[He brings his hand back and straightens himself up.]

[Rin gives an awkward grin at that, rubbing the back of his neck.]

Got myself in a world of trouble for it, but... I'm used to that by now. I'm just glad I was able to help him.

[He'd rather not get in to what happened AFTER though.]

[Over-protective BFF here may be scrutinizing you just a tad.

You know. Just a tad.]

Well. You kept Vanitas off the streets for a while, at least.

[He already knows some of the details of what happened after, but thankfully Axel won't press.]

At any rate. [he adds with a wave of his hand.] I think I'd like to see exactly what kind of skills you have that caused that.

[If Rin notices he's being scrutinized, he doesn't say anything or show it. He does shrug to the comment.]

Most I could do, in a place like this.

[At the comment about his skills, Rin takes the case off his back and undoes the closures, revealing a katana in a blue sheath.]

Alright. I hope you're not expectin' me to go easy on ya.

[He only smirks at the first comment and when Rin takes out his katana he even grins a little wider.]

Of course not.

Mm, I never mentioned my name, now did I? The name's Axel. [And with that Axel quickly thrusts his arms out to the side and in a combustion of orange and yellow sparks and flames his chakrams materialize between his fingers. They spin and heat up as white hot metal, sending ashes and flickers of fire across the sand, but when he so much as lays a finger on them they hiss and revert to their usual silver and red hues.]

Got it memorized?

Another fire user? Okay, Rin is suddenly feeling a lot more confident about this. Not that he thinks he's got any sort of edge on Axel, just that he's not nearly as worried about accidental injuries now.

His normally dopey grin turns a bit wicked as he grabs the hilt of the sword in one hand, case in the other and pulls. Blue flames erupt around him, two on his head looking a bit like horns and the black tuft of his tail also lighting with the flame. His ears also get longer, sharp canines more prominent

He points the flaming blade at Axel, eager to start the match.]

Alright, Axel! Gimmie your best shot!

[~~Then allow me to burn it into your skin, yo.~~

Oh-hoh. Another fire user here. Axel too feels a bit of confidence spark in his body just because he know that he at least won't be hurt by the flames. By the sword, possibly, if he doesn't pay close enough attention to dodge, but he isn't too worried.

So with a little twirl of his chakrams he obliges without delay, leaping back a step to set both weapons ablaze and launch them head-on through the air towards his opponent.]

Take this!

Rin watched his movements closely, knowing that he can't let his guard down even if it's just a simple spar. Still, he'll admit to being impressed - they're unusual weapons but Axel sure as hell knows what he's doing.

He waits for the blazing weapons to get near him before jumping to the side to dodge one, and simply knocking the other one away with his blade. He charges forward after that, jumping in to the air with every intent of bringing his sword down on Axel.]

[When his chakrams are knocked out of the way, Axel scoffs in amusement. But that doesn't discourage him and soon he's ready to dodge Rin's attack as well, darting off to the side with well calculated speed.

Body low to the ground, he rockets on by and summons his chakrams back to his hands at the same time. They appear once again in an explosion of sparks before he gives them a twirl and runs towards Rin. Axel slashes down at an arc then with one weapon, hoping to get the guy from a high enough angle.]

[Rin lands hard, feet and sword kicking up sand as Axel darts by him. He turns, still crouched low from his landing just as Axel comes back swinging.

He throws the sword up above his head to catch the chakram before it comes down on his head. He pushes back, letting off an un-aimed burst of blue flames right at Axel.]

[Axel pushes back against the sword that's deflected his chakram but he doesn't stick around for very long. That burst of blue flame coming straight for him sends him jumping back and with a smirk on his face he lets it strike him straight in the chest.

... Oh, dear. Doesn't look like its done much of anything.

A chuckle leaves him then as he gives his weapons a twirl.]

Hm. Tingly.

[Did you really just say 'tingly', Axel? Geez. He'd almost be insulted, if he hadn't half expected they would do nothing anyway. His flames are stronger than most fire users but that also comes with the issue that most fire users are just as immune to them as they are their own power.

He straightens once Axel is back, lifting the sword and motioning with his other hand for the other to come at him again.]

C'mon on then! Don't stop now, there's plenty more where that came from!

[Come on, man. Don't be dissin' his language.

Axel smirks wider at that gesture.]

Oookay. If you say so.

[And with that he leaps upward, disappearing into a Portal of Darkness before he reappears behind Rin. Quickly he slashes down again, only this time both chakrams are lit. Believe it or not, but he's actually having fun.]

[~~But now all I can hear is Flynn Scifo from Vesperia saying that and it slays me xD~~

Holyshit so not expecting that! Luckily Rin's had experience with the portals before thanks to Vanitas, so he knows as soon as he sees it he needs to get the hell somewhere else.

"Somewhere else" doesn't quite happen fast enough, though, so instead he's forced to have the flaming chakrams come very close to his nose as he just barely manages to limbo-lean back away from them.

This gives way to him flipping back on to his hands, swinging both legs up in an attempt to kick Axel right in the face.

Flaming feet anyone?]

Axel has to give the guy credit for being able to dodge that attack, and when his chakram fails to connect directly he chuckles in spite of himself.

Ok, but, seriously, those flaming feet aren't anything to be laughing about, Axel.

He brings one chakram up to block the kick before he too flips back, kicking up sand as he does.]

Man, oh, man. Right for the face, huh?

[And with that he leaps up into the air, chakrams raised and set ablaze, to toss them straight towards the ground and create tall pillars of fire which should hopefully follow Rin around for a short amount of time. Run!]

Rin takes the block as leverage to flip backwards and land in a crouch, snerking up at Axel at his comment.]

What's a matter? Too pretty for a little fire to the face?

[Not the best taunt, but Rin really isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Smart enough, though, to see the pillars coming and immediately roll to the side. As soon as he realizes they're following him though, he quickly turns and lashes out with his sword, sending a huge wave of his own blue flames at them in hopes of stopping them short.]

[~~His VA's name is Quinton Flynn, but actually he doesn't voice Flynn. That's an interesting thought, though. XD~~

Axel keeps a close watch on the fire and makes sure that it stays hot and alive for as long as he can keep it but when Rin shoots that wave of blue fire towards his own the pillars are split in half and eventually burn out.

His chakrams fly back to his hands afterward.]

I think we just might go all day with this if we really wanted to.

[With that he leaps back and then starts to toss his weapons quickly at Rin, juggling them forward and back in hopes that they'll connect.]

Rin was about to agree, before those chakrams started flying again, zipping around him almost too fast to properly keep track of.

Well, that could get uncomfortable real fast.

He tries to swing at them and knock them off course, but it's not going as well as he would have hoped for.]

[Axel sees that he's got a bit of an advantage here so he keeps going, tossing his chakrams and catching them only to throw them again over and over.]

Come on, you said that you wouldn't go easy on me!

[Yeah, he did say that, didn't he? Damn projectiles are always an issue when he's such a close-ranged fighter though.]

... alright. Just remember that you asked for this!

[Rather than using his sword this time, he stops moving and pulls in a deep breath, trying to focus as much of his power as he can in the short time he has before the chakrams reach him.

He throws his arm out in an arc-like slashing movement, and with it a near-wall of blue flames erupts and goes rushing at Axel.]

[And here Axel is more comfortable dealing damage from afar. How interesting.

He keeps on tossing his weapons rapidly and keeps them brightly lit, but when he sees that slash and that wall of blue fire coming towards him he stops to catch both weapons and quickly position them in front of his body to act like a shield.

He's still pushed back, however, by a few feet or more on the sand, and if the flames die down Rin should see that Axel's much further away and with nearly half of his boots covered in sand.]

Hah! That's more like it. [he calls out.]

[He hasn't been able to do that move since the crap with Amaimon, and he was half out of control then, so the fact that he pulled it off and actually managed to do something... pretty damn impressive with it gets a short mental cheer from him.

But he keeps his head in the game for the fight, using the pause to charge forward and attempt to slash his sword at Axel.]

[Axel quickly leaps upward to get himself unstuck and after disappearing in a blur of black he reappears beside Rin to slash his chakram out and try to get him in the side.]

[Damn, Axel is fast. And Rin is just barely not fast enough. He sees the blur and attempts to get out of the way, but he's just a beat too late and his shirt and side get caught by the sharp blades.

He stumbles away with a hiss of pain, blood quickly staining his shirt.]
