[The video comes on in a jolt of motion, which stills to a skewed image of pavement, buildings, and a soaking wet teenage boy clad in red and black lying on the ground. He winces as though he'd just hit the ground. Hard.]

Oww...

[Pushing himself up off the ground, he rubs his head.]

Is everyone all...

[Wait. Something's wrong. He looks around the plaza with clearly growing alarm, but still not at the SFC.]

Guys? Where is everyone?

[And where in the world is he?!]

I don't remember how exactly I got here. I was aboard the airship...Um, wait. You mean you do remember?

Yeah. My friends and I went through the Otherworldly Gate. We were ambushed and it was the only way to escape. It was supposed to take us to Sylvarant, but...

[He shrugs.]

I don't really know how it works. I guess it messed up when I jumped in. Next thing I knew, I was here.

I've heard that the large coral in the middle of the plaza is what brought us here.

Coral can do that?

This coral is very special. I've heard that it has many powers and the locals worship it like a deity.

Another thing is... that we have to touch it once per month to power it up. If we don't... we will fall into a coma...

A coma? You're serious? Wait, what if something happens and you can't touch it before you fall into a coma? Could you still wake up if someone got you to it?

Duke absently studies the boy on the ground for a moment - then fetches a towel. If Lloyd isn't up by the time Duke returns, he's getting a towel dropped on his face. ]

Oh, so someone drew it on you with a marker. Got it!

[Not that he understands why that would entitle you to free food and clothes, but maybe at this point it'd just be easier to go with it. If Equius is wrong, then Lloyd will just have to get a job for that, too, which was what he was expecting in the first place.]

[He can't tell. He's pretty much clothed head to toe, and he's not about to look for a mark that might be on his body who-knows-where right here and now. Maybe when he finds a bathroom.]

[Flump! Lloyd hadn't been quite fast enough picking himself up off the ground. Towel in the face!]

What continent of Terca Lumireis is that on? [ Not. being serious, really. He knows there's no Sylvarant on Terca Lumireis. ]

[Ugh, he's not quite as bad at geography as he is at, say, math or history, but when it comes to names of obscure places, he's sunk. He doesn't think he's even heard of Terca... Lumis... whatever that place was before.]

No, I've seen these things before, more times than I want to count. They might look small and harmless, but they can be a real pain in the neck.

[And man, he sure hopes they're thick enough to protect him from this thing's spines. So far so good, though. Maybe it's asleep?]
