Recent.. ah, personal events have given me cause to wonder.. and with the range of experience and potential views within this place, I find that I am compelled to ask...

What is the purpose of 'dating', in a romantic sense, in your respective cultures?

I understand why you would want to keep this a secret. I won't tell anybody... Though you'll need to talk about it with a few people. Signless, as I'm sure you're aware... but I think there might be something going on with him and Disciple as well. They nearly killed each other several months ago, and I think they're had some recent encounters... but Disciple hasn't exactly been forthcoming regarding him.

[Despite her initial hesitation, Kanaya seems to take the news rather well. She doesn't see the appeal of the man, but who's she to judge? Besides, this is Dolorosa... and this is all information that she should know about if she's going to be involved with the sea dweller.]

I intend to speak with Signless, though I cannot imagine this will meet with his approval, for several reasons. [It's more for the sake of their unique relationship that she wants to confer with him, rather than requiring his approval of her choices. Of course, he would be the only person who would be able to change her mind.

The information about Disciple causes a moment of surprise, but it barely shows.] I had thought something like that had happened, but I thought it impolite to ask. [She does share a hive with the other female, after all.]

However.. I am not interested in intruding upon any black interactions they may be embarking upon. Perhaps you are correct, though.. and thank you, dear, for your discretion. I knew that I could trust you.

Of course. I... care about you. We haven't been acquainted for all that long but I still feel so close. I want you to be happy... and if he's going to do that for you, then I'm glad to help as I can.

I think something happened between them. Disciple seemed to avoid the subject when it came up. The first time... they were arguing, and he goaded her into losing control. He drew a weapon as she tried to go for his throat. I stepped in between them and she hit me instead. She still blames herself a little for what she did to me, but I think she hates him for starting it all.

Hmn..

[She doesn't seem surprised at the violence aspect, nor the fact that Disciple blames herself for striking Kanaya. A slow sigh leaves her and she presses one thumb to her temple, rubbing lightly.]

Thank you for telling me this. I hope that it will not present itself as a problem, but it does not hurt to be informed. Are you aware of any auspistice?

Not that I know of. I have to admit I felt the impulse to arbitrate when I stepped in the first time... but I don't know if I would make a good auspistice for them. I'm so much younger than they are, and unless Disciple opens up to me I'm not sure I know everything that's been going on.

I will see if I can persuade her to speak with me. If they are truly engaging in this, it should not go unchecked.
