When he's like this he seems human, doesn't he? At first he stiffens at the initial contact but the alchemist is quick to relax, even going as far as to bend his arm to ruffle some hair. He's not sure why he's so comfortable around Vanitas--maybe it's just because they were stuck like this, or maybe it was because he was the first one to initiate contact this time. The first one to relax.

Maybe he was going soft--at least a little around the edges.
