It seems as if the arrival cycle is over now. Allow me to extend a belated welcome to everyone who was pulled into Vatheon this past cycle. My name is Zelda, and I work with the Welcoming Committee here. Please drop by if you have any questions about our current situation as foreigners in the city. I would also like to encourage new arrivals that are capable of fighting to look into joining the Defense Force. While things are generally peaceful here, there are some dangerous situations from time to time. I don't get many peeps watching me do this shit, but fuck, if it be gettin' your glad on to, what sort of motherfucker would I all be to say no? No kinda of motherfucker what I would like to be that's for sure!

You could try starting with some basic apple pie recipes from the library as a base. Once you get used to the general ingredients and how they taste, it will be easier to figure out what your mother used in her pie.

[Gamzee's existence is a happy one. Truly, ignorance is bliss.]

[She sounds a little too cheerful as she starts to organize the scattered papers, first separating them by category (and doing a little rough alphabetizing when she can).]

Hm...I could do that but...

you mean right now? What about the cookies? [And she looks back at the other stuff]

Or...do we even have enough ingredients for it?

Not right now, silly! The cookies will be done any moment.

[And there's the timer! Zelda puts on oven mits and takes them out.]

One thing many people forget is to put their cookies on a cooling rack. The tray is hot, so if you do not remove them quickly the bottom of the cookie may burn.

[Spatula in hand, the princess sets out to save the cookies from that grisly fate.]

Annnddd there it is! It's done!

[But the fact that Zelda called her silly makes her smile a bit. It looks like she was starting to relax a bit and was having fun!]

Oooohhh, that's probably why my cookies are always burnt! [giggle] I always tried to make it by the book but something just turns out wrong! So thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to pay attention the next time around!

I'm sure you'll do splendidly. Now then, what did you bring to decorate them with? We can take a look while they cool.

[She's not entirely sure what they have to work with other than "frosting" and "lots of sprinkles", but it should be sufficient.]

Um, let's see... [She began looking around the kitchen for some of the brings she brought]

I wasn't sure what kind of frosting goes well with gingerbread cookies so I bought 3 different kinds! There's cream cheese, chocolate frosting, and buttercream!

...I just realized. There's a lot of different kinds of frosting isn't there? Haha, I thought baking was hard enough but now we need to get the right kind of frosting too to match!

Baking is difficult!

[Oh... Zelda actually didn't think of that either!]

I think that buttercream or cream cheese would be the best. Chocolate has a somewhat overpowering taste. We should be able to get the smoothest appearance with buttercream, so let's use that.

[Process of elimination makes it simple! Zelda looks far too serious while she's talking it out with herself, though. Anyone watching them would probably get a laugh.]

[Uh...Zelda, you're taking this frosting thing a bit too seriously...]

Um...okay then? [blink blink.] Would it taste better if we use that instead of chocolate or cream cheese?

I believe so. We can try a couple with cream cheese as well. We can do a taste test on one now before they cool? It won't hurt anything, it's just difficult to get a proper spread while the cookies are still warm.

[As far as taste goes though, she prefers them fresh out of the oven.]

It's no kind a intrusion. Psiioniic wwill just make tea an float around, it's his wway. An by comin ovver you'll get to knoww him better.

I wwouldn't be surprised if you like him wwell.

[He's talking about Psiioniic like he's a pet of some sort... of course, she does the same with Duke, so she can't judge him too harshly.]

If you are quite certain, then that would be lovely. I will find a good tea blend and bring it over sometime!

We can! Since it's still hot, we can quickly have the frosting melt and it might taste nicer! Using one cookie for a frosting would never hurt anyone!

[Now she really wants to eat one! So don't mind Bianca quickly using one of the knives to spread it around a bit!]

[If she thinks this is condescending, she should have seen him talk about Psiioniic a few months ago. He does rather think of him as a pet or fixture to a certain extent, still, but he makes a special effort not to be cruel about it.]

I'm absolutely sure, trust me.
A neww tea blend wwill probably make his wwhole fuckin night.

Well, we will need at least two to test it properly.

[Zelda looks amused as she gets two cookies so they can put the buttercream on one and the cream cheese on the other, breaking both neatly in half for a proper taste test.]

Hmm... I do think I prefer the buttercream.

I will keep that in mind! I'll have to find something special, then. He likes bees as well, doesn't he? I'll pick something that goes well with honey.

[Everybody should live like him except then everybody would probably die from not getting food for the fridge.

Gamzee gives the recipe a quick once over, before he sets to work.]

Aight first what we all gotta be fuckin' doing at here, is get all this shit nice and fuckin' tight in a bowl.

[He starts dumping in the ingredients, taking a very loose-fingered approach to it all. He certainly, more or less, sticks to the right proportions but he does a lot of eyeballing too.]

[As Bianca started munching on the both of them, she didn't really care whichever one was better. She was just happy that the cookies weren't burnt!]

I'm good with which ever one you want! I think they both taste really good, I'm just happy they turned out just fine!

[Good thing she's not really picky about food. ...Maybe except any foods that are too spicy. Her poor tongue!]

[But he's just dumping, he's not sifting or measuring or anything! This is how Zelos does it too though. He always goes on about how she needs to put her heart into baking instead of measuring every little thing, but...

The princess continues to watch Gamzee as she organizes his recipes, trying not to cringe at the approximations.]

[The tea kettle whistles then, so Zelda moves to take it off the burner and pour them both a cup.]

Here you are. By the time we finish off a cup of this, I think they should be cool enough to frost and decorate properly.

[She takes a sip, letting out a satisfied sigh. Chai was a good choice, it really did go with the ginger.]

That's a fuckin great idea.

[As she stares at the cup and lets out a sniff from it, she wasn't sure what to think. It was hot and she knew better than to drink something that could have the potential to burn off your tongue!]

So...what kind of tea is this again? It seems really weird but I don't think I ever smelled anything like this before.

It smells like something my mom would make sometimes back home...but nothing like this!

[She's only use to the really basic stuff!]

It's a blend called Chai. It has ginger and cinnamon mixed in, so I thought it would pair will with the gingerbread cookies. If it's too spicy, you can add a little more milk.

[In this case, Zelda prefers to drink it straight.]
