[video] Rin, Maka and Kid, one week late w/ Star(fish)bucks
(Death the Kid in black, Maka Albarn in green, and Rin Okumura in blue.)
Did you really have to make her do it eight times?
I needed the foam to coffee ratio to be absolutely perfect.
[Three (familiar) teenagers are headed back to the Villa, carrying white take-away cups with green starfish prominently printed on them, backpacks hanging from their shoulders; Maka and Rin are walking together, close in that way that speaks of comfortable intimacy. Kid is leading the way by a stride or two, and it's his SFC that's recording the trio of friends.
Yep, they're one week late returning from their camping trip, bringing Star(fish)bucks. If you look closely enough, you might spy his Eevee, Pip, capering around in their wake. Someone's tied a ribbon around his neck, because he's just so cute.]
Maybe next time we should warn them about Kid's uh... 'habits'.
[Rin would have used air quotes, if his hands weren't full. Maka answers next, sounding resigned enough about their friend's antics, but it seems as though they survived the camping trip without any trauma.]
A warning can only do so much when it comes to him.
Heheh... that's true. He's kind of a handful isn't he?
Well yeah, that's just the way Kid is. I never told you that he actually has two Weapon partners, did I? Obviously it takes two people to reign him in.
Seriously? Geez, they got their work cut out for them, don't they?
[Oh man, lovey dovey couples and their conversations. Kid butts in, changing the subject, because GOSH HE CAN HEAR YOU TWO JUST FINE. Loftily:]
We are recording, you know. Hello, everyone. We're almost to the Villa now, and we're interested in an update on anything important we might have missed--
...Why did this need to be recorded.
Yeah, seriously. We woulda just got home and been like "hi, we're home". Are you really that impatient?
[Without hesitation:] Yes.
... you're somethin' else, Kid.
Whatever at least we're home.
As pleasant as it is to get away now and then, it's always a relief to return ho-- oh good heavens no.
... what the hell happened here?
...
[You know that moment in a movie where the parents went off on vacation and the kids threw a party of truly epic proportions? This is Ground Zero of Party Central. The Aftermath. That is the level of mess visible in the foyer of the Villa, now that they've arrived at their destination. Rin is mystified, Maka looks like she might just break the party responsible in two, and Kid?
Well, just be glad the video ends with his blood-curdling shriek of horror.]

And more empty bottles on the coffee table.
And even more on the table they took out into the living room for card games.
And a few empty bags of chips in various places.
And more than a few chips that were dropped on the ground and stepped on.
And a couple full ash trays with some ashes spilling over.
And the living room smells like smoke and booze, actually.
And the furniture is moved all over to make it better for a party.
And glitter everywhere.
...okay yeah it's messy. But Shiro was going to clean it up! It's not his fault you guys showed up before he woke up.
When Kid screams he wakes with a start and falls off the couch, hitting his head on the coffee table as he does so. Whoops there goes a few more bottles onto the floor.]
action
[Rin sounds shockingly deadpan when he says that. He is really not amused with your shit, Shiro. Seriously, how ass-backwards is this?]
action
Yes, see looks like she's ready to curbstomp somebody, man old enough to be her father or not, as she carefully holds Pip and Aurelio (secure in a shoulderbag for the latter) so they don't end up needing baths from all the disgustingness.]
Gee. I'm so glad. At least we have someone to chew out for this shit.

[Admittedly, that is a pretty impressive mess. The Alpha house never got that bad, even when it was just him and Roxy there without Jane's organizing influence.]
I doubt Kid will see this for a while, since he'll be held up until he organizes all the cat toys again, [Hence why Dirk isn't being more amused] but you missed most of the new arrivals.
[Fucking adults, why are they so childish?]
What do you mean new arrivals? Someone dangerous?
[Which technically isn't reassuring at all.]
Just some interesting ones, this time.

When I asked for an update, I wasn't asking you.
[Oh, gross.
In spite of how much he wants to put Dirk's smug face through a wall, having this awful part of his daily routine back feels somewhat like welcome normalcy. UGH WHY ARE YOU SO HORRIBLE AND WHY CAN'T HE QUIT YOU.]
Or you could even ignore me, if you really tried.

The bloodcurdling screech gets Stein up and out of bed, and he's out of his room and halfway down the hallways before his soul perception kicks in. Then he realizes that it's just Kid freaking out.
Congrats, children. You now know what professa wears to bed. Pants, and that's it.]
Kid.
[The pterodactyl noises are not appreciated. It's too early for this and Stein doesn't even have his glasses on. ]

There are lines of scars leading everywhere, and no matter how much Kid's mind tries to impose a sort of orderliness to the chaotic jumble the snarl of nonsensical lines continues to mock him.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO--
At some point, the credenza in the hall is legitimately thrown at him. His backpack follows it. Kid please violence is never the answer.]
no subject
Stein grabs a heavy, monochrome blanket and walks over to Kid, then drops it over the young god's head, like Kid's some kind of small, terrified animal that can be calmed down with darkness.]

Liz is actually on her way through the living room to the kitchen when she hears the scream. The very familiar scream. She just sort of stops and stares and then sighs. ]
Honestly, are you trying to wake the dead?
no subject
[Wait.]
Liz?
[What when Dirk said that someone from her world was here, she didn't expect--]
Liz!
[Okay I guess Liz is an exception for the dour "oh how long will THEY stay here" viewpoint, because she's getting an enthusiastic hug.]
no subject
But Liz just smiles and absently pats Maka's head while giving her a hug back. ]
Nice to see you, too.
no subject
Liz, get Patti and bring me everything in the closet to the left of the bathroom. Everything. If we're going to return this exactly the way it was, I need to get started immediately!
[And then, eyes wide, in time with Maka:]
Liz? [With an unmistakable sound of his voice cracking:] When did you arrive..?!

Or... it's just Kid having a nervous breakdown.
Wait, that's great! It's just Kid having a nervous breakdown! Maka is now officially in the most physical danger because Marie is still charging-- this time to scoop her up in a hug. Kid might get caught up in it too. ]
Welcome home, everyone!
[ There is no escape from Marie hugs. ]
action;
Why is Marie here.]
action; /HURLS SELF IN HERE TOO
Rin dodges by making a quick step to the side, narrowly avoiding getting caught up in the hug. He's just going to... blink. And stare. And have his tail sort of twitch curiously.]
Uhm. Kid's... havin' a moment, you might wanna give him a bit. I'm gonna guess you're some one from their world?
[That or an insane woman has broken in to their house and believes them to be her children.]

Better, now that the Villa is beginning to look presentable.
[With a soft mutter, Kid puts down the SFC and wanders out of sight. The table on which it rests begins to edge a little to the right, as he adjusts it.]
...Yes, much better. Who are you?
