Twelfth transmission [video]
[As time goes on in Vatheon, Maka finds it much easier to ignore the silliness happening around her (well, unless it's Very Dire, in any case and absolutely needs her attention) so when the feed flips on she doesn't seem worried or irritable or even a little upset, just slightly sheepish.]
Ah...hello, everyone! I haven't been on the network in a while, I think, so...I'm going to try and get back into the habit?
[Though the problem, and she knows this is a problem, is she doesn't have very many interesting things to say or even anything particularly relevant to ask, so she plainly doesn't know what else to say next.]
Um, so, has anybody read any good books lately?
[Thus she will default it to a subject she's more than familiar with (besides souls).]

[ Forgive him if he's a little mopey because he's seen people wearing bodysuits like 5x tighter then his pants like all over the place. ]
[She's curious!
Devit reads?][video]
It's called 'Larry Popper and the Magicians of Menace'. Lemme tell you I'm not a reading person but I could not put that shit down.
No she will not fuck him, thanksOkay it's actually not that she disbelieves Devit would read, it's more of a pleasant surprise to her.]I've never heard of that one! Is it a fantasy? [Though menacing magicians sound like a legitimate threat to her, not everyone has had such experiences with magic (or even any experiences with magic)]
Hell yeah it is. It's about this kid Larry and his parents were killed by this evil motherfucker, don't ask me his name you ain't supposed to say it out loud. So anyways this poor bastard Larry is forced to live in his auntie's stinky basement, but shit gets awesome for him cause then he gets to go to this crazy sorcery school and turns out he's like fucking Magic-Jesus or some shit.
[Oh, OH, the prophet Jesus, recognition hits her before she can make a fool of herself by asking about Jesus of all things.]
Why shouldn't you say the name aloud? I mean, even if it was harmful to say in the context of the book, he's a fictional character, he can't actually come out and hurt you.

[She certainly wouldn't recommend the Book of Eibon, that's for sure. But give her a moment--]
Well, it depends on what genre you like, actually...I read all kinds of things, but I don't want to accidentally recommend something that's going to freak you out!
[Voice]
[Yes, let's...not let her read that.]
Tell me what you have and I'll more than likely read it! [...she thinks]
[Voice]
I have some fashion books from different cultures, I have encyclopedias from other worlds, I think I might even have a couple of Pokemon manuals too from when we first got Pip...
[Voice]
Hm...I do wonder what they might have about Pokemon though...I know there might be something about breeding...

Mr. Alister!
[But once she greets him, she realizes that he might not remember his time spent in Vatheon (particularly since their last interaction involved him being in very poor health) and revises her statement:]
Um, it depends on what kind of books you like to read, sir.
Quantum physics, engineering, and historical fables. Though I'm not adverse to romantic novels at times, either.
[He pauses a moment.]
...what is that creature accompanying you?
[A beat.]
I'm not much into romance novels, but I think I have some Alternian ones my friend gave me.
[Pip's paw swiping at the camera reminds Maka that she's there.]
Oh--this is Pip! She's my Umbreon. She helped take care of you when you were sick at our house. I think she's glad to see you in good health again.
[He had heard about his prior illness from the Colonel, as well as vague dreams and recollections he'd had from time to time. For the most part, it felt like just that. It didn't happen to him, but rather, his former self.]
Does this 'Pip' have healing capabilities, then? She certainly doesn't appear to be any creature I've come across.
[And Pip nods in affirmation.]

I was wondering if you might have any recommendations. I've been focusing mostly on scientific compilations lately.

[Yes, it sounds silly, but she just said that a soul can get sick.]
At least, then you wouldn't have to talk to Professor Stein about it. He tends to be a little, um...single-minded. Brilliant, but single-minded.

[No, she's not aware that that's a Pink Floyd album in not-her-Earth.]
But I like a lot of books, it's hard to avoid getting into a good book and frittering your time away.

[A large chunk of that because it wasn't talked about beyond the title in canon, but she'll try.]
A little like...a man's struggles with varying degrees of insanity, how they wax and wane like the moon, how he still doesn't completely understand them but tries not to let them control his life.
It's really intense, and pretty long too.
