Of course. The moment you doubt yourself is when your opponent will pick up on that weakness. That's why it's best to not show weakness at all, isn't it?

One bad move will throw yourself into jeopardy, no matter what the circumstances.

But you must also remember that there are no rules, as in a regulated game of chess. Your pieces are as powerful as you make them, and there is no such thing as an illegal move.

In that case, it also means that both sides don't have an equal amount of pieces. They may vary in power, as well as number. To the side who has the odds against them, it proves to be an even more brilliant feat to win.

It all depends on if you're able to utilize the pieces you have - which regrettably, few do.

The strength of a piece is more important than the number of pawns. If your piece is more powerful, your opponent could have a hundred at their disposal and you would still win. Having strong pieces is a testament to the player's skill.
