cool guys don't look at explosions → hello joint intro

[ the feed focuses on what initially appears to be a single individual (clearly a newcomer from his wet appearance) making use of the network— ]

So! I take it this place is called "Vatheon"— at least, according to the conspicuous sign. A lot of new people turn up here, right? It seems like a sort of immigration system, but it'd be nice to know why

[YES MINENE WILL TAKE THE WHEEL RIGHT NOW. You know how she probably would've been all over this by now? Well...now she is, and she's taking the communicator from her kawaii friend Akise. She's just as wet, and to contradict her "friend", she's not quite as calm.]

If anyone doesn't tell me what the hell is going on here, I'm blowing this place up!!

[As if to prove her point, a loud explosion shakes the background, and she smirks. At least her bombs hadn't gotten wet. Right?]

Better be glad this was abandoned. Next time you guys might not be so lucky! So hurry up and get some answers coming in, or else!

(( ooc: joint post between akise & minene— both of them will be responding! ))

Threatening others in order to obtain the information you wish will make you no friends, or allies.

[Mitsuhide us frowning; he is calm, but obviously not happy.]

Those who were brought to Vatheon in the same manner as you will gladly tell all who come here what has happened to them, but you would do well to cease threatening violence upon us. We are not your enemies.

[He shakes his head.]

Calm yourself, and I will then tell you what I know.

If you panic and be rash, you will make this situation worse for yourself.

[He stays calm, though he raises an eyebrow.]

You are in a strange place, of which you have no knowledge, and you make threats against its people without thinking of potential consequences. There are many of us, and many more powerful than you, I can almost guarantee it.

[It's in the manner of a warrior he addresses her now; usually he adopts a softer line with new arrivals but this obviously calls for a different attitude.]

The need for allies is a logical one. Furthemore, this place, Vatheon? It is now your home, whether you are happy about that or not. We are all stuck here, bound by a power greater than anything any of us can match. If you harm it, you are making it worse for yourself.

[He closes his eyes for a moment.]

I have offered to help you, freely. Do you wish to know more, or not?

You still do not know enough to be certain of that.

[It's enough to earn a slight smile from Mitsuhide, however, though his expression remains overall serious. He's pretty much switched in commander mode, the voice and face of a man who has lead armies before.]

This is Vatheon, as you know. A world between worlds, a place that pulls in many people from different places and binds them to itself. The power that does this is called the 'Lamufao.' It is a coral worshipped by the native people as a God, and it is beyond the harm of any of us. Though trying to harm it is a fool's errand anyway, as it sustains the barrier that keeps this city from flooding. You have likely noticed we are underwater?

[He gestures with his free hand.]

All of us pulled in by the Lamufao may only leave when it chooses to send us back. That time is random. Some have stayed here for only a few weeks before leaving. I myself have been here for a year and a half.

Shall I continue, or do you need time to digest that?

[ GONNA SAY HE GETS HIS SFC BACK RIGHT ABOUT HERE— ]

So the native people are religious, then? And their "God"— the Lamufao —is authoritative toward the colonization of this place... Does that mean it has a mind of its own?

We do not know, exactly. It is hard to tell; the natives would say yes, but perhaps there is something else controlling the coral. It is possible. We see little of those who rule this place, and they are either cryptic or simply repeat what the natives say.

[Mitsuhide raises his free hand so the mark there is visible.]

The oddest thing is, despite its power, we are told that the Lamufao uses us, the souls drawn to Vatheon, to keep the barrier strong. Energy is gradually drained from us, and we must touch the coral to replenish it after about two weeks.

You will have a tattoo on your skin, now. An odd mark that we all have, and it glows when we do that touching.

So it's possible the natives themselves are in charge.

[ ah, neat. free tats. while he's not exactly going to start looking for a mark, he does glance down at his hands instinctively, if only because this guy's was located on the hand.

sure enough, there's a mark on the back of his left, which he raises into the feed. ]

Is the hand the most common place? —And do the tattoos do anything aside from being a conduit for energy?

Many seem to have them on their hands, though I have not seen quite enough to tell you if it's the most common place.

[Mitsuhide lowers his hands a little, and taps his chin. There is such a large amount of 'maybe' and 'possibly' when it comes to Vatheon.]

And no, not as far as I know. Others may have theories on the matter, but I tell you only what most consider to be true or what has been explicitly confirmed.

I am sure you have seen the fairies by now? We all have one of them following us, too. They say and do nothing but watch, so it is widely believed they are spies of some sort. In the year and a half I have been here, however, nothing connected to them has been revealed.
