[ So really all this video is is of books falling off a shelf. After they've settled, there is a tiny voice- ]

[ Duke is not wearing clothes in his own size, as the want for clothes that he doesn't keep on with tent-string was greatly diminished by his want to look at books.

Even if they are strange books in a strange barrier-ed place without any knights or sword stairs or palaces or quarters like he'd heard from the cats. ]

[There's no need to sneak, Duke. Zelda's noticed the cat as well, and she knows his habits fairly well. She nudges the tuna sandwich forward, smiling.]

The cat may prefer this one.

[ MINDREADER- Duke blinks at her, then at the cat, as if double checking Zelda's opinion-

And then he's putting his sandwich down so he can feed the cat. ]

[She probably could read minds if she really put the effort into it, especially the mind of a defenseless child - but Zelda has no interest in invading someone's personal space in such an intimate way.]

Do you like animals, Duke?

[dukeling]

Yes.

[ Because they're nice unless they're hurting, and then they're nice when he helps them stop hurting - or at least brings them to an adult who can, if he can't.

The cat seems quite pleased with the offering of the tuna sandwich, which Duke had peeled open. He may be sprawled on his chair so he can pay better attention to the cat than Zelda but... ]

There aren't too many animals here - I do have two at my house if you'd like to come see them, though. You may be stuck here for a little while anyway, it's best if you aren't alone.

[Zelda doesn't seem to find anything wrong with trying to lure a child home with a promise of cute animals. Come here little boy, I have a puppy in the back of my car...]

[dukeling]

[ Fortunately Duke isn't at the age where they warn him a lot about such things? Or maybe, since he doesn't go much off the grounds of his own manor (that they know of...) they didn't think it was needed. ]

... can I bring the kitty? [ You know, the one he was feeding.

Also Zelda you still have his book. ]

You can, but the bird we have is a little afraid of cats so the kitty will have to wait outside if you want to visit the bird's room. Is that okay?

[Of course she still has the book. If she gives Duke the book he'll wander off to read, she wants him in her house and safe before she does that!]

[dukeling]

Okay.

[ He sits properly to finish his sandwich then. ]

[Zelda finishes hers properly as well, packing up the others to take home. She drinks most of her water down, then waits for Duke to announce that he's ready.]

[dukeling]

[ Hmmn.. Duke seems to think that water doesn't go well with peanut butter and jelly, so he doesn't drink much of his.

But he is claiming the cat, who hadn't wandered away, and then watching Zelda. Are you ready? ]

[zelda_hylia]

[Yes, she's ready. The princess stands up with the sandwiches and the book, figuring that Duke will need both hands to hold the cat and not extending her hand this time.]

My house is about fifteen minutes from here. Shall we?

[dukeling]

.. Okay.

[ And he does. He's not tiny, but this is a full-grown cat of a fluffy and nice sized variety, so it does take up all of his arms.

But he's holding the cat right, and might giggle a little as he's cleaned a bit. ]

[That giggle earns a smile from her, small as it is. He talks normally as a child. He laughs normally too. He's a little introverted, but he seems... whole. It's kind of sad to watch, honestly. Zelda leads him to her house. The wards are active, since Link is comatose inside (and as a child, nonetheless). They're only slightly visible, but they're unquestionably still there.]

Here we are! This first house here we try to keep the animals out of, but we can bring the cat inside the second house.

[That said, she heads in.]

[ They get stared at a little - another weird sort of barrier? Other magic can make barriers? if it can, maybe that's why it looks that way. ]

Is the barrier made by a different sort of magic? [ He means the bubble.

And he looks between the doors. ]

This one is the second?

Yes. We had it attached since I have visitors frequently. There are many people in this city that need help.

[Duke being one of them right now. There's no way she's letting a child wander off on his own!]

[dukeling]

Oh.

[ Duke just follows her on in and..

Those socks he'd been using like stockings are coming off now. he just walked across a forest and city in them, they don't go inside a house.

And while he's staring at the floor, holding a cat, and in an entirely new - rather strange - place, he feels like he should double check something. ]

No one.. will worry? [ He doesn't want to get in trouble for being gone - but he doesn't want anyone to panic either... ]

[zelda_hylia]

As I said, time won't pass at your home while you're here, so you won't be worrying anyone.

[Zelda sets his book on the coffee table near a couch. If she's lucky, he'll curl up there with his cat and read it.]

... Okay. [ He's not really sure how that works but he feels better for now. What if he was stuck here for a really long time? Like a birthday, or a growth spurt? And then he went home?

But yes, his book. Zelda is indeed lucky, because he settles in the corner of the couch and the cat settles with him.

He might be reading some of the book to the cat. Don't judge. ]

[Zelda doesn't judge in the least, doing a little housework nearby while Duke reads and checking every now and then to see if he falls asleep. If he does, she drapes a blanket over him.]

[dukeling]

[ It wouldn't be surprising if he ended up napping, would it? Full, warm with a cat and a book...

He gets a good twenty or so pages in though! And he managed to avoid faceplanting into the book! ]

[zelda_hylia]

[And he gets tucked in with a blanket. Zelda simply makes dinner in the second house that day so that she isn't far away. Duke: acquired.]
