[For those familiar with Dirk, they might notice something unusual about him today- for all that he usually wears shirts decorated with hats, he hasn't ever been a fan of wearing them. Until now, apparently, considering he's wearing one right now. It goes a long way toward making him look like Bro Strider, which is impressive, since they already look like clones.

It doesn't seem like he's about to talk about that, though.]

I have to say, I'm impressed by the amount of whining we've gotten for a simple curse like this. Jesus shit, it's a minor one, calm your tits and deal.

My shit, huh? [He's finally getting up from his seat on the edge of the roof- by flashstep no less- and raising his katana. This kind of bullshit reeks of a longing to suffer a beatdown. There's not even a need to say anything else. He'll just give Dirk the universal 'come at me bro' handgesture.]

[Dirk's pretty casual himself. He wasn't angling for a fight, and in his mind Bro's just overreacting and proving him right, but that's no reason not to turn this into a strife.

He's been meaning to have a go against his older self anyway. Hence why he pulls out his katana, and does, in fact, come at Bro. In a fashion remarkably similar to Bro's own fighting style, since he doesn't just charge. He flashsteps to the side first, then closer, close enough to strike.]

[Bro would've been very disappointed if Dirk had charged directly. That's a rookie mistake. He's fully prepared to block on all sides, though the sheer speed of the flashstep does catch him offguard just a little. Dirk is a small step up from the level Dave had before entering the Medium. To the untrained eye, a flashstep is a flashstep, but Bro can tell the difference.

The two blades clash with a loud noise, but Bro's already on the move the moment they do. Upwards, then sideways. He'll go for an offensive strike of his own, but assuming his assessment of Dirk is correct, it'll be blocked. Knowing that much simply doesn't stop him.]

[It helps that he's both older than when Dave entered the Medium, and God Tier. But Bro is a master in his craft, and Dirk is sure to find a challenge here.

Bro's assessment is completely accurate. Dirk does block, but rather than turn it into a prolonged contest of strength against an older, heavier version of himself, he disengages and goes in for an immediate counterstrike without even flashstepping in a different direction.]

[The counterstrike is dodged with a flashstep, but only barely. It makes Bro realize that he really needs to up his game. This isn't some casual kiddie strife; he's up against a legit strong opponent here. No pussyfooting around, he's going right back in with a fierce counter slash of his own.]

[It's Dirk's turn to flashstep, this time. He knows his sword won't break when he blocks, it's literally unbreakable, but that doesn't mean he can hold Bro back constantly, and if he's going to win this fight, he can't let his arms get tired out too soon.

Hence why he flashsteps a good distance away, this time. Bro's going to have to come after him, now.]

[And go after him he will. Today's one of those days where Bro can get so carried away in strifes he'll become reckless. He knows he shouldn't- he knows he should balance out the offense with a good defense and take proper advantage of his agility, but part of him just feels like the only way to best Dirk is with speedy brute force.

He's starting off with a sideways swipe that's really more of a distraction than anything else, because his true goal is to move straight on and flashstep his way behind Dirk if the kid tries to block it.]

[If Dirk disapproves, it isn't showing on his face. He's completely focused on the immediacy of the fight- for once, there's no distractions running in a loop in the back of his head. What the fuck else does he have to worry about, anyway? Nothing.

Dirk responds to the sideswipe by putting up his sword to block, then sidestepping, not flashing away. It's cocky, sure, but he thinks he can get away with it. Hence, when Bro ends up behind him, he has time to start to turn, but not get out of the way of Bro's attack.]

[The trouble with such fast-paced strifes is always having to be at least one step ahead of your opponent. Ideally three steps ahead, but that one's risky, because if said opponent doesn't move the way you expect them to, you get thrown for a loop. For someone who's essentially him, Dirk isn't moving entirely the way Bro expects. Close, but not close enough.

He does indeed follow through with his attack, even with Dirk already turning to face him. However, it's not just about swords. The second that attack gets blocked, he'll flash upwards just a bit to break the contact again, then move a leg up to try and kick Dirk in the chest. With his long limbs, he doesn't even need to be that close to succeed. Surprise kicks were a thing that tended to catch Dave offguard, so it might just work here.]

[Dirk just barely gets the flat of his blade up between his chest and Bro's foot, and while it might be enough to keep Bro from actually hitting him, it's not enough to stop the force and momentum of it. In short, it nearly lands him on his ass, and he has to stumble his way into landing on one knee instead.

It smarts like hell, but he forces himself up onto his feet again immediately, because there's no time to waste in a strife as fast as this. Before Bro can follow up, he's flashstepping again, playing at keepaway if Bro wants to keep on with his lead.]
