...what seems to be the low-lit interior of something more akin to a cave than a room, littered with messy piles of soft scraps and plushies and yarn and even the occasional teapot.

A monstrous shadow looms on the wall, a fearsome looking four-horned creature.]

You're the best, Gamzee! I'd nefur have been able to reach to use all that extra wall if you weren't here, nope nope nope!

[And with a squawk the chocobo drops the SFC, sending it cartwheeling until it points at the origins of that shadow, a messier-than-usual kitty troll perched on a clown troll's shoulders, various hues of paint staining her hands and clothes and even her cheeks, still dripping a bright red from an outstretched paintbrush that had been adding the finishing touches to a heart high up on:]

Oh, Pounce! Hi Pounce! I'm really glad that Gamzee brought you to visi...POUNCE WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?! OH NOOOOO...

[She attempts to leap at the wall to block it from view; this doesn't go well when instead it just makes both trolls topple over in a tangle of limbs.]

It's embarrassing for all of us, trust me! You don't have to yell at them, though. This was pretty obviously an accident.

Fictitious possibilities are one thing Fef, but when she's got that--when she's made a correction like on it... Just... Whatewer, fine!

Eridan, come over here. I mean literally, over here, I'm on the back porch. It's sort of dumb talk like this when you're right there.

[Isn't Vriska over there? What if she claws out his good eye? Oh well. He clicks off the feed and makes his way on over anyway. He definitely still looks pissed off and somewhat mopey. Also a touch unsure, he knows Fef is giving him a chance to prove he's not a waste of husk, but he's not sure if he should be whining to her about quadrant problems.]

[Either way, he's there now, stopping a few feet from the actual porch as he looks at her, that unsureness now predominate over his features.]

[So totally not awkward, nope.]

[ For her part, Feferi still has reservations in the back of her mind, but if he's been here as long as he says without a lot of trouble, she can at least make good on her word and try to let him prove himself. And he's not going to be able to do that if she keeps him at arm's length and doesn't open up to him just a little bit.

She doesn't let on in the least about her own concerns. They've taken a backseat now to making sure nothing explodes between him and her friends. It's almost nostalgic, in a weird way-- not entirely good, but not all bad either.

With a tub of ice cream cradled in her arm and a spoon in her mouth, as soon as he approaches, she waves him over, patting the spot on the cushioned bench next to her, then finally figures out to take the spoon from her mouth when she tries to speak. ]

Come up here! I'm not going to talk to you from halfway across the lawn ring!

[Oh Feferi, why are you still so endearing? He makes his way up there after he request, taking a seat beside her. Though, he casts a curious eye at the ice cream cradled in her arms.]

What's with the ice cream?

[Is this normal, Feferi? Is sitting on your back porch and eating ice cream a usual habit of yours or something? Also, ice cream is totally a better topic than what they were talking about previous. Totally and completely.]

[ When is anything Feferi does considered normal? She offers the tub and the spoon out to him with a little more enthusiasm than is really called for. ]

You want some? It's really good!

[Good point. He pauses, staring at the tub and spoon for longer than what's really necessary, before he takes them both. Scooping himself a spoonful before idly eating it. Man, he hasn't had ice cream in a while, he's nearly forgotten how comforting it can be.]

[God, he almost feels bad with how Feferi's being so nice to him.]

[ Feel bad while you can. Enjoy it. ]

Sooo... what's going on with you and Gamzee? Is this something you need to talk to someone about?

[ If it weren't for what happened before she had left for home and come back with a mountain of new memories, she might not have considered making anything of it. But it seems an excellent follow up to the conversation they'd had after the incident with Karkat. ]

[He frowns at the ice cream when she asks. Damnit, Feferi. Why can't people just drop this whole him and Gamzee thing?]

... Maybe I'm... harborin' some black sentiments after what he's done...

[ Because she is conch-cerned. Mostly about Gamzee, but hey. ]

Are you sure you're actually interested in being a rival to him, though? Or do you just want to get back at him for what he did?

I just want to make sure that this isn't something where someone needs to get between you and him. I just think the revenge angle isn't really the best to build a strong, respectful kismessitude! And anyway, it sounded like he wasn't interested.

[He opens his mouth to say something, but then she says that last part and his composure falls completely. Goddamnit, why did Gamzee reject him? He's so tired of being rejected! He gives his all and he always still falls short. Why doesn't anyone fucking want him? Karkat does, he's not discrediting that at ALL, but still, it's like all other quadrants are giving him a double helping of the aerobatic flapbeasts. He somewhat shrinks in on himself there, and while he's okay with talking about things a bit more now, especially since it's all over the damn network ANYWAYS, that part just hurts and sucks.]

[Nope, he's not gonna say anything, he's too busy feeling sorry for himself. Good job, Fef, A+]

[ Nope nope nope nope not going to start feeling a little bit bad for him. But even if she does, just a little bit, it's just because he's so ridiculous sometimes. But it's hard to not feel a little bad that there's anyone out there who thinks so much self-pity is at all necessary or appropriate. ]

There's no rush! I don't know, maybe you are sincere, but if it's not reciprocated, what kind of relationship would it be? Not a very good one!

You've still got a lot of sweeps left, you have more than enough time to find the right fit for that quadrant.

Will you listen to yourself? You're not the first troll to be rejected, and you're not going to be the last! It happens, sometimes you try and and it doesn't work, and you have to learn to live with that. He didn't humiliate you, he just declined, and that's his right.

[ She sighs as well, more a deep breath that she takes and holds for a moment to calm herself. There's a lot of personal investment in this subject, but she's really trying hard to let the past be the past, and try to be impartial about this. ]

Why him? What about him is so important that you absolutely need to have him in a quadrant?

I know it's his right, I newer said it wasn't... Doesn't mean I can't be disappointed or... want to try an' change his mind...

[But... Yeah, why him indeed. Maybe because when Eridan thinks about him he's filled with dark ire strong enough to physically, not just metaphorically, churn his stomach. Maybe because he just wants to make Gamzee suffer for what he's taken away from Eridan. Losing an eye sucks, but it's taken even more from Eridan than that. His eyes were damn well KEY to his main strength. His marksmanship. Now with his even MORE hindered vision, he couldn't shoot the broadside of a barn even if he was a mere 10 paces from it... Maybe an exaggeration, but that's about how USELESS he feels now, and it's all because of Gamzee.]

[Because Gamzee couldn't trust that he wouldn't do something like that to Karkat. Because Gamzee never had faith in him, despite leading him on to think he did. Because Gamzee would rather throw away what he thought was a good friendship, instead of waiting to find out who really did it. Because Gamzee ultimately betrayed him...]

[ No. No, not the face. Not that sad pathetic little face. Eridan stop it you just look so damned pitiful. She tenses up for a moment when he looks at her and runs over the mental tally of pros and cons in her mind, before patting right next to her. She doesn't say anything immediately, just gives him an expectant look that says he's got a two second window to get over there and lean on her shoulder or else he's losing it.

She really knows she shouldn't indulge him like this. And she still feels a little weird about it. But put a sad little troll in front of her, and it's hard for her to not want to care for them. And for all that the memory of her return to the Veil stings, she still remembers her time in Vatheon before that. When he was honest. When he could have kept her completely in the dark, and kept her in his pale quadrant despite what happened between them. He had every opportunity to trick her back into a relationship with him, and he didn't take it. That meant a lot more to her than even she realized. ]

[Feferi does not need to pat besides her twice, it doesn't even take a second for the wibbling sissy to scoot over and actually wrap his arms around her. He's completely disregarded the tub of ice cream he had in his hand, and the spoon, because damn is his emotions so much more important. It's definitely dropped and on the porch somewhere, who fucking knows, he sure doesn't, nor does he care. He can just get her a new thing anyways, once he's able to even think of doing that. Hope you don't mind him burying his face into the crook of where your neck and shoulder meet, Feferi, because he's totally doing it!]

[ Oh awkward. She just barely resists jerking back, and after another few beats of tensed muscles, she finally lets her shoulders droop. She regards her discarded ice cream tub forlornly. What a waste! She was so going to finish that.

Eventually she just gives in. If she really hated it that much, she wouldn't hesitate to push him away, but bolstered by the relatively positive direction she feels the conversation is taking, she sees no reason not to indulge it. Even if it makes her skin crawl a little. She sure is a trooper! She manages to wiggle her arms out of his grasps so she can put one around his shoulder, reaching up to fuss with his hair idly. ]

Disappointed is normal! But you can't just convince someone to have feelings for you. You've tried that before, and when has it ever gone well? I'm not trying to bring it back up to make you feel bad, but think about it... do you really want to be in a quadrant with someone you forced to feel that way because you hounded them relentlessly?? Or do would you rather be with someone who's actually attracted to you like that?

[He's too self absorbed to really notice any bit of her wanting to recoil from his sudden clinging, or how she fusses with his hair. Feferi is a trooper indeed, any other troll would have probably shoved him away, but here she is, holding her own murderer and letting him be the pathetic piece of work he is.
