[The good thing about being a machine is that it doesn't take long for Legion to figure out the little communication device. For a moment after the video comes on, the flaps around the eyelight move, flaring out before drawing in close to the light. It looks completely unperturbed by the water dripping off his frame. When it finally speaks, its voice is noticeably mechanical.]

Current location unknown. Shepard-Commander, requesting your assistance.

...Shepard-Commander? Garrus Vakarian?

[He pauses for barely a second before continuing.]

If there is anyone that can hear this, we appear to be out of communication range with our squad. Requesting location data and information on how we have come to be in this place. There is no missing data from our database, suggesting that we have potentially lost recent memory files and have been rebooted from a previous archival copy.

There is currently no known location in the galaxy that matches the description of our current location. Our current hypothesis is that this is an unknown colony, though there has been no news on the extranet about a new colony. More data is required to extrapolate on our hypothesis.

[Another pause.]

We are willing to exchange data or favors for more information pertaining to our current whereabouts. We are especially interested in data on how to return to our previous location.

Serph doesn't know a good number of the words mentioned, but he gets the gist. He swaps from his usual voice reply to video.]

This is Vatheon, a world different from your own. Many of us have been taken from our worlds, but none know how to return.

[The flaps around its eye goes crazy, going up and down a few times before settling again.]

No data available on any location known as Vatheon.

Are there no space-worthy ships available on this planet?

[Space? Planet? Serph shakes his head.]

The only ship here is unusable.

[A pause.]

Please show me your surroundings. I have a booklet containing general information of Vatheon.

[Legion turns their SFC so Serph can see the plaza and the welcoming committee's building across the way before turning it back.]

Is that enough to extrapolate my position?

[A nod.]

I will be there shortly.

[ ACTION ]

[And so he is! It isn't hard to spot the newcomer, given their distinctive appearance. Serph makes sure he's within the newcomer's line of sight before he approaches and holds out a brochure. The information regarding fairies is crossed out. Who needs proper greetings anyway?]

[It doesn't take long for Legion to read the brochure and commit the information to memeory. When done reading, they look back up at Serph and hold the brochure out for him to take.]

[Oh good. For once, someone who's willing to give his brochure back.

Serph gives a nod in acknowledgement.]

My name is Serph. I am one of the leaders of the Defense Force here.

We are known as Legion. Is there a particular need for a Defense Force in an isolated settlement such as Vatheon?

[He notes the "we", but doesn't comment.]

The city is unpredictable. There have been situations that have threatened the safety of residents. We exist to better deal with them.

[Legion pauses for a second as they come to a consensus.]

We are willing to offer our assistance to the Defense Force.

[Serph nods.]

What skills do you have?

We are proficient with sniper rifles and assault rifles, and are capable of close quarters combat. We are also proficient at hacking and infiltration.

[He's making a mental note of all this. Also, perhaps now is a good time to bring up that "we" stuff.]

Are you speaking as the leader of a group?

We do not have a leader. Every decision is made through census of the programs within this mobile platform.

[Ratchet smiles wide at the camera. A robot! YES!]

Hey there! I'm Ratchet. Welcome to Vatheon.

[The flaps on its head flare up slightly.]

If we may ask, what species are you? There is no data available on any species matching your description.

Nice to meet you Legion. Oh, I'm a Lombax. Probably haven't heard of my species since we're pretty much extinct. Only two of us left.

Thanks. Really the rest of us are in some other dimension but there's no way to get them back that I know of so...yeah.

Anyway. You're in Vatheon and as far as we know, it might be in another dimension separate from all our universes. And we can't leave.

We do not understand. Requesting clarification of "other dimension."

The way it was explained to me is existance is made up of an infinite number of dimensions. And with the right equipment you can access these dimensions. Think of it like each dimension is like a planet. And with different galaxies, there are many planets right? So is the universe with dimensions.

We still do not understand your explanation.

Um...okay. You know how shapes and dimensions, right? Like different sides? Well existance has them too. Many different sides and each side is a completely different universe. So my universe, yours, and the one this city is in are all different sides of the same shape.

[The flaps around Legion's head go up and down several times as he tries to process Ratchet's explanation.]

This concept appears to be beyond our range of understanding.

[The panels lift away from Legion's eye.]

You consider a synthetic to be your friend?

Sure I do. He was my first friend and my best friend.

[Legion is silent for longer than usual - only a second or two, practically imperceptible to anyone who doesn't know them.]

This is an unanticipated response.

Why is that?

Approximately 99.999% of all organics we have encountered do not treat synthetics as equals, nor do they consider them to be friends.

That's stupid. Where I'm from robots and organics live together as equals. Sure, there are some organics that don't like robots and vice versa but we all get along mostly.

[And once again the panels on their head go crazy, going up and down several times.]

This differs greatly from what we are used to. Most organics fear us.

Why do they fear you?

Because of the Morning War, and the attack upon Eden Prime by the heretics.

The Morning War and attack on Eden Prime? Can you tell me about those?

The Morning War occurred approximately 300 years ago. The Creators became afraid when the geth began to question the possibility of us having souls. The order came for all geth to be exterminated, and eventually we took up arms to ensure our continued existence. We drove the Creators off of planet Rannoch. We did not pursue, nor did we ever venture beyond the Perseus Veil, so the only side the organics heard was from the Creators.

The attack on Eden Prime occurred two years ago. Eden Prime was a human colony and was targeted by the Old Machines and the heretics due to the presence of a Prothean beacon that had been excavated from ruins. The Council blamed the geth alone for the attack, denying the existence of the Old Machines.

Sounds like typical Anti-Robot propaganda. Sorry but with the war, the Geth were in the right. You have a right to exist and I think you do have souls. I'm glad you won. And your Creators sound like jerks.

As for the Eden Prime thing, blaming the whole of the few is a bastard move. It's stupid. This Council obviously doesn't like robots either. Again, anti-robot propaganda. It's all bullshit.

We are grateful that you are willing to listen to us. Shepard-Commander was the first organic to listen to us, even though she knew of the potential threat we posed to her crew.

We do not hold a grudge against the Creators, or the other organics for their actions. Most are unaware of the divide between the geth. It was easier to blame an unseen but familiar enemy, instead of an unknown.

I got to admit, that's big of you guys. Grudges just aren't worth it in the end. At least maybe one day the organics will wise up and stop being judgmental pricks.

Until then, I can totally be your friend.

[Legion pauses for a couple seconds, much longer than it usually would.]

If you cannot contact your companions using this device, it is likely they are not present.

This settlement is called Vatheon. So far, attempts to return to wherever we were brought from have proven that to be impossible, at least at will. If this is indeed a colony, it is one of an unknown power.

We do not understand. It should not be impossible to leave, even with lack of proper transportation.

There is an active force field around the island that repels all attempts to escape it. My own attempts at establishing subspace communications have also failed.
