[It's late. Or too damn early. Somewhere in that ambiguous area, like 3:00 in the morning, just fine for certain parts of the alien population and a god-awful time for the rest. But here Kid is, addressing the network from the confines of a room in the island-side village.
One can just make out a few figures (Maka Albarn and Rin Okumura) behind him, sound asleep in their bed.]
I have a very important announcement to make, one that simply cannot wait until morning!
[The grim reaper, looking more lively than he has since... well, since the bubble cracked, stoops out of sight of the SFC, and reappears with an Umbreon in his arms. Beaming with the pride perhaps only a father might have for their child, he declares:]
This is Pip, and he's become even more beautiful than ever!
[It is indeed Pip, recently evolved, and he is still fat. He is also a she, but Kid never investigated that closely. Promptly forgetting about the SFC in his eagerness, Kid retreats with Pip in his arms to bend over Maka.]
Maka, Maka! Wake up! I don't want you to miss this!

[Now he's gotten numbers in to his explanation. We're all doomed.]
Writing it down... ? There wasn't really a need to. Pokedex readers and encyclopedias held all the information any would-be trainer or Pokemon enthusiast would ever need.
[It doesn't occur to him that it would be for the sake of people in Vatheon, who aren't actually trainers. Or natives to their world.]

Those number few in Vatheon, I believe. In fact, the only actual trainers I've met would be Bianca and... you, right?

... but the numbers don't work out to eight. The equation would be off, and therefore incorrect if the ratio was eight to one. Aren't all numbers elegant? To single out one as more elegant than the others is a pointless exercise.

How can you fail to see how eight stands above all the rest? Among all others, it's only eight that appears perfectly symmetrical, whether bisected vertically or horizontally! The only other figure capable of such flawless beauty is zero, and that's not even a number!!

How can you dismissed the rest of the world's numbers based on symmetry?! The laws of mathematics don't simply bend to your will because you do or don't find them aesthetically pleasing! Zero is as much of a number as one, two, three... any rational and irrational number regardless of it's value or it's symmetrical aesthetic is considered a real number!

I'm not dismissing the value of other numbers at all, eight is simply better! This is plain to see!

In algebra and above it is considered a real number, regardless of what it's "value" denotes. It still has a place on the remedial number line, showing the break between whole numbers and integers, therefore it is incorrect to consider it "not real". And if you're speaking on symmetrical value, zero written in it's numerical form can also be split vertically and horizontally.
You're welcome to think what you want about the aesthetic value of how something is generally written, but to call it "better" undermines the importance of all numbers in mathematical equations. In equations all numbers are of equal importance due to their workings within the whole to formulate an answer.

Perhaps you should look less at what the numbers themselves appear as, and look more at their function. If you spend so much time staring at the outside you never understand what's beneath the surface. Your equations are all basic, there's no substance.
As some one who has formed a connection with such a magnificent creature, a connection that has gone so far as to cause a natural evolution, I would hope you wouldn't be so shallow.
