[Kanaya finally manages to flick on her video feed, a disgruntled look on the prim troll's face for a long while before she gives off a scoff, rolls her eyes and crosses her arms. She isn't even sure how to work this thing and it is clearly upsetting her. A moment later she seems to realize that, yes, she has managed to figure out how to work it.]
Greetings, would it be acceptable if I were so imprudent as to implore someone for their assistance in the current situation I am in? I do not quite understand all of what is going on nor do I really comprehend this technology... I do believe it was only in what I might crudely label luck that I found out how to work this into allowing me on what I am assuming is video broadcast. I have been avoiding most other signs of life in a strange and unusual wave of timidity, I believe I have come to terms with the displacement in my life now enough to reach out to whoever else may share in my dilemma. Let me apologize now for my rude behavior to whoever is regarding this video with what I will assume so graciously is curiosity.
I do fear, however, that I might break this contraption if I continue in my endeavors to figure out how to utilize it to socialize with others. I will declare I do find it an absolute aggravation when I simply wish to acquire help and to be sure others may acknowledge my existence here. It can also be said that it has probably lead to at least some of my reclusive behavior as of late.
[Her features had softened through her explanation and she doesn't seem quite as angry when she finally comes to a stop, just lightly frazzled.]

There is a lot to fucking tell. What have you heard? There's the curses, the mark you get, the fairy thing, the Starfish Communicator or SFC which is what you're using now, the scientists, the periodic invasions, Starfish Tokens... Who all is here and who isn't... Ancestors, you're going to need to know about them so you don't freak out.
Also, Eridan's here, but keep your lipstick capped. He hasn't killed a single person in all the months he's been around, and he's not allowed his wand except under special, extenuating circumstances, and never to use against an actual person. But no, before you say anything, I am not expecting you to be best pupa pals with him either. Deal with that shit on your own, just do it nonviolently.

I have not heard anything about the curses, the mark that I presumably have, the fairy thing, the scientists, the periodic invasions, nor the Starfish Tokens.
I have little intention to cut him in two again, I believe I got that out of my system for the moment. Don't hold your breath if you expect us to be friends again, I would hate to see you die from lack of oxygen intake.
[Video] this is kind of ironic with the recent fairy explosion. backtagging time shenanigans ahoy!
But alright, firstly, the scientists are the ones who brought and are keeping us here. They haven't shown themselves thus, cowards that they are, and I don't even know why they want us here anyway. But the curses are these experiments they're running on us. They happen every other week, usually, and they each last a week themselves. They're these random ass effects on the people brought here: stuff like literal thought bubbles that follow you around, hats that change personality when worn, rumors becoming true, things turning into a real life RPG though not the same way as Sgrub, changing species, changing age... It's altogether unpredictable as fuck, and there's not much you can do but put up with it and wait for the week to end.
Now, the mark distinguishes "foreigners" - people from other worlds - from the natives here. It's this curly thing, looks like this - [He holds up his left hand, displaying the symbol on the back.] - though the location varies from person to person. If you have it, almost anything here is free. Places to live, food, clothes, and even less important shit like local movies, though I don't recommend them because they're all nautically themed knock-offs. The exception is anything from shops in this area called the Nostalgia Nook - not my idea, the humans are just culturally insensitive dickweeds - which sell things from the respective home worlds of the people here. There's one called GrubMart that has things from Alternia, for instance.
That's where Starfish Tokens come in, they're this local currency kept track of by a card you should have with you. [He pulls his from his sylladex and holds it up briefly.] These you earn by working a local job, though you should have a certain amount on there to start with, I think. It's entirely possible to get by without them, by the way, you just won't be able to get things from that area.
Aside from the mark, foreigners are also set apart by these glowing fairies that follow us around. You should have one with you. They never go away, they can't be caught, and they don't do anything on their own, though I have heard the idea suggested that they're a way for the scientists to monitor us, since I do know they're watching us somehow.
And lastly, invasions are these things that seem to happen every few months. Not long after I showed up here there were pirate ghosts, and then there were these big scalebeasts called dinosaurs, and then rotting fish monsters, and most recently a kraken that nearly destroyed the place. How long they last is more variable, but typically people work together and get shit dealt with, and keep those who can't fight out of the way of harm, and that's that.
