1 ♐ Voice ♐ A brief check up

[Wow, Darkleer is actually communicating with the network on a whole for once instead of being a miserable hermit. Must be a special occasion. Does anyone know his wiggling day?]

Now then. Have we all cleansed ourselves of the mess and done whatever strange death rituals foreign species feel the need to do?

[Okay, maybe it is just Darkleer being a coldhearted dick. Eh.]

I believe we should focus on the more important matter here. I have seen discussions scattered throughout the network, but it would be best to have all our thoughts and speculations focused in one place on both the destruction of those so-called faeries and on the recent appearance of that Carol individual.

For those of you who are oblivious and prone to missing the obvious, things are changing in this place. It would be best to be prepared.

[Don't be fooled, he's not doing this to be nice. He's doing what any troll knows to do: looking out for himself and the few he cares about. If that means even faintly working with others, well, he'll learn to deal.]

[Also, that's all the network is getting from him. Click goes the camera!]

[Filtered to Summoner]

[Darkleer hesitates before sending this one out, although his voice is just as stoic and stern as ever.]

Since your children in particular seem to be taking this badly, perhaps it would benefit you to know that those things which followed us were nothing more than mere robots. The technology may have been organic in nature, but it was still nothing truly living. No pain, no loss of life.

That's all.

...Yo.

[Man he's always wanted a chance to start a conversation like that, ever since Naoya used it--]

I've been here from day one, if you were curious. If there's something you want to ask? I'd probably know it.
chosen_gigolo: (Bored)

[personal profile] chosen_gigolo 2012-01-20 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Any idea where Doctor Alpha vanished off to, then? Or this priestess Carol was talking about?
redcloakedthief: (It's hard work okay)

[personal profile] redcloakedthief 2012-01-20 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Alpha? Nope, not a clue.

It's a shame...I actually owe the guy one. He wasn't that bad.

[A pause, and--]

Huh. You guys haven't even met Thalassino? ...I've been here too long.
chosen_gigolo: (huh?)

[personal profile] chosen_gigolo 2012-01-20 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I've only been here a month. What can you tell us about her?
redcloakedthief: (There's something very wrong here)

[personal profile] redcloakedthief 2012-01-20 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
She welcomed us when we first got here. The first foreigners, I mean.

That was...ha, nearly two years ago now? She gave me a towel.

[He considers it.]

She's always been mysterious though. I know she didn't get along with Alpha. And she disappeared along with the church.
chosen_gigolo: (Thinking)

[personal profile] chosen_gigolo 2012-01-20 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
So she and Alpha weren't on the best of terms... Maybe they didn't vanish because of the same thing, then.

So the whole church just vanished too? I haven't been able to do much exploring yet.
redcloakedthief: (It was an accident I swear)

[personal profile] redcloakedthief 2012-01-20 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It got eaten.

By a shadow.

I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.
chosen_gigolo: (fail)

[personal profile] chosen_gigolo 2012-01-20 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Eaten by a shadow... right.

Although that could be some kind of weapon effect from this war the documents you recovered were talking about. That was you that retrieved those, right?
redcloakedthief: (Maybe I /do/ know)

[personal profile] redcloakedthief 2012-01-20 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
...Yeah, that was me. Way back when we first got taken here. I've still got them all, but it seems like they got circulated around just fine.

I couldn't say. This place changes month by month. But Thalassino's got answers, if anyone could find her.
chosen_gigolo: (Thinking)

[personal profile] chosen_gigolo 2012-01-20 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Any idea at all where she might be hiding out? Or you think she's out of the bubble entirely?
redcloakedthief: (A moment's contemplation)

[personal profile] redcloakedthief 2012-01-22 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[He considers that for a moment, thoughtfully.]

She's not in the city. I've searched the place top to bottom. But I can't say she's out of the bubble. This place has a habit of suddenly springing new places on us.
chosen_gigolo: (Thinking)

[personal profile] chosen_gigolo 2012-01-22 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm... Maybe some exploring is in order.
redcloakedthief: (This is yours? Not anymore~)

[personal profile] redcloakedthief 2012-01-25 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Feel free! Who knows, I might even come with you. But you should get used to the fact that this city is always changing--and so are the factions in it.
chosen_gigolo: (huh?)

[personal profile] chosen_gigolo 2012-01-25 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Factions? I pretty much thought us foreigners just did our own thing unless we're trying to organize. Do you mean the locals?
redcloakedthief: (A penny for your thoughts?)

[personal profile] redcloakedthief 2012-01-27 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes, the locals. Keep up now.

Thalassino and Alpha never got along, you know. I heard it their conversations.

And now these scientists...do you really think that they respect a High Priestess?
chosen_gigolo: (Thinking)

[personal profile] chosen_gigolo 2012-01-27 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Matthew gets a bit of a scowl for his rudeness. Not everyone's been here from the start, dude.]

In my experience science and religion don't really mesh, no. So you think they did away with her?
redcloakedthief: (these are just an added bonus)

[personal profile] redcloakedthief 2012-01-27 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[sorry, bro. It's what he does. And he just chuckles at that.]

Personally? I think she's craftier than that. But if so, she's definitely hid herself really, really well.

zelda_hylia: Of course! (Of course!)

[personal profile] zelda_hylia 2012-01-20 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you for responding, Matthew. I know it is troublesome, but I appreciate it.
redcloakedthief: (Because I have the key)

[personal profile] redcloakedthief 2012-01-22 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes. We're all stuck in this together, regardless. I know how it is.

I realize that many of the events have been random, so I'm going to save your time a little bit here and be specific. Do you have dates for the events that were violent? The kraken, the pirate ship, the... zombie... mermaids. Things like that.
redcloakedthief: (and that's how it goes)

[personal profile] redcloakedthief 2012-01-25 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
The zombies...heh. I hardly remember that one now. It was a bit of a rough time.

August. It was in August. August 15th, to be exact, not last year but the year before.

[Completely contrary to the fact that he says he hardly remembers it, but he's kind of contrary like that.]

The kraken was recently, but the pirate ship was in January. Last January.
zelda_hylia: I'm listening (I'm listening)

[personal profile] zelda_hylia 2012-01-26 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
...that is rather disturbing to hear. If there is a pattern, we can expect something bad. Soon. Thank you.
redcloakedthief: (A moment's contemplation)

[personal profile] redcloakedthief 2012-01-27 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Sure. You know how to find me if you need anything else, I'm sure.

[Click!]
redcloakedthief: (Heh. Keep on going)

[personal profile] redcloakedthief 2012-01-22 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
The first indeed. We all arrived together, the first batch of us. There were maybe...fifty at the most?

Yeah, something like that. Some lasted months. Some didn't even last a week. I suppose the scientists didn't really need them. I can't say why I'm still here.

[...]

The priestess greeted us each personally when we all arrived in the plaza. She gave each of us a towel, welcomed and thanked us, told us that we were here by the 'grace of the great Lamufao'. Told us to make ourselves at home. And moved on to the next foreigner.

It was tough at first. There wasn't anyone to explain where we were or why; we had to figure it all out ourselves. Find a place to stay. Find out what was going on. It was pretty chaotic those first few weeks.
