[Zelda had waited for an entire day for one of the trolls to post a general warning for the populace before realizing that Signless was currently unconscious and Dolorosa was no longer in Vatheon. It was likely that the other trolls were too caught up in planning a defense to remember to warn everyone, she decided. Far be it from her to leave people uninformed. Zelda will simply take care of it herself.]

Hello, Vatheon. One of the new arrivals this cycle is extremely dangerous and capable of inflicting a sort of mental attack on those that stand against him, bringing their fears to life. He is very unstable. I am speaking about the Grand Highblood, the one who posted a video just yesterday saying "I can see you".

[No, she won't add the "motherfucking".]

I have not experienced his powers personally, but I was warned against engaging him very strongly the last time he was present. I now pass this warning along to anyone who was not aware. Be very cautious if you choose to do so anyway.

Unfortunately, there are many people here that lack common sense. That does not mean that they should become victims, though. And even with that, it is not as if you can tell what sort of power he holds simply by looking at him. I would have thought he was rather like Gamzee if not for the warning, myself.

That's not unfortunate. That's just amusing. Victims always deserve to be victims, Zel-da~~. No matter how stupid or -nice- they are.

[Zelda puts the SFC to the side, resolved to not answer whatever else he might say. Unless he asks a question she can answer about how to stay safe, exactly. Not answering that would just be rude!]

I like you just fine, I simply don't share your views about victims. As for Shizuo, he is not the rumor-spreading type, nor would I put him in such an uncomfortable position as to ask questions about you.

[She just stares without responding, looking confused. Shizuo told her about Vegeta, but of course he didn't tell her about that. It takes her a good five minutes to respond.]

see, shizu-chan wanted to be stronger so he could make sure YOU didn't get hurt when vegeta came to fight him so he knew he had to train

but i guess betrayal is a good way to start a new relationship. but i guess it made me realize how much he values what we have, since he was so ready to throw it away.

[This time she actually doesn't respond, glaring down at the SFC. Why? Why would Shizuo do that? Why do people keep doing such drastic things for her? She wasn't any more worthy of defense than someone else was! Shaking slightly, she shoves her SFC in a drawer full of clothing, not wanting to look at it anymore.]

[Oh look Zelda, you're unsettled enough that Zelos' lady in distress sense is tingling. He knocks, having heard the dresser drawer slam.]

Zelda? You okay?

I will be fine.

[She doesn't sound it.]

[Frowns, then decides being tossed out of her room for being wrong is better than just letting her be if she really is upset and opens the door quietly.]

What is it?

[His tone is soft, holding no judgement.]

[She mulls over the merits of telling or not telling Zelos for a minute before turning to face him, looking blank.]

I have just been informed that someone attacked someone else to get stronger... so that they could better defend me.

Oh yeah? [Shoves his hands in his pockets.] Was it Sola or Shizuo?

[Takes his right hand back out and waves it dismissively.] Actually nevermind, it doesn't matter. Look, Zelda...

[He bridges the gap between them and stands in front of her, hands in his pockets again.] You're a pretty amazing person and people are bound to love you, but you can't take responsibility for stupid things that people do because they think they're trying to help you.

[She snaps at him without intending to, looking angry.]

I am no more worthy of such consideration than other people are. People making unecessary sacrifices for me is not something that I want.

It sucks, right? [His voice is lower in reponse to her raised volume in snapping at him.] But some people are just like that. They're idiots. It's not something you can control, really.

[He sits next to her.] Well, there is sort of something, but I can't see you doing it.

[She looks down at her hands quietly. The anger might be gone, but she's still not feeling up to mincing words.]

You think that I should push people away like you do? I have thought of it. They would be better off, most likely.

[He laughs a little, self deprecating and shallow.] It's harder than it looks, though, if you're not made of stone or something. I don't think you could do it and keep it up for long. You're always wanting to help, you're not self-centered enough.

It isn't about being self-centered though, is it? It's about keeping yourself from hurting others.

[Zelda didn't miss it when they talked about how they couldn't change their behavior and Zelos looked so lost.]

If it is for the best, then I believe I could do so.

It's about protecting yourself from getting hurt just as much.

[He's thinking back to that night too.]

And you don't think the second one of them has a problem you can solve you're not going to want to get up in there and fix it? And worse, since you've already helped so much, they're gonna come to you anyway.

[Zelos glances at her sidelong.] Wouldn't the guilt of refusing just kill you?

My solutions seem to cause more trouble than they are worth, frequently.

[She looks right at him, not holding back the fact that she sees right through his silly pervert facade. It's a piercing, uncomfortable stare.]

Why don't you tell me how you do it, Zelos? How do you turn people away when they seem to want nothing more than to get close to you? How do you deal with the guilt at seeing someone's sad expression? How is it that you're alright, pretending to be so air-headed all the time when you're actually quite intelligent with so much to offer?

[Zelos pauses for just a second, then frowns slightly. Oh he sees what you're doing there Zelda but you can't push the master. No way. He shrugs and leans back, stubbornly ignoring the knot in his stomach in knowing that if this escalates, she might learn quite a bit.

Maybe he should let her. It'd certainly prove to her she couldn't, shouldn't push everyone away. He can just see it now. He spills his life story and she ends up a wibbling mess. He's a little horrified at how vindicating that seems right now.]

I don't deal with it. Clearly anyone who wants to get close to me just wants something from me so why should I humor it unless I want something too? It's how people are, they use each other.

[Zelos watches her face, knowing that Zelda doesn't agree with that assessment of humanity.]
