action for larmline apartments + video + lots of bombs
[ when you haven't seen someone for a while, it's only natural to check up on them— especially if they're your roommate. of course, he checks the sfc's contact list first and foremost, noticing that she had indeed left the place without creating a further hassle. it'd be a lie if he said he wasn't irritated, since she was both the most reliable and unreliable person he could count on here; they'd formed a good relationship of using one another, after all. thoughts and feelings aside, he's curious just how much of her had left vatheon— to be more specific, whether any of her personal items she'd had on her (bombs......) would've remained. he definitely isn't going to hesitate to gain any kind of feedback on vatheon; plus, well, bombs...
unfortunately, once he reaches her room he realizes that minene had locked her door— which meant that she likely had disappeared the night or so prior, and had been inside of the room at the time. this isn't really a problem for him, since he's a detective and has broken into places before— getting into minene's old room wouldn't be too difficult; it wasn't like the locks in vatheon were high-tech, either. after slipping his fingers into his jacket's pocket for a moment, he's equipped with what seems to be an id card of sorts. though vatheon's locks, as mentioned, weren't high-tech— he'll be sliding this card through the crack of the door, jamming it against the latch in a single, swift movement.
the door creaks open easily enough afterwards— although he doesn't enter immediately; instead opting to stand there looking somewhat spaced out for a few moments as though he had noticed something else more interesting. blinking— once, twice... a h.....
the lack of motion is soon replaced by rapid movement, and any residents situated within the larmline apartments will be greeted this morning by the loud, disruptive effect of an explosion on the fifth floor. it's a very impressive explosion, and cleanly destroys half of his own apartment—
which, unfortunately, was not surprising from one of minene's bombs...
WHAT A KAWAII MORNING. ]
[ —when the feed turns on, smoke and debris is very noticeable. if you live near larmline, you might've heard the loud sound just prior to the broadcast— or maybe even felt the area shaking a little, had you been that close. either way, something just blew up, and it happened just now.
he appears to be broadcasting from inside of an apartment— although a lot more natural sunlight than an open window should be projecting was evident in the feed. the dust that still hadn't settled reflected off the rays greatly, making for a visually poor feed— although some "accident" was apparent enough.
he's holding his own white sleeve closely against his face when he finally speaks, eyes slightly squinted because yes, debris and sunlight everywhere... ]
My er-.. [ how does he classify her even.. friend? nah, he doesn't want to be bundled in with her after this— ] acquaintance happened to affix quite a few locations in Vatheon with very destructive, technical bombs. She had an affinity for controlling them herself, but now that she's left.. [ -well... now she isn't controlling them. simple enough. ]
They're highly sensitive as of now and will activate immediately should you enter one's perimeter. I'd suggest fleeing the area as soon as possible should you hear some sort of distinct ticking noise... [ a cough— ugh, this is a mess... ]
That's all. [ click. ]
[ ooc: so yeah, there are bombs in certain areas of vatheon should you like to run into any of them on your own or attempt to dismantle one yourself—
bombtossing placed bombs in the following areas during her stay in vatheon:
- concealed on the hallway ceiling of floor #4 of the larmline apartments; far end of the hall.
- near the coral— won't damage vatheon at all though, since the coral is indestructible and reflects attacks. the blast might be a bit magnified due to that, however.
- cave complex near the former church site.
- some lamp post in the upper district of the city.
damages to vatheon won't be heavy at all should they be activated, and the npc brad will fix it all up within a day or so, anyway. ]

reaction;
[There are no words to describe the level of vitriol and hatred in her voice, after Tsubaki sees this broadcast. She has to resist the urge to throw her SFC clean across the room-- and in fact, the only reason she's even able to do so is because she doesn't want to become anything like that woman.
Instead, she composes herself as best she can before dashing out of her own apartment, up two floors to where she'd heard the explosion. It's easier with her new glasses--the ones Akise helped her pick out, in fact--though she's still not used to their weight on the bridge of her nose...]
action;
Akise.
[Serious tone is deadly serious, when she sees him. Though sadly, she is...just too much at a loss for words to say anything else right away.]
action;
he opens.. well, what's left of the door— although it completely falls off as soon as he does so.
oh.
hm... ]
action;
Yeah, she could've told you that was going to happen. But that's okay. The door's not really important; and the crashing sound it makes only holds her attention for a moment, before she turns back to him.]
...Are you hurt?
action;
Surely she would have placed more than one in this building, though-.. so I'm going to ask you not to leave for a while. [ a pause. ]
In fact... [ he'll just be stepping by tsubaki now, making his way into the hall. a line of doors for various rooms, all neat and in order— an elevator that both went up another floor and down quite a few. his brow knits, as he looks toward the ceiling.. ]
action;
[If that witch has placed other bombs in the building, wouldn't it make more sense for them to evacuate immediately? Those who have seen his broadcast have probably done so already. But before she has a chance to ask, he's stepping into the hall, and Tsubaki steps timidly behind him, waiting for him to continue.
She takes a glance down the hallway as described, eerily quiet.
Surely he doesn't think...?]
action;
Yukiteru-kun and Gasai-san live on the floor above... I don't think she would've avoided setting one for them on my recommendation alone. [ read: minene doesn't listen.
in any case, it'd be best to avoid that one going off... two explosions in the same building would cause some unfortunate circumstances. ]
.. I'll let them know. [ of course, he's flipping open his sfc even now. ]
action;
Of course. Them. She hadn't forgotten, though they aren't too high on her list of things she prefers to think about. Especially since they've been quiet here in the city, it's easy to not pay them any mind.
She simply watches him as he pulls out his SFC.]
A personal warning. More than they deserve, perhaps.
[Hmpth.]
action;
it's not like they could move to drastically when placed into the stalemate that was vatheon, however.
at tsubaki's comment, he'll only smile. it's no surprise she didn't get along with them— they were her enemies back home, and although she might be from a different timeline of some sort, it didn't change that fact. gasai-san had probably not been very hospitable to her during their interactions here, he's sure.
plus, yukiteru-kun... well, he was an aquired taste. ]
The likelihood is high. It'd be best to express caution where Gasai-san wouldn't. [ she would probably have no qualms about setting off the bomb so long as yukiteru-kun weren't to be caught in the crossfire.
once he's sent the message, he's deliberating on whether or not to check out the floor at a more personal level, but.. as mentioned before, he wasn't as knowledgeable as minene in explosive matters.
it was alright, though— he'd already ran into someone on the network who was, so he'd contact them and have it taken care of. ]
action;
One could argue that the attention is a bad thing in this case, but...still. It's clear she can be very calculating when she wants to be.
She has certainly seen the reckless side of her as well, though, so she agrees with the sentiment easily enough, however begrudgingly. She simply watches in silence as he fiddles with the SFC-- no more interesting with clearer vision, sadly-- and when he puts it away a few moments later, she questions quietly.]
Done?
action;
Quite. [ and just so tsubaki's aware where he's going with this— ] I'll contact someone else in order to take care of the actual explosive device.
[ he slips his device back into his pocket, placing his hand on the railing nearby. he'd already discerned the possibility of her placing a bomb upstairs— it was almost certain, in fact. but.. would she have set any downstairs? ...
would minene really set a bomb on each floor? it seemed like overkill to him, but she.. actually would be the sort to do that. he's silent for a moment as he thinks it over. ]
action;
In this case, she'll be grateful they have it.
She doesn't move right away. She merely looks about, trying not to appear as nervous as she is.]
Who did you have in mind?
video;
And then he starts to laugh. That was--Wow. There's more of them, too?! And they're scattered around the city? It must be his birthday or something because that is just too good to be true.]
Ah--! Splendid! I wasn't certain if the city could withstand such a blast!
video;
—except it falls off as soon as he does so. ah. alright, distracting himself with the feed for a moment which is presumably filled with questions about minene's bombs that he cannot answer because he is not minene. it's nice to start off with something a little unpredictable, though. ]
Ah-.. well, I'm fairly certain it depends on what you're blasting. You'll have more trouble with the barrier, for instance.. she already tried that. [ that last part added under his breath with a hint of irritation. ]
[text]
Do you have any information on the locations? Or what kinds of bombs they are? What are the detonation mechanisms?
[text]
The woman whom they belonged to was a terrorist back in my world, so it's likely she made them herself. I have very little information on her methods, save for the fact that she almost always kept them concealed unless she was using grenades. She kept an electric control panel on her person. It was always concealed as well, unless she was actually using it. I have no information on the locations, but it would be unsurprising if she had set more than one in this building.
Oh, one more thing-- in extreme cases, she often relied on a bomb that would activate if her heart were to stop. Perhaps it's something similar that activates the bombs she's set. It seems likely, given the location of this one... and the fact that she's no longer here.
[ SORRY, NO WITCH HUNTS, VATHEON. ]
[text]
Could you tell me about her personality? What kind of places did she favor?
It's much to rely on luck to hope that no one will be injured. It would be safer if these bombs can be located and disposed of safely.
[text]
She was a professional.
[ ergo, if she wanted something to go boom, it usually did. ]
Heavily against religious factions-- although the church here was apparently destroyed prior to her arrival, so it's likely she would target something else. |
[ there's a momentary pause before he even finishes the message. ]
The locals worship the coral, don't they?

Time to go find one. Adventure~~~~~~/o/]
action;
For someone looking for a bomb he wasn't really careful. Probably thanks to knowing he'll have warning enough to get out of the blast zone.]
action;
It was only a matter of time before he ran into a familiar face--or helmet in the boy's case. He still wanted to know what was under it, but he was patient and this hidden bomb took higher priority on his schedule right now. If that first explosion was anything to go by, then the others must be just as good, if not better. He didn't see the first one in person, after all; he just heard it. It didn't keep him from stopping to doff his hat with a smile and give that swirling portal a curious glance, though.]
Well, hello again.
action;
Portal will stay open. If anyone was dumb enough to step through something dangerous, then they deserve the possible darkness infection.
There was a look towards the guy. Funny since it was the same place as last time.]
Did the little show bring you out? [If not, maybe he can see if he can trick this guy in to finding the bomb. BOOM BABY ;D
However Vanitas figured this guy wasn't normal from the lack of questions on top of how easy their previous conversation went.]
action;
sort of.
he really just sets them up by clapping.]
I was fortunate enough to hear the sounds but I missed the fireworks themselves.
[But that portal sure is intriguing! He's not stepping into it, instead choosing to walk circles around it once or twice before he makes a thoughtful 'hmm'.] Can the same be said for you?
action;
Got to see the smoke. Pity. Always wanted to see some fireworks.
[Having fun? Wonder what it would do to someone from another world. They can always just push in a local just to test if it'll change them, kill them, or leave them unharmed. Or they could acquire a willing subject? For now he'll address the next part.] Something like that.
action;
That can easily be arranged if you wish to see them. I'm not sure how these manufactured ones are but they must be something else if they could produce such a lovely sound. We only need to find one--alternatively, I could always show you my brand. Which reminds me, I never properly introduced myself when we first met, did I?
action;
Your brand, huh? Maybe after we finish this scavenger hunt. [How do you keep a bomb intact? He could freeze it, but that could ruin the thing entirely.]
action;
[He'll just start poking around along the walls of some of the shops in the plaza. Hmmmmmm hmm, if he were a bomb rigged to blow, where would he be? It couldn't be anywhere obvious of course--anyone could figure that out unless it was a blatant threat...]
action;
[Summoning his Void Gear to lightly nudge the flowers away to see if there was some device there. No ticking yet.
Did either of them even know what a bomb looks like??? Definitely going to rely on sound for this.]
...remember your introduction to the coral?
action;
[A key.
A giant key.
Vanitas what the hell. Are you trying to bust Kimblee's brain because it is working.]
...What on earth is that?
action;
Busting brains physically or just in the wow factor was always entertaining.]
A keyblade. What does it look like? [Gosh. Check your eyes old man.] There is a group of losers here who also can use them.
action;
[...Weird little kid. He'll just tilt kneel down to peek under a table outside of a little cafe. Nnnnothing here.] I've never heard the name until now, too. Are they all like that?
Re: action;
Vanitas will wait until the guy wasn't kneeling any more before having his keyblade vanish.
Miiiiiiiight be intentionally trying to see his reaction. He'll look around the bench now and along the ridges of coral separating the sidewalk.] You'll find mine is one of a kind.
action;
seriously kid what even you are even weirder than he is.]
...You and I are going to have a little chat about this later.
action;
Looking forward to it. [So long as he does get a show of explosions.
Forest visit for explosions later?
They could also use Mustang's backyard.]action;
[Those poor trees won't even know what hit them.]
How is it looking over there?
action; watch as I make up stuff while tiiiired
Ash.]
Nothing still. [It was tempting to just blast the area until-
Wait. Hang on.] Think I found something. [It was close to "Lamufao" and a flowerbed. Tucked away so it was barely seen. He had look the plaza over in the past and knows this wasn't there.] Want the honors?
action; /smooshes
That certainly snagged his attention fast.] It'll have to be quick. I don't know how long it takes for it to detonate and I'd very much prefer to keep myself intact.
action; /purrs
Too much of a bother to figure it out. [He's just going to use dark blizzaga on it and freeze the sucker. Have some more surprises Kimblee.]
action;<3
Wait.
Wait. Kid what are you--...No kid you are not McDougal what are you doing.]
Did you just--? That wasn't... [That was NOT alchemy.]
action;<3 <3 <3
[This has got to be a new record. After making sure bomb was fully frozen, he proceeded to
surround himself with a dark aura. He created a Scrapped Unversed from the darkness. Handing frozen bomb carefully to his critter.]
action;
...what the hell. He's just going to pinch the bridge of his nose and breathe. This was almost too much. It was fascinating, but god it was making his head actually hurt.]
What are you?
video;
Good luck with that, kid. You had quite an acquaintance there.
video;
She was certainly something. [ .. seeing kyouko actually makes him think of something. ] Do you still him? [ —the question is somewhat rushed, as if he'd just gotten an idea. thus, why he didn't clarify.. although it should be obvious enough to what he's referring. ]
video;
Sure sounds like it. [And now, she's raising an eyebrow.] What d'ya mean?
[Is she playing dumb or does she seriously not know what he's talking about?]
video;
If I'm not mistaken, retrievers have a high sense for this sort of thing. You did mention that he was able to find you "miles away", did you not?
[ not directly answering her question, but it should be obvious by now both what he's referring to and what his general line of thought here is. ]
video;
What does the dog have anything to do with what we're talking about?
[LEAVE HER ALONE. SERIOUSLY.
...Wait a minute--]
