[ Perhaps its even more of a hint as to how he's feeling that the anonymous for his texting isn't working that well. Perhaps even more so than his question. ]

What are someways one can... attempt to better their own mood?

[ He remembered to not type like he talks, at least.

He's running out of ideas to try. And doesn't.. really have anyone he feels like he can ask in person right now... ]

How long have you been feeling like this?

.... Curse of faeries and nightmares.

[She looks worriedtly at him.]

Is it still haunting you? [It seems the curse ended a while ago.] The fairies are gone, Duke.

... Was not the faeries but the shape they took and the words they repeated and...

[ It was rapid words for a moment and then he twitches and curls a little more in on him self. Yes, it is bothering him still. ]

[She ponders what she can tell Duke.]

[ Maybe he should have come. The hand holding onto the cup of tea starts shaking a little too much for holding it to be the best idea so he puts it down. ]

Own thoughts, repeated in other's voices and hurt more..

[An sighs and gently holds onto Duke's trembling hand. This is more complicated than she thought.]

Duke dear, I know this is hard for you, but you must learn to slowly let go off the past. Not completely, of course, but just enough so you do not have to live in so much pain in the present.

... How. [ The look he's directing her way - he really doesn't get it. ]

Is about own actions and methods and abilities and do not understand how letting it go would...

[Yes, it is indeed something complicated...]

I do not know your case, Duke. But it might that you regret something you did?

We cannot always know everything, Duke. We all make mistakes. Unfortunately does mistakes sometimes hurt other people, but... We must do as best as we can to make up for them. It is all we can do.

Still... Should have known. Or should have been me.

[ Perhaps that was a great big part of it; a form of survivor's guilt. ]

He wouldn't have tried the things I did.

[ Duke you don't know that but he's clearly very certain that he's something of a terrible person. ]

It is not easy to deal with it. I know myself something about it. My sister and her husband perished in a fire, years ago. They, who were happy with their child. My husband and my unborn child had died previously in an accident. Long I have wondered why God took them and spared me. I do not yet know, but for now, what I can do is taking care of my nephew.

[She keeps rubbing the back of Duke's hand, trying to soothe him.] Maybe your god has yet some purpose for you.

... I do not know if I would want to have a purpose from some god who would allow such things; or one who would allow me to attempt to commit extinction of humanity.

[ There's his big huge guilt problem from the past. ]

Would have been better than my friend had lived rather than I. He would not have come to such a thing as a conclusion...

[ And Duke had tried to because he was trying to keep a promise to said friend, even. Protecting the world, when humans damaged and threatened it constantly? Easy to forget the "peace for all living things" half of the promise, after humans killed his friend... ]

[Ohh... This is a tough one. She doubts she can say much to soothe him. But he doesn't seem to be an evil person. At least not now.]

Ohh... I see... Clearly you regret that... You have changed. And tough you may not erase what happened, you can learn from it, I suppose. I do not believe you are a bad person, Duke. Whatever happened in the past.

[ He's startled enough to actually look at her - as though Zelda being okay with that segment of his past had not made him think that others would (although this may be because Zelos had heard the basics and told him to scram). ]

... But does not change that am useless.

[She is not exempt of killing herself. If she had had her way, she would have erradicated all the prostitutes who had ever come to ask her to have abortions performed. But clearly he doesn't need to know that.]

I am sure you are not useless. For one thing I think you care much for the friends you made in this world. And well, being useless is easily mended. You can try to make yourself useful by learning something or working at some place.

[ He killed a bunch of people when he stole the sword he uses, so its a little more than just.. trying to off the human race. He only feels bad that the route he took had that many people on it, though. ]

... I cannot.. protect anyone. I have enough strength and ability to create a formula to remove humanity from a planet but I cannot keep a friend safe. I think that is useless...

Would it not do for you to learn a way to protect them? Either with your magic or by making yourself stronger?

[ Duke studies her for a moment. ]

Can already reach speeds faster than eye can follow. Call meteors and make rain turn to light. How much 'stronger' must I be?

[Duke? Are you serious? She is surprised.]

Duke... I... Wow... I do not understand why you say you are useless...

I cannot protect those close to me. What point is there in being that strong if you cannot prevent someone from dying when you stand right next to them.

[She sighs and looks sad for a moment.]

Can you really not use your powers to protect them?

It doesn't work... I try and it doesn't work... [ He's good at blowing things up, but that only works in some situations and ...

Duke shudders and curls up. He's useless, see? ]
