[As time goes on in Vatheon, Maka finds it much easier to ignore the silliness happening around her (well, unless it's Very Dire, in any case and absolutely needs her attention) so when the feed flips on she doesn't seem worried or irritable or even a little upset, just slightly sheepish.]

Ah...hello, everyone! I haven't been on the network in a while, I think, so...I'm going to try and get back into the habit?

[Though the problem, and she knows this is a problem, is she doesn't have very many interesting things to say or even anything particularly relevant to ask, so she plainly doesn't know what else to say next.]

Um, so, has anybody read any good books lately?

Hell yeah it is. It's about this kid Larry and his parents were killed by this evil motherfucker, don't ask me his name you ain't supposed to say it out loud. So anyways this poor bastard Larry is forced to live in his auntie's stinky basement, but shit gets awesome for him cause then he gets to go to this crazy sorcery school and turns out he's like fucking Magic-Jesus or some shit.

Why shouldn't you say the name aloud? I mean, even if it was harmful to say in the context of the book, he's a fictional character, he can't actually come out and hurt you.

I was wondering if you might have any recommendations. I've been focusing mostly on scientific compilations lately.

Well, it depends on what genre you like, actually...I read all kinds of things, but I don't want to accidentally recommend something that's going to freak you out!

[Hey, wait, she recognizes this face! Indeed, as recognition dawns on her, a creature that might look a little strange to Alister (but is really just an Umbreon) pokes its head into view and chirps.]

[But once she greets him, she realizes that he might not remember his time spent in Vatheon (particularly since their last interaction involved him being in very poor health) and revises her statement:]

I think...since you're a doctor and all, maybe I should see if I can dig up some books about Soul Theory? They cover a lot about the nature of the soul and illnesses they can pick up.

[He's stunned for just a moment at the inital greeting, confused as to how she could have known his name without him even speaking it-- until he remembers. This wasn't his first time here, and he could not recall all of those he may have spoken to in that time, even if he had been well. It stings a little when she suddenly turns around a moment after.]

Quantum physics, engineering, and historical fables. Though I'm not adverse to romantic novels at times, either.

[He pauses a moment.]

Ah...I do have a lot of history books and encyclopedias from other worlds.

[A beat.]

I'm not much into romance novels, but I think I have some Alternian ones my friend gave me.

[Pip's paw swiping at the camera reminds Maka that she's there.]

Oh--this is Pip! She's my Umbreon. She helped take care of you when you were sick at our house. I think she's glad to see you in good health again.

Ah! History books are just fine. I don't delve into fiction often, myself, and I am curious about the biographies of other planets.

[He had heard about his prior illness from the Colonel, as well as vague dreams and recollections he'd had from time to time. For the most part, it felt like just that. It didn't happen to him, but rather, his former self.]

Does this 'Pip' have healing capabilities, then? She certainly doesn't appear to be any creature I've come across.

[ He disappears for a few moments as he grabs the book in question and flips to a page that has the name. He underlines. ]

[ He underlines the name and holds the page up to the screen. The name underlined is 'Bolderemorde' ]

This one here! [ He points at it for emphasis] So what is is, huh?

No, she just watched over you when you were a little more--um--delirious.

[And Pip nods in affirmation.]

[She reads, carefully, going over it several times.]

Hmmm...either Bol-der as in "boulder" and morde as in the French word for death but with a D...or bol-dehray-morde. Let's just say Boulder-morde.

[That hesitance says that something more happened. Something potentially embarrassing.

Does he care to find out?

She is a magnificent creature. Native to this world, I can assume?

Technically no. [Though Pip does preen a little at Alister's comment. Yes she is magnificent, thank you, her daddy takes good care of her.] She was born here, but her species isn't from this world. Not even from my own world, either, she's a part of a species that are collectively called "Pokemon." They're creatures of various sizes, shapes and forms that have different abilities.

[Pip handily demonstrates hers by making the rings on her body glow.]

Like that. There are more Pokemon here in Vatheon, they're under the care of people from their world.

[ Devit pauses... as if absolutely dumbstruck. Though considering him being him that isn't exactly uncommon. ]

...Why would you say it out LOUD?!

Why not? Even if he was real, why bother being afraid of simply saying his name? Fear of the name creates fear of the thing itself, and fear gives the thing power over you that it very well shouldn't have.

[Unknowingly quoting Ralbus Fumblemore aside, she has a lot of feelings on fear.]

He's got like this half snake looking thing going on. And no nose! There just two little holes. Almost makes me throw up a lil in my mouth just thinking bout it.
