Some of you may have had your houses broken into on the night of the New Year's party. I apologize deeply for the behavior of the man who did it, he is from my world.

I need your help. Anyone's help, really. That man is a magical construct created by my worst enemy. I estimate that he was created a short while ago, no more than a year's time. If his master were present I would say that he is a puppet and needs to be disposed of, but his continued existence without Ganondorf here to maintain the spell suggests that he has a consciousness of his own. I don't know for certain what his intentions are, but a preliminary scan showed that he has little to no direction.

[She puts her head in her hands.]

He is currently convinced that he is Link...

[She can't go on. She turns off the feed, but she'll answer anyone who calls her. Really, anyone. She's completely at a loss for what to do.]

Might there be a certain weakness he has?

[Not that she was interested in helping her but this 'Link' could get in the way in the future]

A weakness? Holy magic, I would imagine... I am not yet sure that he is a threat, though. Though he did break into people's homes, I don't believe it was because he wished to harm anyone.

Miss Zelda? [ He has the gist of it, but he needs to ask anyway. ] What's going on?

There has been... an arrival from my world. He is a magical construct based off a dear friend of mine.

And he's dangerous. What can I do to help?

Dangerous? I am not sure if he is dangerous or not. He may have been created by dark magic, but he is still based off of Link. Mostly, I would appreciate the knowledge of someone that has experience with replicas, clones, dopplegangers - whatever you should call someone based off of someone else.

Zelda?

[A pause. He wants to ask her if she's okay, if she needs company - anything. Instead:]

I told you I'd help you out with anything you need. Just tell me how I can. Or who I can target.

[Because his strength is his strength, and he's willing to use it to help in any way possible.]

Target? I am not yet sure if he needs to be targeted. He might be harmless, I don't know. It's just... how do you deal with someone who believes they are someone else, someone you know? I fear was harsh with him.

I...don't know.

[And he's at a loss, wanting to be helpful but not knowing what to say. After a moment...]

He doesn't sound like a good person if he's breaking into people's homes. I don't know anything about magic, but it sounds to me like he could be dangerous.

[Another pause.]

Maybe just stay away from him for now?

Do you know why he would break into people's homes without the intention of harming anyone?

Perhaps that would be for the best... ah, but his disregard for people's belongings - that comes from Link. It isn't out of any sort of malicious desire, he just seems to think there are things hidden everywhere and he can't help but look for them. Messily.

[Her voice softens noticeably when she speaks of the real Link.]

Thank you, Shizuo. I am sorry to have worried you.

[She sounds sheepish.]

That is a habit of the true Link. He's just... looking for things, he doesn't mean to hurt anyone.

Don't thank me. I said I'd help, and I will.

[There is a considerable amount of silence before he speaks again. You can most likely hear him shifting as he tries to formulate a response.]

Just...let me know if you need anything.

[Someone to watch the coral in case Ganondorf shows up after all? Someone to watch her in case that happens? Just company in general? Zelda is far too uptight to ask for any of those things, but it sounds like she appreciates the offer nonetheless.]

Don't be silly. It's customary to thank someone when you feel grateful, regardless of if there was a previous arrangement or not.

[This one comes much later - Shizuo has been debating whether or not he should offer for some time now, because this is new territory, still, and he's all around unsure if he's going about it the right way.]

Um, do you want to do something? To just...not think about things for a while? Like...

[Pause. He doesn't know!]

[He wants to help, somehow, even if there's no one for him to beat up, and besides, he likes Zelda.]

[It's a good thing she can control what he hears or doesn't hear, because that elicits a giggle. Oh, she shouldn't laugh, she was just as awkward, but it was funny!]

I would like that very much. The park sounds lovely. Shall I bring some tea?

[He's glad that she agreed, and feels a little more comfortable now.]

Sure. That'd be nice.

[Sorry Shizuo, that's soon in girl-time. She needs to take a bath and fix her hair and do her best to cover up the train wreck that she's become since Dark Link rolled into town.]

Do you have any experience with dopplegangers or clones? I am not sure how to treat this... this replication of Link.

Well, technically Karkat and I are clones of each other, but I don't think that would be particularly useful in this scenario. But you say he's a replication of your friend? The one you left behind?

Yes, that is correct. His magical signature indicates that he was created by an enemy of mine, by dark magic. And he really, truly believes that his purpose is to take Link's place... I cannot allow that.

So then he essentially is your friend, but one created for a dark purpose?

[Signless thinks on that for a moment.]

Have you tried greeting him the same way you would approach him if he actually were the man you remember?

I did. It was quite dark, I couldn't see the differences between them. He reacted... similarly to how Link would have reacted.

[She doesn't say how she reacted. She's a little ashamed of it.]
