[Rin looks surprisingly distant and thoughtful today. He's lacking his two usual modes - growling and pissed off or cheerful and derpy. He's just sort of... there.

As much as he wanted to believe it wasn't going to bother him, what Maka revealed is getting to him. And it's not even necessarily the relation to the other two that's bothering him. It's more the other questions he has on his mind.

But for the public post, he has a purpose aside from that.

Hey uh... if anyone wants any free lunches already made and you don't wanna bother with the lines at the restaurants today, I grabbed a buncha leftovers from the ball we had frozen and made some. I got way more than even everyone in the Villa is gonna eat, so I figured I'd just give 'em away.

[He holds one up. It's got a rather interesting assortment, not strictly Japanese since there was a pretty good assortment of cultures represented in the food at the masquerade. But whatever, they still look damn good. And Rin has enough bento boxes behind him on the counter to feed about twenty people. How the hell does he do that?

And he's harassin' you or whatever, just send him my away, okay? I'll deal with him.

[He pauses, then continues with with quite a bit of reluctance in his voice, with a tone of some one who is struggling to accept something but knows that he has to sooner or later.]

Just... just tell 'im "little brother" is lookin' for him.

[He goes to turn off the SFC, but stops and frowns, switching the filter one last time.]

[Well she was just wondering why he was still so nice to her even when she made him mad, but obviously this goes deeper than that.

She smiles.] C'mon, Rin! You can't lie to me! I have a very, very special way of knowing when someone is lying!

[She got something off Mephisto. He can actually respect that.

... but no, really. He wasn't doing so great at the dance when the subject of Yukio came up, too, and it's pretty clear he's lying and trying to hide how he really feels lately.]

[Unfortunately he doesn't exactly believe her right now, either.]

Compared to the general majority of my race, I'm gifted with many great abilities that have helped me climb to the top of the food chain with little to no consequences! [yeah fucking right.]

I told you before about how I had to fed my mom constantly, yeah? It got to be such a hassle over time especially when she got so big... but I lucked out big time!

Sometimes when I felt bored with just leading others into their inevitable and painful death I'd play games with them! Go into their heads and mess around with their minds until they couldn't tell what was their own thoughts from what I put there! Of course in the end their deaths were justified because someone had to feed mom. [From her tone it's obvious she sees nothing wrong with this. Survival of the fittest and all. It was her or them.]

So there's no point in trying to lie to me, Rin! I really don't care if you don't want to tell me, but trying to give me some shitty lie is really pointless.

[Rin listens, only half paying attention at first. But the longer her story goes on the more... well, disturbed he looks.

He tries to hide it, but it's working about as well as his lies earlier. He swallows hard and shakes his head in disbelief.]

N-no way. You're bluffin'... there's no way you can do that...

[She just watches him as he progressively looks more horrified. There's no sense in letting him get comfortable around her without knowing , right? At least John didn't seem completely disgusted with her after she told him her story.]

There are a few trolls from my world that can personally attest to this! Would you like me to get a sworn statement from one of them for you? [She hums quietly.] You know, I'm telling you this because I thought you should know. If I really didn't like you I wouldn't have said anything and... well I'm sure you could guess how that would go.

[He's been getting freaked out a lot lately, so forgive him if it takes an extra minute or two to get composure back.]

[He's quiet for a bit, rubbing his upper arm some and looking away. She told him that because he showed off his flames, right? And really who is he to judge? He technically hunts his own kind, too, for completely different reasons.]

... it's... stupid, okay? Better not to worry 'bout it...

Hmmmmmmm, it's okay to be scared! You're still a human, even if you can light yourself on fire. [A sigh.] I honestly don't expect you to accept it, but I didn't want you to start thinking I was actually a good person. [Just because she can talk about her past deeds doesn't mean she's completely proud of them.

But that's something she'll keep to herself.]

[He speaks from experience on that at least.]

... [Rin stares for a second, before breaking in to a rather odd grin.]

[It happened twice that night, once with her and once with Maka. All the things Rin didn't want to hear or didn't want to talk about.

But he looked at where it was getting him and the answer was "nowhere".]
