[Yeah, it's dark and late. So what? Otoha is standing on top of a roof, letting the camera pan around to take in the city.]
[He doesn't turn the camera towards himself, just faces it towards the coral, glowing softly, before he speaks.]
People can get brought back here. Death doesn't really mean anything, then.
Even at home, though… death wasn't really something that people like me were supposed to fear. Killing didn't really mean anything but the removal of a problem.
[He's quiet for a moment.]
Why do people get so upset about killing or murder? I've never understood it.
[There's another pause, like he's going to say something else, before he shuts off the feed.]

[He finally turns the feed to face him. He doesn't look that concerned.]
It's really a good way to fix problems sometimes, depending on who's in the way.

Aaah~ Otoha~ You're going to upset some people~~
no subject
Yeah? I don't care. Let them be upset.
no subject
Mmm...you're so charismatic, my friend.
For the record, I imagine people find it upsetting because most people put a high value on life.
no subject
I guess. Most people are raised with that kind of viewpoint, right?

Everyone has potential, even if they haven't done anything significant for you yet. Death, generally, cuts off that potential. And here...it's still disturbing, and it usually still hurts.
no subject
[He doesn't... quite get it still.]

That's what I mean.

[Reiji was the last person... and even then it wasn't what most people seem to mean when they say 'loved one'.]

There is also the fact that, depending on who you are attacking, you may end up not the killer but the killed. That worries those close to you. Death may not be like we know it here, but it does cause pain, and most individuals become upset when their loved ones are hurt in any way.
no subject
[Hmm...]
True, I guess. There are people who don't really have loved ones, though.
[Then again Johnny would probably be pretty upset if he died... hm.]
I wouldn't be happy if any of my friends would have to go through that. I wouldn't be able to see them for a few days and they would go through pain for a bit. We also don't know if we will always come back from death. What if the Lamofao or Lamu-whatever decides not to bring someone back?
no subject
[The pain thing again. At least he doesn't have that to worry about.]
If it doesn't bring them back, though, then they're dead. I don't really get what the big deal is. People die all the time, close to you or not.
no subject
It's part of showing them that you enjoyed time with them and even if they aren't there any more, you still have the memories spent together. It's like missing something vital. A piece going away forever.

If it were you dying, it would mean something, wouldn't it?
no subject
Not really. I've died twice. I think. I'm not sure if I actually died.
no subject
But I don't think it means nothing, even if you keep going afterward. Doesn't it still mean you were willing to take the risk?

Killing and murder creates an unexpected loss of those one cares about. When a person is appreciated for more than their role as a fighter, they can become impossible to replace.
no subject
If it causes that much pain, though, maybe it was a mistake to get attached to begin with.
