[It's late. Or too damn early. Somewhere in that ambiguous area, like 3:00 in the morning, just fine for certain parts of the alien population and a god-awful time for the rest. But here Kid is, addressing the network from the confines of a room in the island-side village.

One can just make out a few figures (Maka Albarn and Rin Okumura) behind him, sound asleep in their bed.]

I have a very important announcement to make, one that simply cannot wait until morning!

[The grim reaper, looking more lively than he has since... well, since the bubble cracked, stoops out of sight of the SFC, and reappears with an Umbreon in his arms. Beaming with the pride perhaps only a father might have for their child, he declares:]

This is Pip, and he's become even more beautiful than ever!

[It is indeed Pip, recently evolved, and he is still fat. He is also a she, but Kid never investigated that closely. Promptly forgetting about the SFC in his eagerness, Kid retreats with Pip in his arms to bend over Maka.]

Maka, Maka! Wake up! I don't want you to miss this!

[He's still far too weak to consider resistance, and too inclined to join in on this intense cuddling session with their Pokemon.

Oops, that SFC sure is still rolling?! Ugh teenagers being shmoopy at their pets and each other, gross!]

We were out for a walk, it simply happened, isn't he wonderful?

[Amazingly it's not the noise that wakes Rin up, but the sudden shifting of weight back against him once the cuddling starts. He doesn't open his eyes or even make a noise, but his tail does twitch, and move to drape over his midsection while he curls tighter under his blankets.]

Riiiin! Pip evolved! Wake up!

[JOIN THEM IN THE CUDDLES.]

[Have you ever tried to sleep with a Pip prancing all over you? Because that's happening. And Kid's letting him trot all over Rin.]

[What no need sleep why you do this.

Rin weakly swats a hand out from under his blanket, trying to shoo them away.]

[UNACCEPTABLE.]

Rin! Wake up!

[TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

And this will be remedied, he hopes, by a change of tactic, to the tune of lifting Rin's tail and attempting to use its tufted end to tickle his ear while Pip eagerly snuffles at his face.]

This is important, and you're still sleeping!

[Rin finally answers, his voice muffled from trying so damn hard to be the ultimate Rin Blanket Burrito. It's not easy with a Pokemon shoving against his face and some one making his tail in to a brush.]

Yeah 'cause you two have been complainin' all week that I've been workin' too hard, and now you're wakin' me up at ass o'clock in the morning...

This is a good thing to wake up for!

[Totally logical.]

[And this is Kid intentionally leaning heavily (for a reaper whose weight is nevertheless negligible for his height) on the prone half-demon, scooping up Pip in order to plop him directly onto Rin's head.

They are the most considerate partners.]

At the very least, you can wake up long enough to tell her how lovely she is.

[Guys, plz.]

[There will be vengeance for this, guys.

But you've at least convinced Rin to grumble and sit up, letting Pip fall in to his lap with the movement.]

... wow. Pip looks... kinda cool.

[But look how adorably excited they are, Rin!!]

Isn't it great? I never thought Pip would evolve!

[But then she never realized that Pip was a girl either.]

[Rin's move to sit up results in Kid shifting aside to close the circle of attention surrounding the Umbreon, content to absorb the individual reactions of the other two.

Pip, enthused about the attention, promptly decides now is a fabulous time to flop onto her back and expose a round, fuzzy belly for scritches.

It's totally graceful. Really.]

I certainly never expected it. What's more, I've learned that females are quite rare.

[So graceful.

But it accomplishes it's goal consider Rin starts scratching her belly without a second thought.]

Female... ?

[Oh look his hand just happened to be in the right spot to move a bit of fur and--]

... oh. Wow. He's a she.

...Yep.

[Yeeeeep.]

I don't mind. How do you think I feel being one of the few girls in the house?

[Kid begins to balk, intending to put a stop to this by grabbing onto Rin's wrist.]

At least spare her some modesty--

[Pip doesn't mind, really, she's getting attention! But Maka's mentioned something Kid's only just now taking actual notice of, and he slowly looks at her.]

You're right. There's a distinctly larger presence of males in the house. [Oh no.] We'll need to fill the remaining rooms with more girls, obviously!

Gimmie a break, I've taken care of cats before...

[He knows how to look without making a big show of it. Besides, Pip seems to be enjoying it, and Rin even gets his fingers in to his petting, scratching along her fluffy underside.]

I think it's full enough in there without tryin' to get more people in the house.

[If they ever get back down there, that is.

Oop. Rin is yawning.]

No, Kid.

[Stop being silly.

And why did Rin have to do that, now Maka's yawning again, followed by a little discontented noise and a flop back against the bed.]

[Maka's flop onto the bed results in Pip flipping back over onto all fours and scampering over to find somewhere to nuzzle up and optimize cuddle time with nap time.

Kid catches the hint. He asides to Rin, looking a little wry:]

Don't let me keep you up any longer. Sleep well.

[YUP it is so bed time now. Rin nods through his yawn and flops over, turning on his side so he can give Pip a nice pocket space between him and Maka to sleep in.]

G'night, Kid.
