Recent.. ah, personal events have given me cause to wonder.. and with the range of experience and potential views within this place, I find that I am compelled to ask...

What is the purpose of 'dating', in a romantic sense, in your respective cultures?

They're part of my job. Remember when I told you about how humans and demons don't always get along?

Yes, I remember..

Well, I always try to talk out problems first, since I like peace better than fighting. But sometimes it's impossible to reconcile differences. Some demons, they just want to invade the human world and not be cooperative. Or sometimes they're out to hurt people specifically. In those cases, I have to go fight them.

Bible verses are one of the ways to exorcise demons. Each demon has their own special verse that, when they hear it, they get kicked out of the human world and sent back to the demon world. But there's millions of verses, and I had to memorize all of 'em and remember which verse goes to which type of demon.

I see.. [She nods in understanding, a small smile at his first words - approval, certainly, for his preference towards talking over violence.]

That is very impressive! I am in envy of your memory.

[He smiles a little at that.]

It has its uses. Bible verses are hardly romantic, though.

Could you give me an example?

Well... Truthfully, the Bible itself isn't really poetry, not in the way people imagine when they think about poetry. It's more like a series of stories of a time long ago.

I don't mind sharing, but a lot of people find it boring.

Shiro... if I did not know better I might think that you were stalling.

...Ah.

[Maybe he was.]

Well, if you insist.

[He'll go ahead and start with Genesis, though. The creation of Earth is at least a somewhat friendly story. He stops after the whole 'and on the seventh day, he rested' part, not wanting to go on too long.]

[She listens in silence while he recites the passage, then at the end, makes a soft sound of thought.]

Fascinating... [And it truly is, to her, to hear such a story.] But.. I have a question.. If the sun was created only on the third day, where did the light come from on the first?

From God himself. He's an all-powerful being, he just made the sun so that the world wouldn't be in darkness if he wasn't right there all the time.

[Oh dear, Shiro, now what have you started.]

[Wait until they get to the part where Jesus shows up.]
