Either way, he gives a ooomph noise, and winces. ]

But its oddly comfortable.

[ Mostly because its healing him, but that's besides the point. Rand blinks once, then a couple times to get water out of his eyes as he looks up. ]

I think a pillow would make it nicer, but that's neither here nor there.

[Good morning, who asked for a genki girl up in their face when they've just woken up?]

You seem to be in dire need of a towel right now.

[ He was really napping here for a completely different reason. One that might be explained with that wince. ]

[ Somewhat... gingerly sitting up. He's favoring that stained side. ]

[And she reaches out to lightly touch the stain, a bit of her spirit energy darting this way and that from her fingers to the fabric.]

[ Absently fascinated with the energy wisps. He's never seen female weaves- ]

The Taint in them is strong enough that scabbing is the best we've ever managed.

Taint...? Well, my spirit energy can ward off demons, for what that's worth, so--

[So she'll just shush up and start the healing. The small sparks before now bloom into a light over the stain.]

I am not quite sure what 'demons' are, but... think the pour of the source of all that is dark, that has been stabbed by something that tried to be good enough to burn that dark away, and ended up so terrifying to all that not even the most evil of things would get near.

[ Ah, that dagger. Rand is so glad he wiped that place from the land with the Taint on saidin, it was no good for anyone.

He carefully reaches over and tugs his shirt away from his side, just to make sure the healing wouldn't heal to it. ]

I'll do my best. [ He's not really sure how well this is going to work. ]

Mhm, that would be demons what demons are like--dark and grotesque monsters your parents tell you about to keep you in bed at night and so on. Well, some demons are nice but that's something we didn't really find out 'til recently.

[Not to worry, her energy only heals wounds and purifies toxic inconsistencies in one's spirit, she's no magical seamstress.

Though her eyes do slide from the point of healing to the boy in curiosity despite wanting to concentrate her energy and do this right.]

A, until recently, dying one. Although, if memory serves right, it may be a repeating one. Elan said we'd done this before, just that this time was the last.

I think it is a good thing, for this to be the last. I don't know if our world could handle another Breaking.

[ Well, it ought to heal more easily for her then, to the point it very heavily resists, but... Rand's spirit is a bit strange. There's quite a bit of tar-like toxic smeared across it, but it seems like something already protecting him - and that taint. A bright light, as weird as that sounds. ]

[There will come a point that--while her spirit healing abilities are high class among ferry women--she has to stop and draw away from the wound as the resistance sparks back at her hands, though it is now merely a fresh pink mark on his skin.

Botan slowly nods, and clasps her hands together.]

Forgive me, but that's all I can do for now. My spirit energy is tied into my life, you see.

[ Excuse him for being a farmboy for a moment and peeking at the wound. ]

The pleasure's all mine, Rand! [She could have gone for an honorific there, but people here seem to go exclusively in English, it wouldn't feel natural.]

[Um. No. Not normal. Lloyd shoots a look of alarm at the guy before rushing to his side.]

Hey, are you all right?

[ He's totally okay.

Slightly snoring and all. ]

[No answer. Wait, that doesn't mean he's dead, does it?

Oh, wait, no. He's snoring. Dead people don't snore.

Right?]

Uh, hey? Wake up!

[That's Lloyd. and that looks like a familiar head of red hair. Is it a familiar red head?

Lloyd, help me carry him. [Not even a question. ~~Why did you move in with him again?~~]

[Lloyd glances at Mat, a little startled to see him, but doesn't think to question the unexplained order. Hey, it makes sense that it'd be easier if they both carried him.

He reaches out to hook one of Rand's arms over his shoulder... only to realize that the arm he was reaching for was only half there. Lloyd's attention jerks fully onto him, alarmed.]

Mat, someone cut off his hand!

[Oh that. Mat shrugs, reaching for the other arm.]

Actually, I think it was burned off.

[That's kind of old news, Lloyd. That blood on the other hand...Mat makes a noise of disapproval.]

What'd he do this time? Looks like he flaming opened them again.

[His hand was burned off and you don't think that's cause for alarm?! Incredulous at the casual dismissal, Lloyd opens his mouth, only to stop when Mat draws his attention back to the blood on Rand's side.]

Wait, what do you mean, he opened them again? Opened what again?

[He fumbles at Rand's shirt, trying to pull it up to examine the wound.]

[Of course not. His eye was ripped out and if not for the fact he's sure Rand needed to know that Moiraine was back, he would have made a joke about it being because of some angry innkeepers.

Mat reaches a hand down to help expose the twin wounds in his friend's side.]

These two bloody wounds of his that never healed properly.

[The fact that they opened again is way more worrisome than his hand. He's already asked about that.]

[ thirteen angry innkeepers and a corkscrew, Mat?

Rand squirms awake. ]

Hey, hey! It was just scabbing up!

[ He's awake. Stop stripping him in public, Mat, he only gave you CPR that once. and it wasn't in public! ]

[Yeah, well, maybe if you stop bleeding in public, Rand...

Lloyd's eyes widen.]

Oh man, what happened? [And as if that isn't bad enough, there's something even more alarming. Lloyd's eyes widen further.] And why isn't the coral healing them?!

[Because Rand lying draping across the coral should have done something for them.]

[He wasn't the one who started stripping Rand though...

Mat just shrugs, shifting a bit uncomfortably. That flaming dagger...]

A really nasty dagger wound and another thing. Think you can walk, Rand?

And you heard him; it's helping. They were scabbing. [Which is more than they usually do quickly...]

Ba'alzamon made a staff of True Power and stuck me in the side. And then the dagger just so happened to hit right about the same spot.

[ He's correcting you. But yes, both really nasty stuff. Rand winces but holds his arms up. ]

Give me a tug up, and that ought to be all I need.

[True Power? Lloyd has no idea what that is, but it's obviously bad if it can leave a wound like this, especially one that isn't healing even with the coral's touch.]

It should be more than scabbed over, though! He was lying on the coral, Mat!

[He pauses long enough to give Rand a look like he's crazy.]

Should you even be moving at all? Maybe you need to keeping touching the coral longer, at least until you're a little more healed.

...Scabbed over is flaming good for those wounds, Lloyd. I don't think they've ever gotten more than scabbed over.

[Lloyd, it's really not a big deal-- Mat grabs onto one of Rand's arms, doing as he asked and tugging him up.

And Rand's better now. He doesn't think he's a ferret anymore.]

Just trust us on this. If we wait for it to heal more, we might be here for most of the day.

[ Mat, he never thought he was a ferret.

Rand leans on Mat for a little bit, before straightening a little gingerly. He's taller than Regal, Lloyd. Almost as tall as Dhaos. ]

And it might not do much good. I'll stock up on bandaging again, or something.

[ and have a smile, Lloyd. ]

[ As if listening to Mat wouldn't have told Lloyd that, but shhh.

Don't mind him, but that odd crystal like sword that had been just sitting there floats up to Rand's grip. There's a spot for it on his belt. ]

[Oh, right, picking Rand up. Lloyd adds his assistance to this effort. Whoa, this guy is tall!]

Rand, huh? I'd say it's nice to meet you, but... Are you sure that you're all right? If scabbed over is the best that wound ever gets, that sounds really bad- oh!

[He starts in surprise when the crystal sword floats up.]

Blood and bloody ashes, Rand! [He should have expected him to channel, but honestly he didn't think the flaming medallion would go cold just then.

He'll let Rand answer Lloyd's questions though, just shifting to glare at his friend and readjust Rand's arm.]

No, I didn't think he was about to 'cast' anything. I felt him use the flaming weaves because of this bloody thing.

I've never tried to play with Cyclones-

[ Oh no, Lloyd, you're giving Rand Ideas. ]

And Mat, saidin isn't bloody. I cleaned it, remember? And got rid of Shadar Logoth as well.

[ That had been entirely intentional on his point. Maybe that would have turned the bragging contest to his favor- ]

We're usually called channelers, or Aes Sedai, but 'Magic user' is definitely accurate.

[ He'll neglect to mention he's the only male Aes Sedai because he's insane and remembers being one. Its all fluffy details- ]

[The term wasn't familiar to him at all. No remorse about giving Rand ideas, though. Hey, Wind Blades and Cyclones are pretty common spells, at least with the company he hangs with. Just so long as it's not targeting him, he sees nothing wrong with it!]

Aes Sedai, huh. That sounds pretty cool!

[Lloyd's brow furrows at Mat's comment, though, and he directs his next words at him.]

If you don't like it, why don't you just take it off? What does it even do?

It's the male half of the One Power. And you know what I meant.

[...Well, Aes Sedai does mean Servant of All. Even if most of them don't act like it any more.

Mat sighs, slipping the medallion back under his shirt.]

I like the bloody medallion. It makes it so saidin and saidar can't affect me. But it gets flaming cold when they do.

It means that people have to ask him if they want to heal them. Some of the Aes Sedai... don't.

[ It also means that if a Dreadlord, or Forsaken show up, Mat is the safest person about. ]

The Inn is still standing?

[ He'd like to get a seat, and some dry clothing. ]

They have to ask? Why wouldn't he want to be healed?

[That implies that Mat would be hurt, and who wants to be hurt?

Have you thought about wrapping it up in a bag, or something warm so it doesn't feel cold?

[Losing your bloody memories and being ravenous for quite a while after - as well as nearly dying because of it...It actually isn't that much of a surprise he doesn't want to be Healed again.

He exhales, nodding at Rand's question.]

Yeah, it's still up. [To Lloyd again.] And being able to feel it lets me know if someone I haven't seen is trying to kill me with the flaming One Power.

It really is rather useful. [ To Lloyd. ] In a non-magic way to think of it, its not only being immune to a poison, or a blow to the back, but knowing someone nearby has tried something. And the healing we know, ah... has a toll on the body. It isn't that nice to just heal someone, and take a weeks strength from them.

[ Or a few months. ]

Ah, that's good. I think I can make it there, shall we go?

Huh. I didn't think of it like that. When you put it that way, that sounds really neat! Is there any way I can get one, too?

[Yup, typical Lloyd, responding to something shiny and new and interesting!]
