Voice

[No theatrics or flamboyant language today, just one tired vampire. He'd like to say he's only tired because he just woke up from one of those comas that aren't actually restful, but that's not the case.]

It's been about twelve days since Rinoa Heartilly left the city, I meant to say something but then, well, I wasn't available.

It's been nine days since Sola vanished as well. Considering the usual three-day rule, I suspect it isn't a temporary thing for either of them.

I still have access to Rinoa's apartment and much, if not all, of Sola's things are still here at the house. If either of them had something that belonged to someone else, let me know and I'll see if I can track it down.

[And with that exceedingly clinical and neutral announcement made, he just shuts off the recording.]

[Fai has been well aware of the absences but because of Johnny being asleep he has tried very hard to not think too much about them. He knew Johnny was going to be upset when he finally did awaken. Fai has been checking on the other every day, waiting for the day when his fellow vampire would finally awaken. Today when he went in to the room, Johnny was already gone. It isn't too long after that that he hears the broadcast.

There are only a few places that Fai knows Johnny would go. So he takes his chances and goes out on the hunt. It isn't long before he finds the other at their workplace. Sliding in quietly, Fai pauses by the door, unsure if his presence will really be welcome. He hasn't had to experience much loss on this world, but he knows it isn't easy and Johnny is a lot like him in many ways. Wanting to be alone is exactly how he would want to be...but he also knows how self destructive that can be.

He knows as well that his presence has probably already been discovered and so he moves softly across the bar.]

Johnny..[What can he really say?]

[Even with the bottle of vodka lodged in his head, Johnny could sense someone coming and was able to smell who it was as soon as Fai stepped inside. He couldn't really decide if he wanted the company or not, but he wasn't about to kick the other vampire out.

Either way, he knew he didn't want pity, it wouldn't get him anywhere and he was too angry at himself to accept it.]

I don't think I realized how easy it is to get comfortable here, how easy it is to take things for granted.

[Fai walks over and settles into the seat beside Johnny. He has always held onto the fear that one day he would wake up and his brother would be gone. It's something that has made him try to keep an arms length distance from everyone while there. But he can often find himself getting too close, forgetting that they could disappear at any time. And when he gets reminded of that, like at times like these, it makes him want to withdraw once again even if he knows he shouldn't. He won't pity Johnny, he will simply share the other's misery.]

This world can lull us into feeling secure even when we know we shouldn't.

[Part of him was tempted to reach out to his companion and find some comfort in contact like he sometimes did, but he restrained himself. This was his fault, maybe not Rinoa's disappearance, but Sola's, so he didn't deserve comfort right now.

Instead, he took a sip from his glass and stared ahead at the lines of alcohol on the far wall.]

Yeah...Maybe it is easier to just stay away. Detach. It didn't hurt to lose anyone back then cause no one was close enough.

[He downed the rest of the contents and left the glass on the bar so he could bury his face in his arms.]

[Johnny didn't have to reach out. Instead Fai leans over and rests his head against Johnny's.]

That's hard to do..even if we want to do it. And in some cases it's too late.

[Fai relies on Johnny a little more then he would like to admit. He isn't sure how well he would hold up if the older vampire suddenly disappeared one day. The first time he had only been gone a little while and it had been rough enough.]

Yeah...

[And it was too late, he certainly wasn't going to pull away from Fai or his brother or Ky just because it might hurt and the problem with having friends is that, often times, you don't realize how close they're getting till it's too late.

He shifted and turned and buried his face in Fai's neck. The other vampire was the only person Johnny felt he could actually afford to be open with now.]

Fai...I don't know what to do now.

[Fai reaches up and slowly pets Johnny's hair. He wishes he could fix things but he really doesn't know how to help in these kinds of situations. But he won't leave Johnny's side.]

We do what we always do when someone leaves..we accept that pain and then keep moving forward. It's all we can do.

[He knows Fai's right, it's all he can do, but it feels like there should be something more. Sola was different, Johnny had never had a relationship like that and now that it was gone...he didn't know how to react. It was like when Jacob had vanished.]

Yeah...

[He brought his arms up to loosely wrap around the slender blond, but the grip tightened seconds after, as though he were afraid Fai might vanish in his arms as well.]

[Fai wraps his arms around Johnny, holding him close as he feels those arms tighten. He understands the fear inside the other vampire as it mirrors his own. Things like this always make Fai realize just how fragile the relationships are on this world. At any point things can be shattered. It makes him want to cling to those he cares about that much tighter as well.]

No one can promise they will be here always..but I'm not going anywhere for as long as I can.

[Fai turns his face to nuzzle against the side of Johnny's head. Fai didn't want to leave a world where his brother has the ability to live. He'd stay here forever if he got the choice. Johnny is important to him as well and so he hopes he can stay by the other vampire's side for as long as the world permits.]

[Johnny knew Fai couldn't keep that promise, the way this place worked, he could vanish tomorrow and there'd be nothing either of them could do.

But he still appreciated it.]

Thank you, Fai.

[Fai gave Johnny a little squeeze then lifted his head up with a soft smile.]

How about some dinner? I'll make a tasty meal and maybe an yummy dessert. [Because desserts always make Fai feel better.]

[He pulled away and smiled softly at the other vampire.]

Yes, I think that sounds wonderful. Maybe something with chocolate or lemon.

[Those particular flavors always seemed to cheer him up the most.

Really, anything would be good as long as it wasn't blueberry.]

Ah! Maybe a tasty chocolate cake! Lots of layers and shaved chocolate on top!

[Fai wiggled in his seat excitedly with a cute smile.]

You can help me. Cooking is always more fun when done together~
