So, I think I'm getting my bearings. Thanks to those of you on the volunteer can opener brigade, that is. I gotta hand it to this place, it's like Mardi Gras with better beads. I flash my shoulder at the natives and they give me free power tools. So, uh, things are coming along. I might almost be able to make a decent pad for myself at this rate, lack of answers aside.

[what he neglects to say is that as soon as he IS settled, he'll he looking for said answers.]

One question, though. What's this I keep hearing about kids?

It's always fun to volunteer for interesting projects.

[It's about this time that Washu flips on her video feed. Remember the twelve-year-old red head genius? She's not so little anymore and very, very much an adult.]

We're in the middle of a curse. It seems this one has either aged people up or down for some unknown reason. I just hope this one doesn't last longer then the usual week.

No prizes for guessing how it hit you, then. ... How come they call them curses? It's obviously got some sort of physical effect, which means that there's a cause that should be able to be traced. What are the radiation levels like in this place?

[he's heard things about scientists having issues with gamma radiation, after all... never mind that one of them is HERE and they just haven't spoken yet]

As far as I'm aware, the word 'curse' was introduced by the scientists to describe the experiments that they are running on the captive populace. So far, the only warning that we get tends to be the little tattoo we have lighting up and then some are affected, some aren't.

As for radiation levels, it's funny you should ask. I've been planning to take a closer look at the bubble.

Once I get this pad up and running, I can take the suit up and help you get readings. Shouldn't take more than a few days, depending on how much I have to get from the Nook.

How much do people know about these scientists?

We don't know much at all about them which is the frustrating part.
