PSA - So they say love is blind...
[Hi Vatheon! Resident sexy redhead here with an announcement.]
Good morning, bubble! I've got some exciting news! I know some of you have been looking forward to Valentines Day~ For those of you that aren't familiar with the holiday, it's to celebrate love in all its incarnations, but especially romantic love~ To that end, I've organized the perfect event down at Golden Victory for this month.
Here's how it works; there's a sign up sheet right when you enter the club, on the notice board. You can sign anyone up for a blind date. Yourself, your brother, your friend. Anyone is valid! They don't even have to know you're doing it. Just get them to Golden Victory on February 14th and we'll take care of the rest!
Everyone attending will get a mask and be seated at a table with their blind date, then watch the sparks fly~ You could meet your true love or just spend a night of great conversation! After dinner, we'll shove all the tables aside and crank up the music to round out the night with a party, all dancing, revelry, and an open bar for those of you old enough to drink.
Wondering what to do if you've already got a date? You're in luck! The party portion of the night is open to everyone, so come on down with your dancing shoes and cut a rug with your hunny♥
If you've got any questions, feel free to direct them here or leave a note for the staff and we'll get back to you!
[With a wink, Zelos waves at the bubble and signs off.]
((ooc: For actual sign ups and/or questions on how the event is going to work, please see the sign up post and the mod post in the ooc comm. There will be a twist to the event, so make sure you read the ooc details!))

[Zelos doesn't know a thing about the Vanguard or anything like that, but he does know the Tethe'allan government's policies towards half-elves have changed, especially since he's a major reason why, putting pressure on the king and the new leaders of the Church of Martel to preach equality.]
The point is people change. Aselia when I'm from? There's still some prejudice, sure, but half-elves don't hide anymore. They're protected by the government. Change can be a slow thing but it does happen and Humans are capable of it just like anyone.
[It's a weak argument, and he's sure it's gonna go flying back in his face as is usually Mithos' reaction to things that don't fit into his narrow world view, but at least he tried.]
Fear makes people do stupid things. Fear of half-elves made Tethe'alla lock them away, fear of losing your sister drove you to split the world, fear of... well, everything, made me play both sides. It's not just a Human condition, Mithos. It's more of a sentience condition.
[Zelos rubs his neck, looking away from the camera.]
It's what you do with the fear, letting it control you or pushing through it, that makes people - humans, elves, or half elves - different.
[ video ]
Do you really expect me to believe that humans just magically changed after the worlds were rejoined?
[ It was a ridiculous idea. But the more he listened... ]
... Just how much have they been able to live in the open?
[ video ]
[The last bit sound somewhat impassioned. After they'd each gone their separate ways from the new tree, Zelos had made arrangements for the vast majority of his fortune to be invested in Regal's company, which then in turn began to pump funds into reclamation and revitalization project for the city, not to mention international trade to promote peace between Tethe'alla and Sylvarant. The slums still have nothing on the noble quarter, but at least they're a major cut above what they were before and everyone can live there equally. Things are only improving, and Zelos feels at least a small measure of pride that he's part of the vehicle for that change, even if it's buried under the layers of guilt for how he acted before.]
[ video ]
[ That cynicism will likely always be there, Zelos. He can tell by the pride at the end there that Zelos might have some kind of personal stake in what he pointed out. It didn't matter. Not when he knows that humans haven't changed one bit when he did the same thing to protect the world four thousand years earlier. ]
Why should I believe this time will be any different?
[ video ]
[And he will too.]
It's one of Lloyd's obnoxious Dwarven vows, after all. "Let's all work together for a peaceful world."
[ video ]
[ A sigh. He slowly shakes his head. ]
Colette said they already went back to war. Maybe even the same war I stopped. It just sounds like I was right all along.
[ video ]
Well, then, here's the thing. Assuming we manage to keep our memories when we get out of here, we'll know what's coming. If you think we're just gonna let all our hard work reuniting the world go to waste, think again. Like I said, Humans learn. We learn.
[Okay so maybe it's obvious he's got some personal stake in this.]
[ video ]
[ Choose your words carefully, Zelos. Because what Mithos just asked is actually a lot more telling than it sounds. ]
[ video ]
But no, as much as he might be inclined to try to smooth things over like that, he's got a feeling Mithos knows more than he's saying.
Zelos presses his lips into a thin line, aware of the retribution he may be inviting.]
You didn't make it.
[ video ]
I know. Dhaos told me. [ A sigh. ] But that's not what I asked.
[ video ]
[If Mithos returns? Well, most people don't know he was behind anything, really just their little band of heroes...]
I think you'd be treated pretty much like anyone else. I mean, I'm not saying it's changed overnight, there's still a lot of bad blood on both sides because of the Desians and just general... yeah. But I think you'd see it is changing.
[A beat. He has to say it. Mithos knows it about him anyway.]
Not that I'd really trust you out and about, honestly.
[ video ]
[ A scoff. ] That figures. Don't worry, I wouldn't bother with them. I saved them once, and after how they repaid me last time, they can kill each other off for all I care.
[ video ]
Washing your hands of us lowly humans, eh?
[He knows he's not exactly human anymore either but he can't quite bring himself to say "those" instead of "us".]
[ video ]
As long as they stay away from the new Tree. [ And by extension, Martel. ]
[ video ]
[And it's not like they spread its location around. Until the tree is strong enough, it's best kept a secret.]
[ video ]
[ video ]
[It's one of his very few redeeming qualities, honestly. And he does it in a much more selfless way than Mithos.]
[ video ]
[ video ]
[ video ]
[ Mithos sighs. ] I also know he lies. Constantly. To me, to Kratos, to you and Lloyd. Trusting him with Martel is one thing... trusting him in general is something else entirely.
[ video ]
[Logic man, logic.]
[ video ]
[ video ]
[Being behind the SFC makes him maybe a bit too bold when talking to Mithos.]
[ video ]
[ video ]
Whatever you say, Mithos.
[At least he doesn't have to call him "Lord Yggdrasil" anymore.]
