27 ♐ Video ♐ Loss and Gain
[It's sometime at the end of Friday that Darkleer makes this post. He didn't want to ruin the festival for anyone beforehand, but now that it's coming to close, he thinks it's a decent time. For once, Darkleer is appearing on the network without his glasses willingly. He's honestly an open book without them- blue on yellow eyes filled with a bit of sadness, loss, and tiredness. Normally he wouldn't take off his glasses for anything, but- she was his auspitice. She deserves his all, even if...]
Princess Zelda of Hyrule is no long in Vatheon. I imagine many of you knew her, as she was well engaged in much of the community, including the Welcoming Committee and crafting the tunics which assist in breathing underwater. It is also thanks to her that we have been able to find out more about our situation trapped in Vatheon. She was an excellent leader, a keen and intelligent woman, and the finest auspitice one could have asked for. We will all be blessed if she is brought back to Vatheon at some point in the future, yet even if not, we were all fortunate to have her in our midst. I doubt I can take her place, but if you have any questions about Vatheon and its purpose, I will do my best to answer you.
Coincidentally, if there is anyone in Vatheon who possesses a calm head, knows how to settle disputes evenly, and isn't afraid of clowns, please contact me.
Mr. Captor, I would also like to speak with you.
[There's a moment of silence, and then he takes a breath before reaching down for his glasses. He puts them on again and feels the better for it.]
With all of that said, Vatheon, I would like to make you all an offer. In order for this to make sense, however, please allow me to explain a device known as a syalladex.
[Behind Darkleer, what almost looks like a stack of pecular cards pops into existence. The top one seems to show a picture of a bag of bird seed.]
On Alternia, every troll has a sylladex, which is a storage system you carry with you everywhere. It is composed of captchalogue cards which are organized into a deck, a fetch modus, and a strife deck.
The captchalogue cards are where you store your items. You can often find them for sale in the Nostalgia Quarter. The number of items you can hold in your sylladex depends on the number of cards you have, although you can store multiple objects in one card so long as they are similar in nature or purpose.
[He gestures to his deck, which seems to shuffle until another card is on the front. Are those.... Is it a picture full of robotic hoofbeasts? Yes. Yes it is.]
You should be warned that if you do such a thing, then you must bring out all of the items stored on the card even if you wish to retrieve just one.
The size of the item you wish to store is limited, and I would not recommend attempting to store your hive in it. That would be silly. However, depending on the type and quality of your sylladex, you can store large items in it. If you are not sure what kind of items you are capable of storing inside of it, please contact me and I will advise you.
Now we will move onto the Fetch Modus portion of the sylladex. Fetch modi are the methods in which your cards are organized and in what fashion you can retrieve them. There are a variety of fetch modi, as many prefer something which suits their personality or preferences. For the purpose of this demonstration, I have equipped my sylladex with the Array fetch modus, which allows me to pull an item from any of my cards without much fuss. You can equip your sylladex with multiple fetch modi if you so choose. For example, I often use this particular fetch modus.
[He kind of just... reaches over to grab his cards, fiddles with the back for a second, and- pop! The cards are now a different color, what do you know. The deck shuffles again until the card shows, for a moment, a stack of freshly laundered towels. It then immediately shows a screen of a chalkboard with what appears to be a very complex math equation. Darkleer lets it be shown for just a moment before seeming to nod slightly and out pop a whole pile of towels.]
I will attach a document with this broadcast with a list and explanation of a few more fetch modi types. This is not a complete list, and if you have a different idea for a kind of fetch modus that would suit you, I am willing to listen.
Lastly, we have the strife deck, which contains its own specibus. This is where you store the weapons you use for battle, although it should be noted that a deck only contains one particular weapon of its kind.
I am explaining this to all of you because I have made quite a few sylladice during my stay in Vatheon for a few individuals not from Alternia. After the disaster of the flooding, I thought it would be prudent to distribute them out.
If you are interested in possessing a sylladex, please respond to this broadcast and we can work out the details. If you wish to pay me in some manner, I will accept it.
[After the post completes itself, a document containing a list of different kinds of fetch modi becomes available.]

[As the video feed starts, she's looking incredibly distressed. In fact, she's not glowing at all at the moment, her skin a normal troll grey. She wants to ask him if he's sure. She want to check, to say it's a lie or a trick or... She knows better. Darkleer would have been thorough. If he says it's so, then it is.]
No...

[And her reply is cut short, as she breaks down. She was trying so hard not to cry.]
Sorry.
[The video feed is cut, but it's not long before she sends a message along.]
Im Sorry About That
I Think I Would Like To Accept Your Offer
If You Would Give Me A Short While To Collect Myself
[text]
D --> I am not going anywhere
[text]
Where Would You Like To Meet
Im Doing Better
Well
Not Really Better But Im More In Control Now That The Initial Shock Has Passed
[Unfortunately the shock has passed into a deep emotional numbness. No, not really better.]
[text]
D --> If you would like
[text]
[She certainly doesn't waste any time. Only a few minutes pass between the sending of that message and her arrival at the Nostalgia District, looking for someone who should be unmissable.]
[action]
Are you alright?
Re: [action]
[She normally wouldn't be so frank with an admission like that, really. Right now she just can't muster the energy to lie. Not to someone she trusts like him. At least she stopped crying.]
I can't believe she's gone.I knew it could happen... I was afraid it would happen. After all that occurred though I thought they wouldn't bother.
[action]
Who knows what goes through their minds. Perhaps knowing the experiment would have to continue on, they decided otherwise.
[action]
That's what I'm worried about. She was the one that worked hardest against their plans. I thought that if they were going to retaliate, they would have done so already. She... was such a large part of everything.
[action]
We will simply have to prove them wrong.
[action]
That we will.
[She looks to be on the edge of tears again as she looks up at the blue blood, but she's holding back, her face set in determination, not mourning.]
So, tea?
[action]
That's right.
[action]
So. We continue on then. The princess was working with me on organizing her data from the coral. I know she had help from others getting the measurements, and I can continue to make the backups and graphs that we were doing together.
[action]
[As he guides her through the streets of the Nostalgia Quarter, he lightly tugs on some of his hair in thought.]
Perhaps we should update the pamphlet...
[action]
[This is good. Kanaya was always the practical sort, and being focused on what needs to be done, actual plans, that's all keeping her mind off of how much she's going to miss Zelda.]
[action]
[He has a few ideas, but it's always good to get feedback from other sources.]
[action]
You know, I don't think I've actually looked at the pamphlets in months. I'm pretty sure it's still lacking in information about our captors though. I'd like at the very least for there to be warnings as to the trustworthiness of the nurses and scientists.
[action]
[He'd always thought something seemed off about her, as much as Zelda had wanted to trust the woman. It's almost a shame he had been the one to be right.]
That most certainly does need updating. It will save us all time in the long run. Some mention will have to go about not damaging the coral, however. After last time, I believe we all agree that for now we should leave it well enough alone.
[action]
[One side effect of losing Zelda? Kanaya's getting more paranoid. Hey, someone's got to take up the slack.]
[action]
[Even though they're close, now, he stops so that he can focus on her more completely, brows furrowed just slightly.]
I won't hesitate to say that we should be careful of all who arrive in Vatheon. Often, we will not know them and if they are indeed the only one from their world, they could very easily lie to us about their own dangerous qualities. That is without bringing the scientists into things. However we cannot let ourselves worry too much over hypotheticals, lest they derail and ruin us.
[action]
[She takes the rebuke quite well. Looking at it she is being a touch too paranoid. It might be something to keep in mind, but she can't let herself obsess over such things when they've never even occurred.]
If I remember correctly the welcoming brochure says something in thanks of a foreigner who originally helped set up the pamphlet originally. I'd like to do the same for Zelda and her contributions, as a part of our revisions.
