[there's music drifting over the network this morning. loud, upbeat hip hop, to be precise. it's almost drowning out the sound of power tools. after a few minutes of this, a hand reaches into the view of the video feed and grabs a water bottle. Tony dictates idly from somewhere offscreen]

So, I think I'm getting my bearings. Thanks to those of you on the volunteer can opener brigade, that is. I gotta hand it to this place, it's like Mardi Gras with better beads. I flash my shoulder at the natives and they give me free power tools. So, uh, things are coming along. I might almost be able to make a decent pad for myself at this rate, lack of answers aside.

[what he neglects to say is that as soon as he IS settled, he'll he looking for said answers.]

One question, though. What's this I keep hearing about kids?

[She smirks, leaning in to give him a kiss on the temple. Straightening, she nods]

The assembly pad is a good idea. If there's anything I can do to help...

[She lets the suggestion trail off. She knows she doesn't have the technical expertise but she does have quite a bit of experience tracking down materials and tools for him.]

Where are you going to install it? [She looks around, curiously]

Spare bedroom, for now. If I can get enough stuff from the market, it'll be a full lab soon enough. [he wraps an arm around her waist] If this place is as unpredictable as people are saying, I'm not gonna go without. What if something... I mean.

[he just looks up at her. there are a lot of kids here, and people who probably aren't good at defending themselves.]

I'm not home, but I'll be damned if I'm not gonna still do my job.

[She smiles, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and leaning into the embrace. It was nice to have some kind of normalcy here with everything going on. It was like an anchor reminding her that she wasn't crazy, that they really were stuck here. But at least they still had each other and that's something]

I'd be far more surprised if you didn't. From what I've been hearing it's certainly a good idea and will likely be very well received.

Yeah, and so far, most of the people I've met that are trying to do the same .... llline of work? [he glances around to make sure if the SFC is on or not] Eh. ... Butyeah, they're a lot more willing to share their motives and their plans than Fury and his Elite Beat Squad ever were, so. I'm calling that a good sign.
