It seems as if the arrival cycle is over now. Allow me to extend a belated welcome to everyone who was pulled into Vatheon this past cycle. I hope it does much to alleviate the confusion people feel upon arriving! I only edited them myself - the originals were created before I arrived in the city and maintained by Minato while he was still here. Having the cooperation of the Station Master helps immensely with distribution.

Well, all things considered. Missing my friends terribly, but I suppose that's to be expected.

May I ask how much you know about Alternian romance?

A fair amount. Karkat put up a very informative post on the quadrants awhile back, I read it thoroughly. Though my world lacks such a system, it is not difficult to understand.

[Moirails and matesprits were concepts that she understood immediately, and having a neutral third party to prevent fighting makes sense to her as well. Zelda had to mull it over quite a bit, but in the end she thinks she understands the point of a black romance. Having a rival pushes a person to better themselves. The sexual tension is... different, but not incomprehensible.]

That is quite reassuring to hear, I must admit. So you are at least acquainted with the concept of the ashen quadrant?

[Excuse all his questions, Zelda. This really isn't his first choice, but after taking care of Summoner after his last... escapade with the Highblood made him realize that he really couldn't just avoid the slobbering beast. Not with the kind of feelings he tended to provoke.]

Kuroh is very persistent. His stubbornness could very well cross worlds. And Neko would be lonely without me around to cling to.

I won't pretend like I have any sort of powers of precognition, but I can say with confidence that I won't be alone for very long.

Yes. It is the only quadrant with three people involved, correct? Two people who romantically hate each other and a third party to keep them at peace.

[She's also vaguely aware that she was filling that role for Lysunder and the Highblood when they were transformed into animals. Though Lysunder insisted that it wasn't like that, the Highblood seemed to think that it was. Generally she would feel uncomfortable pushing herself into someone else's romantic affairs (of any sort), but since they were both cursed she simply did it regardless.]

You may be correct regardless, at any rate. The city seems to take a particular interest in certain worlds from time to time.

Please do not take this as an insult, but I must confess that I am somewhat hesitant to bring up such personal affairs with an alien race. Very few here seem capable of understanding it or successfully engaging in it. If I could, I admit I would have a troll fill this position. I seem to have run into a block, however, as I can think of none that would want to involve themselves.

You interact with the Grand Highblood, do you not?

[Oh goddesses, he's asking her out, isn't he? Give her a moment to compose herself. Stopping the Highblood from fighting with anyone while in his usual physical form is not her idea of a good time, much less someone he might have a vested interest in.]

I do not take offense. I will admit that my understanding is limited, particularly since I am not sure romantic hate is an emotion I am even capable of feeling. Yes, I have had contact with the Highblood. We were neighbors for quite some time, and we chat every now and then. He is...

You would not prefer to simply return home and be with your friends there?

[It seems strange for someone to hope for their friends to arrive so soon after showing up in the city. Unless Shiro or the friends he has in mind are already dead back home...]

As I was saying, I acknowledge that there are very few who would so much try to look his way for fear of catching his attention. Since you are one of the few, I was hoping I could perhaps come to you for such a matter. You see, my hatred for him is extremely short of romantic, but dealing with him any longer in the way that I have been may jeopardize some of my relationships, including that of my children. I also cannot have him... compromising his kismessitude with Lysunder.

I understand this is a troublesome thing to request of you, but would you perhaps be interested in acting as an auspitice between the pair of us?

Home is... in a bit of a predicament at the moment. I don't know how things are going to turn out, but... well, to be honest I fear for the worst. The way things are going, I may have very well set in to motion events that can only be fixed by me.

[He won't say how he set those events in to motion, or when, or even how he can fix them, but his voice has certainly lost that chipper tone it had earlier.

All the things he could never tell Kuroh, because he knows that the Black Dog would sacrifice himself if he knew how Shiro was planning on ending the war.

There's a faint sigh from his end, but after a pause he breaks in to another smile.]

I consider it a vacation!

[By which he means one last chance to be with his friends before it all ends.]

He is dangerous, certainly, but he is not mindless. I simply recognize that it would cause more irritation for him to harm me than it would for him to leave me be.

[Excuse her if she makes a skeptical "hmm" sound at Darkleer insisting his hatred is short of romantic. Sounds like pretty intense hatred from this end!]

Ah, so they are in that sort of relationship.

[Why would Lysunder deny it? The Highblood seems like a perfectly respectable target for hate of any sort to Zelda, though she doesn't quite understand the whole affair. Perhaps denying it was just another way to show hatred.

Either way, if she can prevent Darkleer from ending up brutally mauled as he had been that night in the warehouse, she's game.]

I would not be adverse to that. Is the goal simply to keep you both from fighting, or would an auspitice attempt to bring the two quarreling parties to some sort of truce?
