Evening, everyone. If I may have a moment of your time I'd like to ask you two questions.

First of all, how many people here are familiar with the concept of alchemy? It's a fairly common thing in my world and it honestly surprised me when I discovered that some people have either never heard of such a thing or it simply doesn't exist any longer in their world. Whether it involve turning metal into gold or even tales fabled Philosopher's Stone, I'd very much like to hear about what you know and perhaps we'll even learn something new.

Second, I recently discovered that a former colleague of mine was in the city at one point; did anyone know a man named Alex Louis Armstrong? I haven't seen him in a few years so I'm curious as to how he was. He's an alchemist like myself so he may have even introduced himself with the title of 'Strong Arm.'

Alchemy? Goodness, I haven't heard that term for a long time. We had a pair of brothers here awhile back who performed magic and called it alchemy.

They drew runes on the fountain and created impromptu water guns to shoot people with.

[They were young enough that it had just been cute to her, but honestly.]

The manipulation of matter is magic. There's no harm in calling it by that term. If you are an alchemist, then by my standards, you are a mage. And to you...

[Zelda holds out a hand, palm up, summoning forth a flower that she holds out to the camera.]

I am an alchemist.

[She's chosen to wear the costume this time, not wanting to reveal anything to this man.]

Alchemy? It sounds like a myth.

Yes, perhaps...this would be better discussed in person.

[What's that in the background? It looks like a lab of sorts]

As I mentioned, I'm familiar with the concept and Nicolas Flamel, whom supposely was successful in creating the Philospher's Stone.

A king I knew created an Alchemy Pot for me and my traveling companions to use during our journey, so I'm a bit familiar with the concept.

You put two ingredients into the pot and out comes a stronger or better item depending upon what two items you mixed together. You can also recreate the item you lost in the pot by mixing items, it's quite a handy pot.

The feelings. In their Unversed form. It'll just make him stronger.]

You haven't. [And he missed any conversation Kimblee might have had with someone else about it on the network.

He'll be quiet for a moment as he portals in to the kitchen.

He'll snag a box of cookies and replace it with the Yo-yo. Equivalent exchange, right?]

I'm getting the impression that what you refer to as "alchemy" and what the word meant in the history of my world are not the same thing. But to answer your question, no. Alchemy was the precursor to science, but most of its operating principles were based on outdated speculation, and it was entirely discarded when practitioners realized nothing about it worked. In my time, that would have been something like a thousand years into the past.

But it would appear that your universe had more success, I take it?

[Was that really so surprising? Huh.]

It was fairly short-lived. Basically, the idea that matter could be converted into other forms of matter on the basis that they all consisted of various combinations of four primal elements. That theory actually goes even centuries further back into antiquity.
