thing. It's certainly not like any monster Rinoa's seen. It glides across the ground, almost like a shadow. Rinoa's backpedaling now, keeping her eyes on the thing.

However, it manages to slide past her and reemerge from behind. Before she can turn around in time, it snaps up from the ground and lands a hit on her. While it's nothing lethal or even that serious, it does draw blood, and it sends Rinoa stumbling back.

The sorceress at this point has had enough. Just as the creature leaps back to prepare another attack, Rinoa's hand snaps back and she conjures up a toasty Fira spell and whips it at the Unversed. It might be hard to see from the SFC, but one might notice a faint pair of angel wings that sprouted from her back when she cast the spell. Needless to say, once the spell is done, the sucker's fried, and the wings disappear quickly.

The impromptu battle over, Rinoa limps over to her SFC. She's got a hand over her wound, but when she moves the other hand to grab her communicator, she notices it's on. She mutters,]

Anyone know what that thing was?

Are you sure? I mean, I'm all the way by the forest. I could probably walk back okay...

I can fly, Rinoa~ I don't mind. Just stay put and I'll be right there, okay~?

Fly...? [She did not know that. At all.] Okay.

Mmmhmm~ See you in a sec.

[Johnny disconnects and a few minutes later there will be a swarm of bats encircling Rinoa before it reforms into the vampire before her, his hands filled with a first aid kit and a jar.]

Hello, beautiful~ Let me see it.

[When he said flying, Rinoa meant that he had wings. Almost like hers, although his were likely more tangible and blah blah. She had to think about something in the interim!

But man oh man was she not expecting bats. Rin flings her arms over her head and ducks when they come and encircle her. Natural girly reaction. But once they disappear, she looks up and hey, there's Johnny.]

Oh, hey. Bats, huh. [Mental note: bats = Johnny.]

It's right here. [Moves her leg to show him the cut on her thigh.]

[He smirks and sinks to one knee to look at the wound.]

Yeah, bats.

Hmm...too bad it's not your arm, I could just lick it and it'd heal up in seconds...your thigh...well, I don't know how comfortable you are with that.

[He opens the jar which is full of green grass-smelling stuff, and the first aid kit from which he pulls out a bandage.]

You don't want me to lick it, right?

[Oh that might be a bit of a ... blush rising on her cheeks. Did he just seriously ask that??]

Lick my - I don't think that'd be comfortable for either of us. Not that I don't trust you but -

And wait, does your saliva heal wounds or something?

[He laughs and goes for the jar instead.]

I thought that might be your answer but, yes, my saliva can heal small wounds. Nothing like being impaled or anything.

Sorry, this'll be cold.

[And he smears the green plant stuff on the scratch, just enough to cover and go into it a bit.]

That'll stop any possible infection and make it heal faster, it should also help with any pain.

That's kind of handy, actually, save for when the wounds are in really aw - aw - AH! [Yeah, cold. Her leg automatically tenses at the contact.]

Th - Thanks, though. Really.

[He can't help the small giggle at her expense as he reaches for the bandage and covers the wound. Really, it was a cute reaction~]

[She's used to having guys flirt with her but that's the first time anyone's ever been that... forward, even if it was for something completely different.]

Will do. It's a nice patch job. I've gotten so used to curative magic, it's kind of weird having bandages.

I'm glad I can still remember how to do it, it's been so long since I've had to use the skill.

I imagine curing magic would be much simpler.

Did you have to use it a lot back home?

Mm, it is in some ways. I might be able to use it, but I don't trust my reign over my powers yet to do so. Knowing my luck, I'd just blow my leg off.

Mmm....not for many centuries and, even then, I was no field medic. I just knew what I had to to keep my soldiers alive should anything happen.

[He laughs.] Well, we definitely don't want that~ I imagine it would be fairly messy, and painful as well~

Soldiers? Were you in an army?

And then some. [She can't even imagine the amount of facepalming she would get from Squall.] Probably some ridicule, too.

Sort of. I was Knight Captain for my kingdom. That was back when I was human, though.

[He looks thoughtful for a moment, as if he's taking that seriously.] Mmm...yes, you might end up with a name like 'stumpy.'

[More military... she seems to attract the type.]

Knight Captain... too bad the armies back home don't have titles like that anymore. Sounds better than Admiral and General. [The latter title makes her scowl uncharacteristically.]

Eh? [Her jaw drops.] No one is or would call me stumpy! I mean... people aren't that mean, are they?

Do you not like the military, Rinoa~?

Aaah~ No, I doubt they would.

Yes and no? I've had some... serious ups and downs with people from the military.

Oh~? The military can be a difficult being to deal with at times. I hope it was never anything too bad.

[Rinoa will leave out the whole feud with her father, the army general. It's just too long a story to get into.]

Well, I was in a resistance faction back home and our main enemy was the Galbadian army, so there's that. But I also have friends who are combat specialists, or commonly known as mercenaries. And they have helped me when I needed it, so no, I guess nothing too bad.
