Accidental Video

*There's a blur on the screen as it seems the SFC is moved from one pair of hands to another. When the image finally settles, it is tilted at an angle. Most of the image appears to be a boring bedside table with a jug of water on, and the frame of a boring bed, similar to what might be seen in a hospital. A smaller section of the screen shows half of someone's pale face, the eyes covered with bandages. The only thing that might identify this person are some flicks of brown hair, sitting above a shoulder in a hospital gown. The SFC is moved again, showing this unhappy figure in a bed, before the feed flickers out*

*Selphie just sits on the edge of the bed while he's gone, swinging her legs gently, thinking far too hard about what she's going to do with herself without her sigh. So it's a relief when he returns, slightly shifting towards where she's guesing he's standing*

Find something?

Yes, something to sleep in. [He places the garments in front of her, gently taking one hand and placing it atop the clothes.] They should be able to fit. It's just a shirt and sweatpants.

[booyaka_boom]

*She raises a brow, just visible above her bandage. As her hand moves across the material, and eventually takes hold of the clothes, Selphie looks quite amused*

I guess I just gotta trust that you're not dressing me up in really weird colours.

[formerabyssinian]

As if I would have weird colors. [Aya smirks and makes an amused noise.]

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie laughs and places the clothes on her knee, shaking her head*

Yeah, that's a good point! Thanks again, Aya. I've been such a nuisance today!

[formerabyssinian]

You haven't been, so don't worry. I'll let you get dressed. Just let me know when you're done.

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie just nods and, when he leaves, begins to get herself dressed. It takes much longer than usual, because she has to tug and pull at her dress. And then she has to feel around the neckline and the waist band of the clothes because she doesn't want to wind up with them on back to front. The whole thing was quite an ordeal. Eventually, Selphie shuffles out of the room, the legs of the pants and the sleeves of her shirts too long - dripping off the ends of her hands, and she nearly trips on the ends of the legs*

Aya? *She calls out in the corridor, no idea where he is* Can you help me with these?

[formerabyssinian]

[Aya is in the kitchen, making some tea and sandwiches for them when he hears Selphie call out for him. He puts down the butter knife and goes to find her. The sight he discovers is amusing enough to make him chuckle.]

At least they aren't too small. [He steps forward and proceeds to roll up her sleeves first, then pants legs. There isn't much finesse to how he does it, though.] How is that?

[booyaka_boom]

*The sound of his laughter makes Selphie laugh too and she gives her arms and legs a little shake just for effect. Once he's done rolling her up, she shakes her limbs again to test them*

Perfect! How do I look?

[formerabyssinian]

You look like a well dressed squid when you do that. [He did a few more adjustments before stepping away a bit to assess his work.] Now you look comfortable.

I'm almost finished in the kitchen. Did you want to sit with me there or I could meet you in the room soon?

[booyaka_boom]

A well dressed squid? Just what I always wanted! *Selphie laughed but stood patiently as he readjusted her sleeves and feet. Then she smiled, swinging her arms back and forth*

Can I come sit with you in the kitchen? Can I get there easy?

[formerabyssinian]

Your goals are a bit strange, Selphie. [He chuckles, reaching forward for her hand.] The kitchen isn't too far, but the floor is cold.

[Right, he should have brought her socks...]

[booyaka_boom]

Maybe! But it keeps things interesting.

*Her hand bumps awkwardly into his before she can grapple onto it properly. She's still trying to walk with as much purpose as possible, but has to go on tiptoes across the cold floor*

Are you making something in here?

[formerabyssinian]

[Did she get taller...]

Just some tea and sandwiches. [He pulls out a stool for her, helping her to sit.]

[booyaka_boom]

*Yes, Aya! Like magic! She stumbles up onto the stool, wobbling slightly and reaching out a hand to steady herself*

Wow! Really? Aya, you're my hero, looking after me like this!

*She claps her hands together, smiling brightly*

[Such a term doesn't exactly sit well with him.]

I'm no hero. Far from it.

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie frowns slightly at this and shakes her head, still trying to keep her voice light*

Of course you are! You rescued me and carried me the whole way here!

[formerabyssinian]

It's because I care for you. Probably more than I should. [He finished making the sandwiches, which are simply ham and cheese with spinach, cut diagonally. A plate is placed in front of her before he sits next to her with his own sandwich.]

[booyaka_boom]

*It's a good job that he hasn't handed her the plate, because otherwise she would have dropped it. Her cheeks flush red at the first part, and she bows her head slightly at the second part*

More than you should...?

*In trying so hard not to sigh, Selphie actually sighs pretty heavily and picks up one half of a sandwich*

[formerabyssinian]

[And then Aya remembers that he is fantastic at putting his foot in his mouth. He runs a hand through his hair.]

Don't...take that the wrong way. [Although he's not sure how she should take it...]

[booyaka_boom]

No. Sure. Right.

*She brings her sandwich closer, but suddenly finds that she's not hungry. Still, it's not like she can scramble away easily if she wanted to. So she takes the tiniest bite, spending a long time chewing it before she can swallow*

[formerabyssinian]

Selphie... [Now he sighs and turns to her in his seat.] I meant that...after all this time and all that I've done, I don't always feel as if I should be so fortunate.

[booyaka_boom]

*But she's still facing ahead, though she's at risk of squishing her sandwich so she puts it down on her plate*

Fortunate...? What are you even talking about, Aya?

*Selphie shakes her head, biting her lip*

I don't know what that's about... but don't talk to me about 'all that you've done'.

*Because, after all, her position wasn't so different. The things that they've done are potentially similar in some ways*

[formerabyssinian]

[Aya isn't surprised that what he said has made her angry, and isn't surprised at her reaction. He's not sure what to say to her without explaining everything that he's been through since he was sixteen, and he's already come to the conclusion that he would be just digging a deeper hole.]

[He's quiet for a moment before speaking again.]

Sorry... [He seems to have lost his appetite, too.]

*Selphie just keeps still for a long time, finally pulling a small part of sandwich away and popping it into her mouth. She chews for while, head and shoulders sagging*

No...I get it. I know you've had a tough time. I just...

*She sighs again and leans forwards, pressing the heels of her hands into her bandage eyes. It takes her a few moments to try and get her thoughts together*

I'm just sorry that it seems like such a bad idea to you to care about me...

*What she really wants is to go away and hide, but she know she can't do that without falling. So instead she just sits there, wishing herself invisible instead of blind*
